    Correction:
The GST on rooftop solar installations for homes is 13.9%, not 3.9%, as shown in the video.
Note: The prices mentioned in the video are approximate and may vary significantly depending on your city and state. The cost of your rooftop solar system may also vary with roof space, roof layout, number of floors, state government charges, etc. The prices mentioned in the video are without maintenance packages. The pricing further varies basis type of panels, inverter, structure type and size, cables, and other components.

    Maza aaya :)
This video came out at perfect timing for me especially because we are in the middle of installing a 4.6KW system on our home. Actually, the solar panels are sitting on our roof waiting to be installed as soon as other components arrive.
Few things I wanted to add to the video which are possibly ignored/missed:
    1. DCR panels (Made in India Panels which are required to be installed for subsidy) are costlier than non-DCR Panels.
    2. The cost quoted to us for subsidized project was very high because of the price different between DCR & non-DCR Panels. So far as it was almost the same price for us to install project without the subsidy.
    3. If you have a GST registered company, please check for a non-subsidized project costing also because you can easily save more money just by opting for a non-subsidized project with GST invoice which you can claim against your company purchases. In our case, we opted to go for this option & saved substantially more money for our project.
    4. The cost quoted to us for a 4.6 KW project with TOPCON panels was around ₹3L for subsidized project & that for non-subsidized project was ₹2.3L. From the non-subsidized cost, we will be claiming almost ₹25-30K under GST so it is rather very obvious choice for us.
    5. TOPCON technology is indeed a superior one to mono perc which is suggested in the video but please keep in mind, there is not much efficiency difference so it doesn't matter if you go for mono perc instead of TOPCON. We went for TOPCON as we indeed wanted to go with latest technology available. Most of the vendors suggest not to go with TOPCON only because they are not as easily available as mono perc & are slightly more expensive.
    6. Some companies are currently giving 30 years performance warranty on their panels. We opted for 8 of WAAREE 575Wp 144Cells TOPCON N-Type Framed Dual Glass Bifacial Non-DCR Solar Modules which come with 12 Years Product Warranty & 30 Years Power Output Warranty. So do check the warranty sections of all the panels available with your vendor.
    7. As stated in video, the net units lapse at end of March. The issue with this is, throughout the year you will accumulate extra units from July to February & they actually lapse just before Summer starts. So it is quite possible that if you do not go for slightly higher capacity than your need, it is possible that in April to June, you might consume more units than the yearly average these companies consider. Once you go negative in these months, you will receive electricity bill & you will have to pay it. So keep this in mind.
    8. For the lapsed units, you actually do NOT get money via cash/DBT. In Maharashtra, the extra units are converted to credit money which will be stacked against your account. So in case if you consume extra units in NET, the bill amount gets adjusted in this credit (keep in mind though this credit is calculated at very low rates while the bill will be generated at full rates). & after 1st year, your fixed charges (meter rental etc.) also start to get consumed from this credit. (PS. this might be different for different states. I am speaking about MH)
    9. Make sure to approach multiple vendors available within your region & get estimates from them. The 1st vendor we approached gave unrealistic quotation. After doing some research & going to multiple vendors, we came across a good one. You can check this website for vendors via map view: www.enfsolar.com/directory/installer
    10. Insist on using dual MPPT inverters which are of latest tech in inverters. & also ask vendor to actually use both MPPTs from your inverter. Most of the times, vendors will tell you that they are using dual MPPT inverter but they will only use 1 of the MPPTs. This saves them costs in wiring & installation. Ask them to use both MPPTs for half & half panels.
    11. Subsidy is only available for residential projects & not for commercial/industrial projects.
    12. The maintenance part discussed within the video felt a little overwhelming. As long as you do not step on to panels, the chances of microcracks are slim to none. All you need to do is get a pressure washer from amazon & use it once every 2 weeks to clean the panels really.
    13. The ROI or Payback period discussed in the video is totally dependent upon 1 thing, that is, only if you are 100% using the generated units, those calculations will fit. If you are generating 1400 units per year but only using 1000 units per year, then those 400 units should not be considered within the Saving/Return. So it is important to go for correct capacity solar according to your needs.
These are just some of the points I thought. Most of them are applicable in our state (Maharashtra). Some things might be different in other states so please keep that in mind.
& the most important thing, do go for Solar! Don't look at it as utility but rather an investment. No other investment will give you such GUARANTEED high returns on your invested amount.
In the end, thank you LLA for keeping the janata so jagruk!

REALLY GREAT KNOWLEDGE.. i agree with most of your points but imo for a residential user it's better to go with subsidy scheme because they don't get GST returns also under pm suryaghar the net metering is easier and 5 years AMC is provided by any good local vendor. Although i agree non dcr panels are cheaper but their benefits outweigh what additional benefit one gets under PM surya ghar for a residential user. i have compared the costs and it's a hassle for someone with little knowledge bargaining with EPC companies can be tedious, but for a commercial user non dcr makes sense.
I have also recently installed a 4Kw system with adani topcon panels 575watt* 7 no. and enphase microinverters IQ 8p in UP under govt subsidy scheme and it's performing exceptionally great.
If anyone has any query regarding anything feel free to ask. i have researched quite alot on this topic for the past 1 year. Happy to help and clear doubts.

@@optimusprime0299 yes its true. If you do not have GST Registered company then definitely there is no point going for non subsidized project. But if you do, then there is no harm investigating the cost differences really as in our case, we saved around 30K almost by going this route. Ofcourse this is going to be case by case.
We were also looking at adani panels but due to availability, we went with Waaree ones.
In Maharashtra the exposure to Solar world is still very less compared to northern states. Most of the people unaware with the solar stuff. There is no knowledgeable source here for advanced stuff like microinverters or optimizers etc. Lets hope State governments here also emphasize more on Solar like Northern states.

Almost same because as mentioned in the video at 12:32 for on grid solar, when electricity is turned off, solar production will also stop. But in hybrid or solar with battery, energy will be getting stored in battery.
Pr agr din me 1-2 ghnte hi light ja rhi hai, to solar with battery ka khrcha krne se accha ghr me already inverter hai to usko hi kaam me lo. 1-2 ghnte solar bnd rehne se itna frk nhi pdne wala, aur shayd subsidy bhi sirf on grid wale me mil rhi hai.

Investing 270000 in a fixed deposit at 8% interest will fetch you 1800 rupees every month. If your consumption is higher, then only solar is beneficial. Companies are not here for charities; their ultimate aim is to make profits. Apart from maintenance, some wear & tear would cost you extra. Which would be an extra burden, and the cost of parts could be higher. Solar is an evolving technology. People should wait at least 5 to 10 years. 🙏

Ambient temperature ke baare me to baat ki hi nhi. Panels ki power rating 25 degree celcius pe hoti hai. Aur india me open roof panel temperature 50 degree celcius tk jata hai easily. Itne pe power generation 50% tk down ho jaati hai. 3 kW ka solar system bhi less than 2 kw ka reh jata hai.

    Some more important questions
    -security related
    - can bird droppings harm panel or if birds sit on panel cam cause scratches or even lizards
If yes , how to protect panel can we opt to cover it with some net and what will be the feasibility
    - what about setting up water spray over the panels as shown in many reels now a days are they effective to clean panels as in my case there is black dust that falls from nearby plant

    • @solarsquareenergy2936
      @solarsquareenergy2936 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

Thank you for the questions! We are glad to provide clarity on each one.
Bird droppings can affect panel efficiency if they build up, as they block sunlight. While occasional bird visits won’t scratch the panel’s surface due to the durable tempered glass, frequent droppings can reduce performance if not cleaned regularly. We recommend that you get maintenance services from the provider to ensure good upkeep and cleaning of panels.
If using water sprays, please ensure they do not cast a shadow on the panels or hinder deep cleaning since this can impact performance and life of the panels.

    Sir,
There need some corrections in the calculation for kW units generated by Rooftop solar panels.
My observation says a 2kW solar unit will generate 1.1kW power (maximum) at noon. Efficiency is almost 55% and even less at other times of the day (Except the Summer things are even worse). So, 2kW will be suitable for homes utilizing around 100 to 150 kW monthly units. But solar is worth just to perfectly calculate how many units we are utilizing and how much Solar is generating per year(get practical data from vendor). Installations in Summer will benefit surplus generation for Monsoon. Correct me if I am missing something.
