@@Mr.06_ The user isn't wrong. There was a limited print full color manga that told the story of why this game is. It's... utterly insane, and yes, all the fighters taking part (with a big question mark over Demitri) is that everyone's dead and fighting in some afterlife tournament.
Another Fun Fact: There are hidden mid boss battles with two different characters. Each one representing each brand and otherworldly afterlife realm. Athena from SNK represented "Heaven" and Red Arremer a.k.a. Firebrand of Ghosts n' Goblins, Ghouls n' Ghosts, and Demon's Crest (SNES) fame represents "Hell."
This game is notable for giving street fighter characters more actual character in one game, than they ever recieved throughout the whole series up to that point. Capcom is much better about it now.
One thing I loved about SNK is the character-specifc dialogue between characters between matches. Such a simple and great addition that I wish Capcom swould have adopted.
I don't know man... for some reason this game always stuck with me. The somber music, empty arenas and the desolate atmosphere... Back in the day I heard rumours that this was supposedly afterlife, so those rumours only made the atmosphere that much stronger (I wonder if this was ever confirmed?) I really dig it overall, it's kinda like Sonic.exe of SNK games.
Yep. There was a very limited print manga (I think actually Chinese-made!) that made it to the States. The story was indeed ULTRA trippy and the biggest made point is that the world got ended to hell (because of Bison...) and everyone's supposedly dead, hence why a lot of the backdrops are post-apocalyptic.
But they also did more, they're just stuck in Neo Geo Pocket (and one in DS). SNK vs Capcom TMotM is I'd argue the best iteration of the crossover, and then the card games.
I played way more of this game than I probably should've. Those were unsure times for SNK stuff and each game felt like it'd be the last. Rough times being an SNK fan.
Dan was your mid boss. There's six possible mid bosses: Dan, Demitri, Zero, Mars People, Geese, and Goenitz. And yes, that was bad end. I forget the exact requirements but there are two possible final bosses after Shin Akuma/Serious Mr. Karate: Red Arremer and Athena.

in addition to regular Supers each character has a special type of super called Exceed which is what that flashy move Iori did is. They dont require bar but you need to be at below 50% health. Also you only get to use them once per full match. SVC Chaos has the pretty standard SNK mechanic of canceling any move into any other move when in Maximum mode. Almost every character has a pseudo infinite. In Maximum mode every time you cancel it takes a chunk of the Max meter. When the meter almost drains, you can top it off with a super move. In the beginning of the Iori fight, the white flashes you were seeing was him guard canceling to get plus frames on you. That crazy combo he did in Max mode was a bunch of canceled special moves. The funny thing is that the guard cancel and max cancels have the same little white flash. You said every character has 3 supers but they also have a hidden Exceed critical art they can perform when they lose their yellow health bar and it cost no meter. You can tell the exceed CA's since the screen flashes blue.
SvC gives off an eerie vibe.. it may not be that popular but it was pretty damn good for it's time especially the way they did the Capcom fighters. I guess it's mostly the fact SvC takes place in purgatory...

I mean, hell; I can't remember the basic inputs for moves in a fighter I played a month ago, but when Matt mentioned at first how he couldn't remember how to do Buster Wolf with Terry, I immediately responded with, "Two quarter forwards and punch", and it's been well over a decade since I last played this.
I still have all eight volumes of the SvC comic on my shelf. Not necessarily my proudest set of purchases, but if I ever need a laugh, they do the trick! Some of the art is fairly decent, as well!

SVC CHAOS BOSS RAGE: Violent Ken & Shin Akuma bosses 2. SVC CHAOS TERRY LEGACY: Violent Ken & Shin Akuma bosses 3. SVC CHAOS KEN LEGACY: Violent Ken & Shin Akuma bosses 4. SVC CHAOS DAN LEGACY: Violent Ken & Shin Akuma I feel Max should play SVC CHAOS one more time to get Orochi Iori & Serious Mr Karate as the final bosses for once
If there happens to be a part two, try to get the SvC Super Plus bootleg ROM. It adds all the boss characters to the regular selection screen! My personal favourite is Violent Ken's Kuzuryu Reppa.
There also seems to be guard crush, and apparently you can guard cancel as well by doing hp and HD on block at the moment of blocking. I also read that there is some super armor on certain moves. Guard cancels cost one bar of super so be wary of that. Also apparently something that happens when you are in Maxium it makes certain moves that are not normally supercancelable available to do so with some exceptions of characters who literally just cant (rip sagat and earthquake) hope this helps I'm a longtime fan of your videos!
I love this game despite the bland backgrounds, I believe the Red Arremer from Capcoms Ghosts and Goblins is the secret final boss ? I have the full set of the English translation of the comic somewhere ? I can’t remember much of the story, it was a bit confusing, the characters or their doubles crumbled to dust after being defeated, all a bit weird ?
I've no idea if the video creator is still looking at comments or not... Game was the way it is due to the shuffling of people around after SNK went bankrupt and got bought under Eolith (and bought back and merged with Playmore for a while). This deal wound up being rushed and really needed a TON of polish, as there's some meat there in gameplay, but the bugs and some of the jank makes it all feel really...REALLY budget. That said... There's supposedly a hacked emulated ROM that unlocks all of the secret characters to use from the get-go. One of the defining (and busted) systems with the game is their "Max" mode...build your Super meter past level 2 and you'll get a MAXIMUM charge that slowly drains down. Using supers take a small fraction, but the biggest deal of being in that mode is being able to special-cancel ANY ground move (effectively making a halfway Custom Combo ala Street Fighter Alpha games). The characters most able to take advantage were REALLY good. That said, the other system the game had was Guard Cancel Front Step (or GCFS). People who played it derided the mechanic at the time, though insanely enough feels like a ghostly archetype to Street Fighter 4's Focus Cancel. All you had to do WITH METER was while blocking, double-tap forward (towards opponent) to initiate an invincible dash. You can IMMEDIATELY attack afterwards, and especially if your under MAX mode, turn that into a nasty combo. It made offense in versus... strange, as anyone can turn the other person's offense upside down unless THEY had Max mode to prevent it by special-canceling (via attempting a reversal if other person used GCFS). What the Iori CPU did to you a couple of times demonstrated a bit of both. Also, EVERYONE in the cast (one that Dan and Iori tagged you with) has a powerful once-per-fight super called Exceed. When your life bar goes to the 2nd one, your character name flashes. Only then can you do the Exceed super move to do REAL GROWN MAN DAMAGE. But it's once per fight, so once it's used, you have to win (or lose) the fight against the opponent and wait until the next fight. And to even have a chance at fighting Red Arremer OR Goddess Athena, you have to beat more than a few characters with Exceed moves and NOT lose a fight. KOing characters in your first group of fights determines the sub-boss secret character you'll fight (Dan or Goenitz are the default if you don't do anything special), and continuing to win with more Exceeds will eventually net you a chance AFTER the Shin Akuma/Serious Karate to go against the true final bosses. However, that fight is a one-shot, period. You lose in heaven or hell, it's instant game-over. Last minor tidbit: Someone must have had a hatred of throws being used, because while throw commands are with two buttons, WHIFFING a throw actually drains part of your meter!!
No Roll indeed, but dashing while guarding is possible. And of course it's opening a whole world of crazynes cause you can cancel this dash with a special. You can press LK + HP while guarding for the same result, under the basic button configuration.
11:39 so when your meter gets to max lvl you're able to cancel special moves into another like kof2002/13's max mode which really lets you do some cool combos even with the sf crew.
Totally agree with the spritework comment. I normally prefer Capcom fighters but, in these crossovers, SNK did so much better with Capcom's characters than Capcom did.
I remember when I bought my first Xbox (I was mainly a PS2 owner, at the time) and I bought SVC Chaos along with Ninja Gaiden, and Need For Speed Underground 2 as my first games for it. Those were good times. I also remember when SVC Chaos came out in arcades (obviously before the console release). For some reason not too many people at my mall (maybe because I got there before the crowd got there) didn't really play that game. But, it isn't bad. Like Matt said; it's mainly that the stages are bland. The roster was on point, though; along with the proper moves and super combos in place. It's not the best but, it's definitely somewhat of a solid fighting game.
I was very hooked on the Capcom Vs. series when I was a teenager, but sadly this was the only game that I couldn't get into. And it wasn't because it was made by SNK, although I always preferred the Capcom's fighters. The sprite work on the Capcom characters was truly great (kinda closer to the CPS1 era) and we had some very unusual characters there like Zero and Mars People from Metal Slug, but at the same time it also felt needlessly hard and not so enjoyable to play. I actually boot it from time to time with Kawaks, but end up playing something else there instead.
18:14 The sub bosses are: 1. Geese 2. Mars People 3. Goenitz 4. Zero 5. Demitri 6. Dan The semi final bosses 1. Orochi Iori 2. Violent Ken The final bosses 1. Serious Mr. Karate 2. Shin Akuma The secret bosses 1. Athena 2. Red Arremer
Swear some of yall bugging. This game is fire. Still play it on my og xbox. Something about it feels very “official” arcade fighter to me. They used to have the machine at the arcade in the mall I grew up in and I met some really good friends playing this.
Check out Wrestling with Gaming’s recent history of Neo Geo and Top Hat Gaming Man’s history of this game to get a better insight into why this game exists and who Playmore actually was. Truly fascinating background.
1:00 ....no. There was a manhua? The only such thing I remember seeing in the US at the time was the Digimon Tamers adaptation, and that was.... certainly a thing.
With the full roster, Instead of Morrigan, Demitri was the Darkstalkers rep for this game, also Zero also showing up, and I think the first version of Violent Ken?
This is the one arcade machine I own. Theres a bunch of secret characters as well with the most annoying and difficult password system that you have to enter in the short timed character select screen.
11:56 "Iori, you're NOT the final boss!" Not regular Iori. OROCHI Iori on the other hand is a boss character. He is one of the two semi-final bosses with the other being Violent Ken
It's better if SNK would remake Match of the Millennium on modern consoles rather than remastered the darker SVC Chaos like the rest of the remasters from Code Mystics. 😊👍💝
Bad it may be, in 2005, I wanted to support SNK, but Ben Herman and his bosses were just to stubborn refusing to release for the PS2 just because in their imaginary head that it should cost $50, and how that turned out for the XBox. It would have bought is if it was on the PS2 for $25.
After Capcom's success of Capcom vs SNK & Capcom vs SNK 2, SNK tried to do the same. SNK's crossover game was good, but I think Capcom's crossover games are better
This is the enbodiment of how overpowered an SNK character boss is and how it feels to play them. Almost every secret character is broken in some way. Low tiers are TRULY low tier (not impossible to play with but requires extreme luck and skill to make them competitive against those broken characters.) ..... I had some fun with it. But ultimately I liked CvS2 more.

3. SVC CHAOS KEN LEGACY: Violent Ken & Shin Akuma bosses
4. SVC CHAOS DAN LEGACY: Violent Ken & Shin Akuma
I feel Max should play SVC CHAOS one more time to get Orochi Iori & Serious Mr Karate as the final bosses for once
If there happens to be a part two, try to get the SvC Super Plus bootleg ROM. It adds all the boss characters to the regular selection screen!
My personal favourite is Violent Ken's Kuzuryu Reppa.
When Iori started laughing after bodying you that first round, not gonna lie, I was LMAO 😆
You should play Without Warning next. It's a Capcom game that I've never seen anyone talk about ever.
I like how funky the sprites look except fir Guile. But I did LOVE how Dan was taken just a bit more serious in this game.
Shin sakuma and his Infinite supers
Tatsumaki senpuky--*ACK!*
that's Joe Higashi as the announcer
I love how the SNK roster in this game is diverse, but the Capcom roster is mostly just Street Fighter II characters.
It's a bit more diverse than what's shown here. Dimitri, Firebrand and Zero are unlockable on the Capcom side.
@@MattMcMusclesYeah the unlockables are nice, I just would’ve given up a couple of the Street Fighter II characters for other Capcom characters.
Hey guys, there's a dedicated discord server for this game here: discord.gg/QpuB3Jc
There are frequent online tournaments and anyone can join!
God I love you! I've been wanting to play this game for SO LONG
SVC CHAOS was SNK's take on Capcom vs SNK
I love this game despite the bland backgrounds, I believe the Red Arremer from Capcoms Ghosts and Goblins is the secret final boss ?
I have the full set of the English translation of the comic somewhere ? I can’t remember much of the story, it was a bit confusing, the characters or their doubles crumbled to dust after being defeated, all a bit weird ?
Red arremer for capcom and goddess athena for snk
You don't understand the story. They are all in purgatory. That's why the stages look desolate. It's crazy actually.
That thumbnail of Violent Ken, though... SO BADASS!
Last minor tidbit: Someone must have had a hatred of throws being used, because while throw commands are with two buttons, WHIFFING a throw actually drains part of your meter!!
i think this game is really good and deserves a better rep. it may not be technically perfect but i think its the coolest crossover ever
I normally prefer Capcom fighters but, in these crossovers, SNK did so much better with Capcom's characters than Capcom did.
i was just excited to hear the last blade mentioned. i dunno if i've ever loved a fighting game or its art style more than the last blade.
Im gonna wait patiantly for that SNK what happun.

"maybe if I was Dan and I could not escape, _UuUUuuUGggH_ "
This was the one game I actually wanted an Xbox for. Well, at least Plagmore pulled off what Namco couldn’t. Hey cmon cmon!
15:46 Iori Bloody Rage
SNK Bankruptcy "What Happened!?" when?
It would be great if you covered Red Earth. Discovered it for the first time not too long ago and I already love everything about it!
1:00 ....no. There was a manhua? The only such thing I remember seeing in the US at the time was the Digimon Tamers adaptation, and that was.... certainly a thing.
I had that comic lol! I have a friend who was a bigger fan of SvC so I gave it to him as a Christmas gift
Konami man says: "you will be sucked!"
I'm glad i got this game at Retropalooza two years ago, and it was CIB too.
this game made me spell maximuM like this in school! 😅
Funny to see dan use the reverse Raging Demon
its svc chaos! quick, pick a shoto!
SNK Crossovers had style. Shame they also have SNK bosses.
And SNK AI too
Dan is actually top tier in the game which is a thing that we will never see again
yeah dude he was dope in sf4 as well
The fact that this showed up in my recommended today! XD
This game deserves a "Wha Happun?"
20:03 Shin Akuma
First time I ever saw and played this game was at the arcade in univeral islands of adventure of all places
Woah maybe I’m getting too old but every song sounds like a metal slug song from the arcades I use to play haha
11:56
"Iori, you're NOT the final boss!"
Not regular Iori. OROCHI Iori on the other hand is a boss character. He is one of the two semi-final bosses with the other being Violent Ken
There is.It's a called a door away from this stressfest of a game. Lol
It's better if SNK would remake Match of the Millennium on modern consoles rather than remastered the darker SVC Chaos like the rest of the remasters from Code Mystics.
😊👍💝
You did it! Thank you! ❤️
I have the comics with local translations. I collected them all!
Samurai Shodown V Perfect
Bad it may be, in 2005, I wanted to support SNK, but Ben Herman and his bosses were just to stubborn refusing to release for the PS2 just because in their imaginary head that it should cost $50, and how that turned out for the XBox. It would have bought is if it was on the PS2 for $25.
I remember two secret bosses after Shin Akuma / Mr. Karate
One being Athena and the other Hellbrand if I remember correctly
I want to see you do Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
After Capcom's success of Capcom vs SNK & Capcom vs SNK 2, SNK tried to do the same. SNK's crossover game was good, but I think Capcom's crossover games are better
I too would like to 'fight' Sagat in the nude place.
We are SO back!
This is the enbodiment of how overpowered an SNK character boss is and how it feels to play them. Almost every secret character is broken in some way. Low tiers are TRULY low tier (not impossible to play with but requires extreme luck and skill to make them competitive against those broken characters.)
..... I had some fun with it. But ultimately I liked CvS2 more.
