This was the BEST review on these litter boxes. I like and appreciate your pure honest truth which made up my mind. I looked at least 4 videos and they didn’t give as much information as you. The unclean boxes gave an insight of what to expect which NO ONE showed. Definitely giving a like and subscribe. Thanks 👍🏽
Thank you so much! I’m really glad the review helped. I always want to keep it honest and show my real experience, which I understand may not be everyone’s experience. I appreciate the like and subscribe! I never know when I’ll have time to post or what I’ll post, as I do this for fun but there are some other vidoes up that you can check out :) Thanks again for watching!
I appreaciate the footage of the mess, always wanted to see how it looks after some days of use. I was sure it wouldnt stay clean and you proved my point so thank you. I was hesitating between those two robots and you helped me choose so again im very gratefull ❤
Glad it helped! If you have one or two cats, LR4 may stay cleaner longer. We have four, but we've always had two or three litter boxes running at the same time-and you see what we get, lol. The open design of the M1 versus the 360 dome just works better.
HA! That is funny, and I kind of wonder why, lol! Maybe because the litter boxes really tie the room together? But you can't ever go wrong watching The Big Lebowski again!
Even if i wasn't looking at a review of these two litter boxes, this has to be the best review I've ever seen. Real life use and shots of what it actually looks like with cats actually using it. And one major takeaway I got from it...... Don't eat cat litter! 😂
Thanks so much! I’mglad you found the review helpful - andnothing beats seeing these litter boxes in action with actual cats. And yeah, the biggest lesson here: definitely don’t eat the cat litter! Trust me, scented or unscented, it’s not a taste test you want to try. :)
Thanks! Hope it works for you and your cats! They have a 30-day, no-questions-asked return period, so if it doesn’t work, you’re not stuck with it. Also, I have an additional 7% off code in the description. Comment back after your cats have used it for a bit to let me know how it’s working for you!
Thank you, and thanks for watching! Everyone’s experience will be different, but what I shared has definitely been mine, and others I personally know, with the Litter Robot. Happy to say those issues are no more with the M1! I do still have both the LR and M1 running until I get another M1 or two!
Hi, thanks for watching! For me and my cats, it’s less about the litter or cycle time-I’ve tried all the litter! It’s more about the small, circular litter area in the LR. I’ve been emailing them since LR1, saying the litter area is too small, especially for the size of the unit. Some of my cats don’t get in the right position, and they miss the litter or parts of it, so the poop doesn’t dry or get covered properly. When it rotates, well… you see the mess. If your cats don’t have that issue, then the LR is definitely a great litter box! However, after using the M1, I really appreciate the open top-no smearing because the litter area is larger and deeper, and it’s so easy to clean! Even the way it cycles to sift the litter is way better to me. Neakasa did a great job for their first entry with the M1, and it will only get better, probably at a faster pace than Litter Robot, which really hasn’t improved much in 20 years except for adding app functionality I never use.
I purchased a LR4 about 2 months ago and am very happy with it's functionality on every one of the points you raised in this review. It took my cats a while to accept it, but now that they have, it's working as advertised and I could not be happier. I have not done a "deep clean" of my LR4 in about a month, and while it's not flawlessly clean, it doesn't look anything like the gross mess inside of your LR4. Is the LR4 worth the $700 price tag? Maybe not for a lot of folks, but it was for me. I have 4 cats, I am 70 years old, have mobility issues and severe lifting restrictions and was faced with the unthinkable choice of having to re-home my cats because keeping traditional litter boxes had become something I could no longer do. My purchase of the LR4 was a complete game changer.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m glad the LR4 has been a game changer for you, especially with your situation. It’s great to hear it’s working well for you and your cats! So don;t get me wrong, if your cats can use it proper and it is working for you - keep using it. I’ve used Litter Robot since LR1 and owned about 8 units in total, so I still liked it despite the issues I had to deal with. However, for me, the real game changer came with the Neakasa M1. I get all the benefits I liked from the LR-automatic cleaning, fresh litter-but without the negatives. Zero smearing, way easier to clean, and the larger rectangular litter area works perfectly for all my cats. If the LR4 works great for you, that’s awesome-it is still a great auto litter box with excellent support. But it seems like Neakasa paid attention to complaints from Litter Robot customers and decided to address them since LR wasn't! Is it a perfect litter box? No, but it’s their first one, and already better to me than the LR4, which LR has been around for over 20 years with the same issues since LR1. It feels like they never cared to listen to actual customers or evolve the design, or even create a new version of the LR to address these concerns.
Thanks for watching. Yes, it does get messy for me, but we have four cats, and two of them are very large, which makes it challenging with the smaller circle litter area and finding a good spot. I don’t expect it to be messy for all users, especially those with smaller cats, but it has been a problem for me since the Litter Robot 1. That’s why I was (an dam) always on the lookout for something better. The M1 is the first model since the LR1 in 2001 that I feel truly offers a better option. That still says a lot about how good the LR is that I couldn;t find anything better for so long, but also shows how great the M1 design is, making it my new choice!
Hi, thanks for watching! 😊 I’m glad you found it entertaining - I always try to keep the reviews genuine and fun, since I do this just for fun! If you liked this one, you might also enjoy my Betta SE Plus video. There's a great tip in that one that I think you'll really enjoy! Thanks again for your comment !
Cats poop shouldn’t be so loose that it runs and stains like that though. What litter are you using? Or more likely Its the food. A high quality, high protein diet would help give your cats healthy firm stool. My cat had loose stool once due to illness and it still didn’t do that. He is a good cover upper though. Some cats don’t cover and a litter robot probably isn’t best for that type of cat. I do use high quality litter and make sure the rotation is not set too fast. Dr Elsey’s Clay, No Dust Clay litter is a must have. Really great review! I’m tempted to switch. Maybe when they create a star step.
Hi, Thansk for watching! It isn’t really loose or runny. One of the bigger cats goes outside the litter area because it's a round and smaller space. Also, with the covered box, the positioning is limited. When poop is outside the litter ring, it will streak just due to how the Litter-Robot rotates 360 degrees. We only feed quality food-Fromm dry and BFF wet. Litter we use PrettyLitter or Boxiecat.
Thanks for watching! If you have no issues like I’ve had with the Litter Robot, then I think you’re good getting another one. The Litter Robot is a great option if it works for you and your cats. That said, it might also be worth trying the M1 to see how you and your cats like it-they offer a 30-day return and money-back guarantee, so nothing to lose. Comment back and let us know what you decided and how it turns out!
after 4 years i have finally had enough of my LR3. I was worried i would be stuck going with an LR4 since everything else on the market has some kind of caveat to it, but the Neakasa seems like it could actually be the better alternative. Thank you for doing this review
Hi, thanks for watching! That’s exactly how I felt! I’ve been using the Litter Robot since the original model because, despite its issues, it was the best option out of the numerous ones I’ve tried and wasted money on. I really didn’t have high hopes for the M1, but I was genuinely surprised by how much I liked it-especially considering it’s the first generation! I know some might think I’m dissing the Litter Robot, but keep in mind, it’s been my go-to litter box since 2000, and I’ve owned at least 8 of them. That’s still a great testament to the Litter Robot and their warranty. For me, though, the M1 just fixes what didn’t quite work for me and my cats with the Litter Robot. For others, the Litter Robot may still be the purrfect choice!
This is probably the most honest litter robot review I’ve seen. I’ve had two LR3 and the cost vs how quickly they stop working is very disappointing. I can’t say for the 4, but both 3’s had an issue with leaking urine from globe into the back of the base behind the drawer and I suspect like you say it’s the amount of litter space. The Neakasa looks amazing. I’ve unfortunately got my cats used to wood pellet litter & the last time I tried to use clumping, my biggest cat peed outside the box 😅 Put the wood litter back and he’s fine lol! I may consider one in addition to regular litter boxes though. I’m shocked at how many LR problems are solved in the Neakasa
Thanks for your comment! I’m glad you found the review helpful and appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the LR3 and Neakasa-sounds like we’ve had similar experiences. I didn’t even get into how often I’ve had issues with the Litter Robot stopping mid-cycle or getting stuck, though it seems to happen less with the LR4, likely due to improved sensors. Their customer support has also been excellent for me when issues arise. Cats can definitely be finicky about litter changes. Have you tried clumping wood pellets? It might be worth giving that a try with the M1. I’d love to hear how it goes if you decide to test it out! I have never used this one but have heard good things about this clumping wood litter , they hav e3 types of clumping you can see in the link amzn.to/3T3kcCF
Well, it's possible, but I do have a very good Trane Variable Speed AC with humidity control and a digital readout that shows the humidity percentage. Our in-house humidity is typically around 45-55%, which is super important in Florida or anywhere. Below 40% is dry, and above 60% can cause mold and dust mites-not good for allergies! I think the streaking in the litter box is more due to the larger cats missing some of the small litter area, so when the litter box rotates, that stuff gets all over. I still think the LR needs a larger litter area
I really appreciate this review. A friend of mine has the Litter Robot 4 and she loves it - she's been trying to talk me into getting one for awhile now. So I finally decided to do some research and see what would actually be best for my cats (one is 14 yrs old, 22 lbs and diabetic - so he pees ..a LOT). But I also have to take into consideration that I am 62 yrs old, with COPD and other health issues. Doing the 2 regular litterboxes we have has become very difficult for me. After watching this comparison review, I think the Neakasa M1 is going to be exactly what I need. It's not "hooded" so I will be able to see into it easily to keep it clean, and my older cat won't be having such a limited space to do his "business". My older cat really HATES anything mechanical, but I think after watching how both of these work, he will be okay with the self-cleaning motion of the M1 Neakasa more than that of a spinning Litter Robot. I missed a Lightning Sale ($479) on Amazon today, so I'll wait until (hopefully) another sale comes along soon - it's "waiting" in my cart for when that happens. Thank you so much! I'm not "on the fence" now! 😉😁
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! It sounds like you've put a lot of consideration into what will work best for both you and your cats. I'm glad the review helped you make a decision-especially with your older cat's needs and your own health in mind. The Neakasa M1’s open design and gentle self-cleaning motion should be a great fit. It is very easy to clean! No box is perfet but this is close! I think the official Neakasa site has the sale going on thill Sep 22nd right now, and I have a code for an addditonal 7% off that you can use Both the link and the code are in the description below.
@@OTFCR Thank you SO MUCH! I just happened to catch this notification and got my order in today using your promo code! I'm super excited, and what a great discount.
Excellent video, very clear, very well done, best I have seen on comparisons of these two! and this has helped me to decide to go with the M1. (In the future would you please not blur the mess? We really need to see what you are talking about.). FYI I also understand they are taking out the trap door in the next M1 model, which will be a problem for odor, so am considering buying one now before that model comes out.
Thanks for watching the video and your comment! I’m glad it helped you decide to give the M1 a try. Please update in the comments on how it’s working out or if you encounter any issues. It would be great to hear experiences from other M1 users as well since it is a newer product. I appreciate your feedback about not blurring the mess-maybe a special unedited, ‘not for the faint of heart’ video could be an option! I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future videos to ensure everything is clear. Also, I hadn’t heard about the trap door change yet. It’s definitely something to consider, and I may reach out to them to get more details and update you on what I find out!
Thank you so much for your video! It helped a lot, we actually ordered the LR4 and we returned and got the Neakasa instead! BTW, we loved your energy and personality! Keep making videos ❤
Thank you and thanks for watching!! I’m really glad the video helped, and it’s great to hear you’re giving the Neakasa a try to see if it’s a better fit! I’d love to hear how it works out for you and your cats after you’ve had some time with it. They do have a good return policy, so your good if it doesn’t work out! I really appreciate your kind words! I just make these videos for fun when I have time, but I’ll definitely keep them coming-not sure when or what topic, but there will be something! :)
Thanks so much for this . I've had a nightmare I've gone through 6 auto litter trays in a year and a half all with major major flaws. The nakasa looks like the one for me.
Thanks for watching! The M1 is still working awesome for me; I’ll be buying another one soon! As this is the first model, I do expect some issues, but they will improve. So far, I really haven’t had any significant problems at all!
@OTFCR well thankyou so much again it was this video that encouraged to buy it . Really useful information. I don't like reviews much that are made after a few days or weeks of use as to me it's not significant to find the flaws. If it can handle all your cats (they're gorgeous btw) it can handle my 3 . Great news to hear it's working great. I was one step away from going back to a manual tray and really didn't want to
I have both at the same time for abt a month n frankly I prefer the litter robot! My cats aren’t messy cat but… my litter robot is nice n clean - I have the time set b4 dump at 7 mins n my cars do a good job at covering it up - so when it dumps, there’s no residual left on the glob, no issues! But the Neakasa is messier n stuff gets stuck in the grates n was given stickers to prevent leakage (didn’t know that was an issue - when I got it) frankly I feel I wish I would have just got a litter robot 4 instead of the Neakasa
Thanks for watching! That’s great to hear that the Litter-Robot works for you and your cats! If it’s easier for you, then it’s the best choice. The Litter-Robot is a good product with excellent support, and I still have two, with one still running alongside the M1. Not every box will work for every owner or cat, but stick with what you like and what works for you! I’ve had eight Litter-Robots, so I’m not against them at all. As mentioned , for me, I think teh M1 and Litter Robot are the two best out there now. In the end we just want our cats happy, healthy and our boxes clean for them so whichever box does that for you - it is the right box to use! I’ve been using the M1 for about six months now and still love it. It’s super easy to clean, and the larger litter and open top work better for my bigger cats-they hit the litter every time. So, for me and my big cats, the M1 is a better choice (we’ll see long-term, though). I’ve heard that if cats urinate in an unusual way or at a high spot, they might need those stickers. However, you will also encounter issues with the Litter-Robot if your cat doesn’t use the litter properly or go correctly in the litter. What I will say is that the Litter-Robot is in its fourth generation and has been around since 2001. So they’ve had time to improve on it, and even then some issues still persist for certain users. The M1 is thier first Gen 1 model, and from what I’ve heard (though I’m not entirely sure), they are incorporating consumer feedback. The issue you mentioned might be one of the improvements they will integrate!
I have LR2 and do not have the smearing issues you show here. I do use the LR litter and I believe the cycle time from use to empty is 8 minutes. I wash this out maybe every 4-6 weeks and not because it's gross but because I feel like I should. I have other issues with it and am looking into replacing it with a Neakasa so really appreciate this side-by side review.
The LR2 was made by the original manufacturer. The LR3/4 (which are what he has) are made by a U.S. company I believe who bought the rights. I can attest that these later models have issues with poop sticking to the interior walls. I wish my LR2 had not died because the LR3 was a disaster. The LR4 (in the thumbnail) is a tiny bit better in regards to the app and some functions, but the interior material is subpar. My cat was able to even scratch through the LR3 liner just from normal use.
Thanks for watching! The issue for me is with the circular and smaller litter area in the LR. I’ve emailed them since LR1 saying the litter area is too small, especially for the size of the LR! Some of my cats just don’t get in a great position, and they miss the litter or parts of it, so the poop doesn’t dry or get covered. When it rotates, well… you see what happens! If your cats don’t have that problem, then the LR is a great litter box; I’ve used it since LR1. For me, though, using the M1, I never have smearing issues, and it just works so much better for my cats, having the larger rectangular shape for the litter area, which is more like a regular litter box.
I didn’t know it was a different manufacturer making them-that makes sense. When I got the LR4, my first thought was, "Why does this one seem cheaper in terms of material and quality, yet cost more?
Thanks for the video! I have had every litter robot since the first one. When they die I just bought a new one. Despite issues with it there were never any viable competitors. Meanwhile their prices go up and up. As you allude to what is so frustrating about Litter Robot are the fundamental issues that they carry over from generation to generation. They add all these bells and whistles without addressing the fundamental flaws. It actually looks like the 4 is harder to deep clean than the 3 and that is saying something! Additionally even after 4 generations the litter robot looks like something made in a guys basement. The build quality and fit and finish are really lacking especially at this price point. Thier competition at half the price is killing them in that category. After my second base on my LR3 died I had enough and boy was I blown away at how many competitors there are now. I refuse to pay the insane price of the LR4. I have done a lot of research and just picked up the M1 for $400 on prime day sale.
Thansk for watching! Yes. everything you mentioned was well said and accurate to my own experience. That's exactly it-I've used them since LR1 until now despite the flaws and frustrations because nothing else was better. The M1 is actually the very first alternative option that convinced me to switch!
I emailed Neakasa for the stickers to put around the rubber lining for leaks, and asked when they were planning to make the upgrades you mentioned in your video to fix some of the issues, and surprisingly they told me they were planning to release a new version with these upgrades sometime in August, though that they did not have an exact release date yet. This kind of had me questioning whether or not I should return my Neakasa M1 that just got here (oh which by the way, they already send it with a pack of stickers now!), and wait to see what they upgraded in the new version. Although I've already had it foe 2 days and it's been working great so far with my 2 cats, so I might just keep it for now and wait until the new one goes on sale in the future.
That is good to know they are incorporating feedback and updates! For most folks, it should not be an issue. I took the entire box apart and noticed a little on the inside. We have one cat that does pee high, so that is probably why. They are sending me those rubber lining stickers as well, and I will have a video of all that. I'm really glad to see they take the feedback! I still need to purchase another one as well. I really do like it and for teh first gen they did a great job on it!!
Thank you, and thanks for watching! LOL, this is me edited down! 😂 But hey, I added chapters, so you can skip straight to the point if you want. Glad you enjoyed the review!
I'm looking for an automatic litter box and you may have sold me on the M1. I will be out on vacation for 9 days and I want to make sure I get a litter box that will be safe, roomy, and clean for precious spoiled little brat. Thank you for an excellent and very detailed review. I especially needed to see the true interior measurements. My cat needs her space so she can be comfortable inside, and have enough depth for digging, and not peeing or pooping on the walls. :)
Hi, thanks for watching the visdeo . I'm glad you found the review helpful! The M1's open top, spacious interior and deeper litter area were big selling points for me too,. When I go on vacation, I still put out a standard non-auto box just in case, and we have cat sitters come by daily to check on them and feed them. If you do decide to get the M1, definitely comment back and let us all know how it works for you and your cat. I've found that no automatic litter box is perfect yet , but for the first release of the M1, they came pretty close!
What kind of litter are you using and how soon after the cat exits is the cleaning cycle set to run? Also, have you tried the "Cleaner Spray" put out by Litter Robot? My understanding is it dissolves poop that sticks to the liner.
Thanks for the info! I’m using Boxiecat and Pretty Litter, both premium options, and haven’t had any issues with them in my M1. I’m also using the default time delay. I didn’t know about the "Cleaner Spray," but since I still have one LR4 in use, I’ll definitely get it and give it a try. Thanks for the tip!
Hi, I'm glad the review helped! If you do get the M1, comment back with how it works out for you and your cats. I think you'll be happy with your choice but if not they do have a good return policy!
Hi, Thank you for watching ! I totally understand-these auto litter boxes can be a big investment. Keep an eye out for sales, though; there might be a good deal around Black Friday. Hopefully, you’ll be able to snag one at a discount!
Totally agree about Litter Robot. I threw mine out because the cleaning was such a problem. I went back to a manual steel box. Much easier to keep clean.
Ha! I've been told that before! I have a few pictures from many years ago where, side by side, the resemblance was very uncanny. Now, it's a little less every day. :) Who knows , next video I may have Curly Hair, I saw some great tips !!
Anyone have ideas on keeping the wet pee litter from sticking to the liner? My cat pees in the same two spots in the front. I'm scared to scrub it off and ruin the liner. Someone once mentioned a spray? Thanks
That sounds like it’s on the Litter Robot! Funny you mention that, because I’ve had the same issue-always getting that fried, hard litter stuck on the very front, and it’s tough to clean unless you catch it immediately. I haven’t had that problem at all with the M1. It’s been much easier to keep clean.
Litter Robot was bought by a U.S. company I think and that is who has produced versions 3 and 4. I didn't have a huge problem with the interior of the 1 and 2 which were produced by a Japanese company. A U.S. company bought it and the 3 and 4 have been not so great. Our cats ripped a hole in LR 3 and it broke down a lot. On the LR4 I have to actually scrape stuff off the interior and I've tried 3 different litters so I also think the interior material is the issue. The LR1 and 2 "bladder" material was a bit thicker and more rigid. I also think the "smearing" has created a problem with one of my cats - if a box is a bit dirty he'll just poop on the floor so I would have to clean the LR daily which kind of defeats the purpose of the automatic box.
I posted in another comment, but I didn’t know it was a different manufacturer making them-that makes sense now! When I got the LR4, my first thought was, "Why does this one seem cheaper in terms of material and quality, yet cost more?" Also, after just 1 month, the liner tore on me-that never happened with the older LR models I had. I also don’t like the back cover piece over the dome, it feels very flimsy, cheap, and it doesn’t line up correctly.
I really want to get the Neakasa M1, but the only thing holding me back is that its open on top. Right now we just have a big tote container as the litter box in a hallway closet, and the closet is COVERED in dust from the litter. So I was considering the LR4 since its closed on top and would probably mitigate the dust going up and everywhere in the closet. We use Dr. Elseys "Ultra" litter, as it clumps well for us and supposedly 99.9% dust free, but most cat litters advertise that and doesnt seem to be true in our case. Do you notice any dust in the surrounding area with the Neakasa M1? And what litter do you use?
I use Boxie Pro amzn.to/3Ska7R4 Maybe give PrettyLitter a try. We used that for a long time, and I think it has very little dust or tracking because it is silica gel crystals. It even monitors the cat's health by the color once they use it. Just be sure to get the clumping version.
@@wokowuku4583 I don't really have an issue with it. I think give the PrettyLitter a try with a really cheap regular open litter box to see what you think before getting the M1. PrettyLitter is a 99% dust-free litter
The M1 is great for keeping dust down. I use naturally fresh walnut litter at 80% capacity with 15min cleaning cycle. The open pan I had before was bad with dust, on the walls and everything surrounding it a foot away (still better than when I used clay-based though) with brown dust. The first time I went to clean the M1 and surrounding area, I was surprised that there was virtually nothing on the walls. I only used one sheet of damp paper towel to collect the dust, and not much to show, whereas before I would use three.
I have had the M1 for about 3 weeks now with 3 cats. 2 of them heavily use it. One once in a while. It has been flawless. Like I can't believe how good it is. We are trying the Boxie litter because reviews say how good it is in robots not getting pissed through and sticking to the bottom. So far so good except it does seem to track out like crazy. Prime day had the M1 at 399. Bummed I missed it. I told my big cat if he would just reliably use it he could have his own. If it goes on sale again later this year I would buy another. I think it will almost fit in my van I need to take some serious measurements as it does it's cleaning cycle to see if maybe it would fit in the litter compartment we have. It might just be too tall. It is pretty cool to get a reminder to empty the waste bin and find 18lbs of clumps in there seeing it is working so well.
I was honestly surprised how well it worked too! And the open top is so nice and easy to clean. We use BoxiePro and also love PrettyKitty litter. I think the PrettyKitty tracked very little litter outside the box. I did find a small issue but spoke to Neakasa support, and it looks like they are aware and addressing it. I will do a video on that soon!
Thanks for watching! I just looked up Meowant. I think they are relatively the same size. From what I see, the Meowant automatic litter box has a round litter area with a diameter of around 16.5 inches. The Neakasa M1 has a rectangular-shaped litter area, approximately 17.7 inches by 14 inches. The rectangular shape of the M1 generally offers more flexibility for cats to position themselves compared to the round designs. I may try the Meowant anyway just to ceck it out
@HokuloaBeebe I have the Meowant SC02. Two cats. Small girl fits well. But only will pee in it. Used old box for her poos. Large Siamese male got in it. He TRIED to turn twice. Very cramped. Immediately went to the old Lg box. Tried cleaning both out and using same TidyCat litter so they wouldn't have a scent preference. I'm giving it a week before I return it 😔. I love it though...but it's not MY toilet ! LOL... Very well designed, sturdy, super easy to wipe clean. Extremely quiet. Didn't startle the cats (it's near their food area)..Works with tofu litter and standard. No odor at all ..but since there has only been pee clumps in it, I can't speak to any poo smell in the container. Based on its design though, doubt it would be an issue. (If I return it, I'm responsible for return shipping)
Thanks for the video. I am enjoying the Neakasa M1 thanks to you. I was wondering if the armor all wipes for autos might be an alternative for cleaning? Pam is too oily to create a non-sticking surface. Armor all protectant would seem to provide a better non-stick surface made for plastic or rubber surfaces.
Thansk for watching! I clean the M1 with just a little soap and water, and I haven’t had any waste stick to it due to how it cleans and empties the waste, so it hasn’t been a problem. I’d be cautious about using anything like PAM, though I’ve seen people trying it on the Litter Robot in forums. There are sprays designed to help prevent waste from sticking, and another person commented that Litter Robot sells a cleaning spray and wipes on their site, so that might be a safe option to try for any box. I’m planning to get those myself and use them in both the M1 and the LR4! Here is a link I found that shows both the spray and wipes but you can go to the Litter Robot offical page and purchase them indivdually amzn.to/46Xj7lx
Thanks! I still use my LR4 too. I like having a few boxes running, especially if we are out for a while. But I will be purchasing another M1 or two, so the LR4 may end up being a backup. The open top design is much better for me and my cats, and it cleans the litter just as well as the LR. Time will tell how they hold up or how support is.
Do you think i can eliminate the three litter boxes and go down to this one? A client of mine recommended a nekasa. I ordered it as its on sale right now. She did a ton or research and I have maincoon a large barn type cat and stealthy hause panther. I hope they like it! We clean 3 boxes every other day and if were off by a few hours 🙄 one will pee outside box (they arent that bad! Hes just a virgo) So happy I ordered a m1! Dont have it yet but now watching in anticipation. Any suggestions on transitioning from an analog litterbox to the digital 😂 Thanks beautiful cat man!
You need 2 litter boxes if you have two cats. You will end up dumping out these boxes every other day. It’s tedious because it actually stops before it’s full. You gave to open the tray and spread it out so it will fill up. 1 cat I change it out fully every 4-5 days.
Looking foward to hearing how you and your cats liek teh M1 once you get it!! The M1 has a 30-day return policy, so if you don’t like it, you’re covered. Also, in the description is a code for 7% off.
Thanks for watching! It’s great to hear that it’s working for you and your cats. Please update us in the comments on how it’s doing in the longer term!
Hi, thanks for watching! I’m glad the video helped you make a decision. So far, I still love the M1! It works better for my cats, and in my opinion, it's easier to clean. I also really like the open-top design, especially for my larger cats, so I’ll be purchasing another M1! That said, if the Litter-Robot works for you and your cats, and you don’t get the mess I do from the (larger) cats missing the litter, it’s still a great option (Ive used LR for years!) However, I think the M1 just does it a little better and with less mess or cylce issues Best of luck with your new M1, and thanks again for watching!
You just made my day! Thank you for the kind words-I truly appreciate it. Your uplifting and positive message to a stranger like me says a lot about your kind heart and spirit. We definitely need more of that! Sending good vibes your way , and to everyone reading this! Check out th other videos, some better than others lol
i have 3 bengals and these robots always just look like the litter area is way too small. and i dont like that its still plastic with how expensive it is. the drum should be stainless steel so it doesnt absorb odors. they can still shape it the same and it can still spin.
Bengals are awesome cats! I would love it if it were a stainless steel drum, or how about a carbon fiber surface! It could have some type of removable liner to make it easier to clean. I would be the first to try that if they did.
I have 2 bengals and was worried they wouldn’t use it, but after the second day they wouldn’t use anything but the Neakasa. I still have 2 large litter boxes just sitting unused, they haven’t gone near them in over a month! What if they both want to go at the same time? I’m considering getting a second.
I haven’t seen that issue with the M1. I also have the M1 litter mat in front of it, and to me, it’s just the normal, nominal amount I would expect. The litter I use is also low tracking, but no, I don’t see the cats raking the litter out. I think the lip around the litter area is high enough to prevent that.
Thank you for this video! I had bought 2 Neakasa during Amazon recent prime day. I have no experience with autimatic litter boxes. My daughter just bought litter robot 4 and i thought maybe it would be better since the Robot has been around forever. No way! Not after seeing one which has been in use. Yuck. I have used the Neakasa fir about a week with no mess like that and its really easy to wipe being open.
Whelp, I bought it lol. My LR4 currently needs to be deep cleaned and I HATE the nooks and crannies! Ugh! And the nasty little “fur” seal above the waste bin opening. We have a cat with a sensitive tummy so having a larger litter area will help with not stepping on his poop. We tried the Popur, but that one kept pushing the cat out of the box when it was trying to spread the litter out. A couple different times my cats tried to go behind the grate when it was smoothing out the litter. It does not stop when the cat does this. The popur is awful. Anyway, this box is like that design with all the flaws fixed! The very first thing I said about the Popur is that it should just rotate forward to spread the litter instead of using the filter grate to spread it out. This has fewer moving parts and looks so much easier to clean.
Oh, that's great! I'm really curious to hear how you and your cats like it, and if you encounter any issues. I'd love updates on your experience, whether positive or negative, but hopefully, it works out well for you! I haven't tried the Popur because I'm not a fan of the accordion feature on it for some reason. Maybe I should give it a try and compare all three, haha! I do like the few parts of the M1. As it cycles, it sort of pauses here and there to shake the litter! Brilliant
@@OTFCR it just got here today and I set it up. I noticed it also does the “auto-cover” thing where it tilts forward and back to try to make sure the 💩 is covered with litter! What a smart idea! They used it immediately and I don’t think they’ve gone in the litter robot since the new one has been set up. They are big 13.5 lb ragdolls so the open design seems much more comfortable for them. In another review they mentioned that the trap door above the waste bin could potentially get soiled and pull gunk into the machine. He put brush style weather stripping around the top of the trap door to help push anything off the door that might have accidentally ended up on there. I ordered some to do the same thing. Replacing weather stripping is much easier than opening up and cleaning the whole machine.
@@Itsme.KatieG That is a good idea with the brush style weather stripping; I may look into that myself! I really haven’t had a big issue with that, but I did open the entire box to see what was inside. I will be posting a video on that. When you clean, make sure to clean the trap door as well. Also, it sounds like Neakasa will be making improvements to the M1 based on feedback, so that is great to see! Comment in a few months , would like to know how it is going with the M1 after soem time has passed!
I’d rate their customer service as pretty good based on my limited experience with them. Personally, I’ve only reached out a couple of times-once after I ordered the M1 on Indiegogo to get some updates, and they were always super responsive to my questions. Later, after I received the box, I had a question about it and was able to talk to a live support person fairly quickly. They even sent me some stickers to use on the liner, which was great. I also heard from someone who purchased the M1 but decided to stick with a manual litter box (nothing against the M1-they returned the Litter Robot too; they just prefer a manual, stationary box). They had no issues getting support and a return label to ship it back, which speaks well for their customer service and honoring their return policy
I think you are giving your cat(s) too much wet food and using lower-quality litter that does not clump well. But anyways, great video. I really appreciate the reviews and comparisons, and I subscribed!
Thank you for watching the video and subscribing! I appreciate that! I give my cats only 1 can of Weruva BFF wet food split between the 4 cats per day- so very little. As for litter, I've tried nearly every brand on the market! Currently, I'm using Boxie-Pro by Boxie, a premium litter that has won several awards. However, regardless of the reason, I don't have to worry about it at all with M1 Neakasa, Since it's not a 360-degree rotating globe, that's why it's my preferred choice. Others may do perfectly fine with LR; it just hasn't been my experience since LR1. Maybe I just have always had big, messy cats! 😄
Great point! It can definitely be tricky to deep clean during freezing winter days. However, you can always clean it indoors-using a sink or even the bathtub works just fine. Once you dump the litter, there’s not much left to worry about. I’ve used my bathtub to clean it before, and it works perfectly well for a thorough wash!
@OTFCR Hard to get past that $500 price tag on the Neakasa. No one since 2002 on TH-cam ever showed what a mess can accumulate in the Litter Robot in their review. Could it be if you are sent a product for review - because they are so expensive I can't see most people buying one - you are told to make the product look clean? I suppose you got one free initially?
@@markmurto I purchase everything myself. My channel is far too small and inconsistent to get stuff sent to me. I just do this for fun! I was a backer (#1014) on Indiegogo in October 2023 and received the Neakasa M1 in February 2024. I even did a video where I unboxed it. (link at end) In this video, both the M1 and the LR4 were cleaned about 9 days prior and then used for the same amount of time. I didn’t pre-clean or pre-dirty anything-what do I have to gain? I don’t own stock in Litter-Robot or Neakasa, LOL. I’ve been using the Litter-Robot since it launched in 2000, and while it’s been the best option for me for years, I’ve always had issues. I’ve tried many alternatives, but the M1 was the first to take the top spot for me-and going forward, it’s what I’ll be purchasing. Not everyone has the problems I’ve had, but enough people do that there are Reddit threads discussing them, with users sharing advice on how to improve waste sliding. Hi , did you ever had the issue with the Neakasa M1 where the litter box could not complete the clean process because the door gets stuck?? In summary the bottom chamber door will not completely close so according to customer support it can be closed manually but it's annoying to do that every time the door gets jammed.
A few weeks after I made this video, I had one instance of that. I decided to go ahead and clean the box and found that I had some waste on that trap door. I just wiped it down, and it worked fine after that, so a regular cleaning routine should help prevent that, as I haven’t had it happen again. I did see someone mention that Neakasa is looking to improve that. I may post a video of that and a deep cleaning where I took it all apart!
I don't know about the litter robot 4, but the litter robot 3 pissed me off. It's about 2-3 years old. I get that electronics have issues the more they run. I have 3 boys. With the 3, the pinch sensor is a big issue. I've had to replace it after 1 year of having it and then I've had to clean it multiple times. Litter and litter dust, etc should not be getting into this part of the unit. I've had to start traveling for work and I've had a caretaker taking care of my cats. During one of these trips, the litter robot malfunctioned (it was the punch sensors being dirty, which requires you to take the base apart with a screwdriver). I couldn't make the caretaker do this maintenance so i had to ship her a normal litter box and scoop. It was a major pain and caused lots of anxiety. I just bought the Neakasa. My boys took to it immediately. It's a lot cheaper. We'll see how it holds up for 3 years. Pretty much 1k for a litter box is crazy after you are upgrading and have to get new accessories. I'm optimistic. 😊
I’ve definitely had my share of issues with the Litter-Robot and the sensors. I’ve had to replace them and other parts too. Luckily, they covered the cost of the parts, but you’d think after four generations of the Litter-Robot, those issues would be resolved. Yet, the same problems persist even with the LR4. That’s why I always ran two Litter-Robots at the same time, but even then, I didn’t fully trust them. I always bought standard plastic litter boxes as a backup when I went on vacation or work trip. I do have people come to take care of the pets, but they wouldn’t know how to fix the LR if it stopped. The Neakasa is so far, so good for me! It’s definitely more affordable, and I’m hopeful it’ll hold up over time. It’s promising, especially since this is their first generation. They seem eager to improve the M1 by listening to feedback, which is a good sign
I have three cats, two of them are 19 plus pounds and the other has wet loose bowel movements. I've had my Litter-Robot for 3 plus years now and I've never had smearing. You may need to add more litter or allow more time between cycles.
I'm glad the Litter-Robot works well for you and your cats! Every cat is different, and the Litter-Robot can be a great solution for many owners. We always keep the litter filled to the ring, so that’s not the issue for us. The problem comes from the round, small litter area-some of my cats position themselves in a way that waste falls outside the litter. Since it doesn’t get covered, it ends up smeared when the box rotates. If your cats don’t have this issue, that’s great! But for me, the Neakasa M1 solved the problem-my four cats started using it right away, and I’ve had no smearing issues since.
Depends on what the purpose is. I have health issues and appreciate the robot scoops after every use, even on days where I need to crawl into bed right after work. The cleaning (mine never gets that gross!) can be scheduled when I'm feeling up to it. My cats have a regular box, but they choose to use the robot exclusively. Also, one of my cats takes dust baths in the box. I'd prefer he do this in a clean box, and the robot ensures the box is always freshly scooped.
It does, but it's worth it to have a clean litter box after every use, so I don't have to see the mess and the cats walk into a clean box. Both LR4 and M1 are great; the open design of the M1 works better for me and is super easy to spot clean and even deep clean
I'm not far into the video, you're talking about the liner for the LR4 and how waste sticks to it. I have had mine for 2 or 3 years and have only cleaned the bladder/liner once and that was early on when my cat was first learning it and someone had given her some people food, which gave her diarrhea. I use 100% bentonite crumbles. I buy a 50# bag once every few months and t costs like $10 or less. This bentonite doesn't make any more dust than "dustless" litter brands and it is harmless if ingested, it actually gets used in some animal feeds. I have the cycle delay set at 15 minutes. I'm not saying the bladder is shiny clean, but it doesn't look gross like the one in the video and it has literally been YEARS since I've cleaned it. I look forward to the rest of the video.
Thanks for watching! I’m glad the Litter-Robot works well for you! I’ve used it since the LR1 and have spent a lot on them. It works and is of high quality, but I think the main issue is the litter area being round and small. My cats often miss it, and the rotation ensures that any waste not dried by the litter will streak. I’m happy that I now have a better alternative with the M1! For the longest time, nothing could surpass the Litter-Robot for me, even with the issues I’ve had with it. I still have the LR4 running, so I might switch the litter to what you mentioned. However, I think my larger cats will still miss the smaller, round area, and it looks like they are using the M1 the majority of the time now. I’ve had this problem to varying degrees of inner messiness with the Litter-Robot liner since the LR1 in 2001. I’ve emailed Litter-Robot about almost every edition, tried different cats and foods, and even talked to people who stopped using the Litter-Robot because of the same issues. The design of the LR involves rotation, and if the poop is not completely dry, it will streak. I do not have this problem at all with the M1. There are zero issues with streaking, and since I can add more litter to the M1, it works better at drying the waste. The design also allows the cats more room to use the litter box, so they never miss the litter area liek they do with the LR4. Consequently, the poop is always dry, and since it doesn’t rotate, it never streaks. I also question teh Liner of teh LR4 , I showed in the video the other LR4 I have and teh liner is already tearing and that is about 1 month to maybe 2 months of use.
First of all, what are you feeding your cats?!? My litter robots have never ever looked like that and I have 6 cats that all go in the same boxes!! So my guess it's a food issue to some degree. I agree the liner on the LR-4 leaves something to be desired compared to the LR-3. Wish they would switch back to the LR-3 material liner. But aside from that LR-3/4 is by far still the best out there in terms of longevity and reliability plus customer service. Nothing is perfect so expecting that from a litter box with cats that have different preferences for "how they go" my cats pretty much cover the gamet and I'm happy with my LR-4. My cats have always preferred to be covered in the box, even old style regular boxes got covered, so cats just won't say what they prefer. It may seem your cats like that new style more but in truth they likely like the cleanliness of it more. If you spot clean it more because it's easier then of course they are going to use the newer one more. Yet as I said my LR-4 has never ever looked like that but I fed my cats the diet they were meant to eat and I use Dr. Else's litter with no problem. For the entire globe to get stuck on that way I'd have to really neglect my cat boxes. I mean some of my cats don't even bury their trip/drop... they scratch the sides of the box instead of the litter... and with six cats the box never looked like that. Look into what you're feeding your cats, my guess that's 90% of your box issues. That you see poop like that smeared all over is a sign something is wrong with one or more of your cats. Checking the litter box is 50% about checking in on the health of your cats. Maybe that other box is the fix to your problems but I find it hard to believe their poop is different in each box. And wiping down more often is what I see as the difference between the two. You prefer the open one so you clean it more often, hence it seems to be better. As for the litter depth, most cats don't like 3 inches of litter under them. They prefer to "uncover" where they go and "recover" after they are done. So it's all perspective.
Hi! Thanks for watching! I’m genuinely glad that you and your cats are happy with the Litter Robot! This is just my experience and preference, and others may have different experiences. But as long as our feline friends are happy and healthy that is all good! The Litter Robot is a very solid machine that I have used since it came out in 2000. I’ve used it with different cats, different food, and different litters, and through it all, I still had the streaking on the inside issue. However, I continued using the LR because, like you said, it was still the best option-a quality product with amazing support that has been in the market for 24 years-and something I could deal with, as nothing is perfect. The sticking and streaking have been common complaints over the years. There are plenty of other reports from users about experiencing issues with waste streaks inside the Litter Robot. Some users have suggested using sprays to help prevent waste from sticking to the Litter Robot's inner lining, such as clear silicone spray to create a non-stick barrier, although this solution only worked for a few days. Other users have mentioned trying hydrophobic solutions like Liquid Off or NeverWet, which are designed to repel moisture and might help with the sticking issue. Additionally, there are commercial non-stick sprays specifically designed for litter boxes, such as Litter Care and Lady N-Non-Stick Cat Litter Box Spray, which some users claimed were effective in reducing sticking. I know other folks who stopped using the Litter Robots for the same reason I listed about the inner lining and streaking. I even got confirmation from several people before making the video that this was a big issue and a negative reason for why they won’t buy another one. I would love to see Litter Robot address this complaint. Our cats see the vet and they are extremely healthy, never had an issue. I feed my cats very good food! Fromm for dry food and Weruva B.F.F. for wet, with the proper recommended daily amount. After this video im thinking about buying M1... Just one issue... I plan to put it under the table 28 inches tall... Do you think its enough for 15 lbs cat to fit in it?
Absolutely, the height of the M1 is just under 20 inches, so it should fit under the table fine. Also, one of our cats is over 15 lbs and uses the M1 with no problem, because of the open top and the litter area being a good size it works great , and from floor to the litter area is just 5 to 6 inches so it is easy for the cat to get in and out.
Maybe you dont give it enough time to clump. Whats ur timer setting set to? Also it seems some has lil diarrhea lol which also plays a big role so it wont matter what litter you use, but definitely need to let it sit longer before cleaning mode. (Helps with poop marks)
I’ve tried a lot of different options. Like I mentioned, I’ve had the Litter-Robot since the original model in 2001. I've had different cats, used various foods, and even know others who stopped using them due to similar issues and plenty of threads online about it. It seems to be a design problem: it rotates, so any non-clumped, not-fully-dried waste can cause problems. Additionally, it has more areas to clean. If it works for someone else and they don’t experience the mess, it’s a great-quality box with excellent support. However, I’ve found that the open top and the way the M1 actually moves to clean the litter work much better for me. Right from the start the M1 worked perfect with the litter I use, the default time delay is spot on and I have no mess after a cycle.
Yeah, not every litter box will be the same experience for cats and their owners. If your cats tend to pee high and bypass the litter, the M1 might not work perfectly for them, but it could still be worth a try. For cleaning the box and grill area, it’s super easy. You can use cleaning wipes specifically designed for litter boxes, or simply empty the litter from the M1, remove the top part, and hose it down!
the only things ive seen the litter robot do better in is keeping the litter in the machine and as someone else mentioned better support. if I do buy one however my money is going to the m1 especially with it being on sale for prime days right now for 399.99
I feel with my cats, the litter outside the box is about the same. The Litter Robot offers great support and a warranty that has been proven for 20 years, so that is a big plus. I can say I have been in contact with Neato support after purchase to see how it is, and so far they have been very responsive and easy to get a hold of, so that could be a good sign.
I'm glad the Litter-Robot 4 works well for you! Every cat is different. For me, the smaller, round litter area caused my larger cats to miss, and the waste would smear when the box rotated. After switching to the Neakasa M1, the issue disappeared, and my cats adjusted right away. If I hadn’t had this problem, I’d still be using the Litter-Robot. The M1 solved it-why can’t Litter-Robot do the same for those of us with this issue?
LR4 liners are horrible my cats always tear it up. the weight sensors are unnecessary idc how much the cat weighs it just an extra point of failure. needs a stronger motor. i use Sustainably Yours litter i will not use anything else. Also would like to disable to 4th button, that button dumps all the litter into the bottom waste tray i press it alot of time unintentionally due to creating an open cabinet for it.
Hi, thanks for watching! I have to agree on the LR4 liner, you can see in my video the one I show is already tearing apart, and that was after just a month! Seems worse than the previous liners on LR1 through LR3. However, I will say the Litter Robot support was awesome, and they sent me a new globe piece. It would be nice to deactivate buttons via the app to prevent accidental pressing. That’s a great suggestion-you may want to send it to them!
We have one 3kg cat and had the L4 for 4 weeks. In that time we have emptied the bin twice (every 14 days) which is when we clean the drum. Seriously I could get away with just wiping (spot cleaning) the inside of the drum, there is nothing like the mess you have. Lucky I guess we have a cat that poos and urinates in the clumping clay. * * * * * product
Hi, thanks for watching! Yeah, every cat is different, so the LR can be a perfect fit for many cat owners. It’s a good product-if you don’t get the mess or have smaller cats , one cat or on ethat hits the smaller litter area, the Litter Robot is still a top option -one I’ve been using it since the very first LR came out! We have four cats, and two of them are fairly big, so they seem to have some issues with the LR. Now they appear to exclusively use the Neakasa M1-I think they appreciate the open top and extra room, and they never miss in the M1, so I’m happy!
First, thanks for watching! Second, I assure you that this review, like all my reviews, is completely unbiased. I’ve been using the Litter Robot since 2000, and these are the consistent issues I’ve encountered after owning about eight of them and consistently sending feedback. I’ve tried many other products, but none were as good as the Litter Robot, even with its issues. So, when I purchased the M1 and found that it resolved those issues for me, I was thrilled. As I’ve mentioned before, if the Litter Robot works for you, it’s a great product with excellent support. However, I now prefer the M1 and will continue to use it until I find something better. That said, nothing is perfect, and the M1 is no exception. I’ll share some of my observations after 10 months of use. Regarding the affiliate link: I uploaded this video on July 1st, and over a month later, on August 15th to be exact, Neakasa reached out to offer me an affiliate link. This means I’ll earn a small commission if someone makes a purchase through the link, similar to the Amazon links that I, or anyone on TH-cam, might share. They did not sponsor me, nor did they send me any products for free or at a discount. The only communication I’ve had with them was about the affiliate link -wellafter my video was posted. I purchased the M1 myself during their Indiegogo campaign and still plan to buy a second one at some point. I’d also be happy to post a Litter Robot affiliate link, but they haven’t reached out, so the only option I had was to share a link to the Litter Robot on Amazon. I’m a small channel doing this for fun, alongside a busy full-time job. As you can see, my videos cover a wide range of topics. If someone wants to send me something to try, I’m open to it, but no one has so far. One startup company did reach out and offered to send me their product, but after reading their terms-which required me to use specific keywords and let them approve the video before posting-I told them, "No thanks." I prefer to buy the product myself and post my honest review without anyone dictating how I should do it. I always say what I want to say because it hurts too much to bite my tongue.
Hi, thanks for watching. Yeah, I think if the cat does step on it, the cycle should pause with the weight sensor being activated. That’s definitely something to watch out for! I know my cats, for some reason, will poke their heads in or step into the Litter-Robot while it’s cycling, but it does pause when they do.
@@OTFCRyup same as neakasa but when i first got it , i didnt turn on "non stoppable circle" resulting the bin to stop whenever my cat enter eventho its tilt to the bottom and my cat can kick the litter out but After 3weeks of using , they no longer try to play inside the box! i used to wake up with TONS of litter on the ground😂
Hi , thank you for the video! Another video pointed out some flaws with the M1 Nekasa and fixes. I purchased the M1 after your review and I'm adding these fixes mentioned in the other video. Essentially it's just the stickers, might need extra or a sealant for the rear part behind the screen and adding a thin door sweep along the edges of the trap door to prevent leaks and keeping it debris free. I loved your video and a few of these fixes I think will help this machine a lot. Keeping the trap door to contain smells. See the section in the video around the 12:00 minute mark. th-cam.com/video/NnxRTXZhGZo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6kUWvr6MTN301Hww
Thank you for the feedback and for watching the video! Yes, I actually experienced that issue after posting this video , so I took the machine apart to check it out and contacted Neakasa. I was really happy with their customer service-they sent me the stickers as well. Interestingly, I never ended up using them because the issue didn’t come up again. I think it was just one of my cats adjusting to the new box, and they’ve since figured it out. That said, I do plan on making a follow-up video on this topic (I filmed it all) . I’ve also reached out to Neakasa after hearing from others that they’re addressing these design issues. Thanks again for your support, and I hope the fixes work well for you! Now, can you poist my link on to his site too :)
Thanks for watching! Yes, the mess can be a real issue, especially when cats miss the litter a bit and the globe rotates, spreading it around. I’ve found that the M1’s design and cycling handle this much better for me and my four cats, so hopefully, it’ll be a great solution for you as well! Please update us in the comments on how the M1 works for you and your cats!
Thanks !! I’m glad you enjoyed the review. Very non-pro but I always try to keep it authentic and fun, so it’s awesome to hear that you appreciated it! That’s interesting you’re a session guitarist! I love music, so I’d be curious to hear some of your work! \m/. Thanks again for watching!
Yes! That happened to me with our first new LR4 (I have two). I showed it in the video-it happened within the first month or so. I never had that happen so quickly with the LR1-LR3 models. I think they must have changed the materials because now even my other LR4 is starting to show signs.
It isn't an issue with our cats. They see the vet regularly, are always healthy, and we feed them top-quality food. The problem seems to be with the Litter-Robot 4's rotating design. Any non-clumped, not-fully-dried waste can cause problems, and there are plenty of threads online where people have tried other methods, like spraying non-stick solutions over the lining. This has been an issue since the Litter-Robot 1, regardless of the cats, food, or litter used. With the Litter-Robot M1, I’ve had zero issues-same litter, same food.
@@OTFCRI’ve been using two for over two years. The only time mine get really messy is diarrhoa, bad litter or too short a delay on the cycling. I’ve done a huge amount of testing and numerous videos about self cleaning litter boxes. I also have 7 cats using them.
7 cats! Nice! Yeah, if the Litter-Robot works for someone, that’s great! I still consider it a quality box with excellent support. For whatever reason, these issues I have had (an dothers I know) with Liteer Robot since LR1 have not been a problem at all with the Neakasa M1 which just was more a set up and forget (well clean , add litter etc) . So naturally, that’s why the M1 is my pick , but everyone’s situation and every cat are different. What might be right for me might not be right for you, It takes different strokes, yes diff....... Yes, I started singing "Different Strokes" in my head as I was typing, so now it will be stuck in my head all day! :)
@@rizman6053 they stopped using their litter robot completely! I think it’s due to the neakasa having a much bigger/ more comfortable and open style of litter bed I thought the litter robot was a game changer but wow the m1 changed my LIFE LOL and anytime homie! Cats rule!
That’s great to hear! As I mentioned before, from my experience, no automatic litter box has been perfect, but the M1 comes the closest-which is impressive for a first-generation product! I keep taking notes and sharing my feedback with them (just like I’ve done with the Litter-Robot and other boxes I've used) to help make it even better in future updates!
I can, that may be good to do a video on. Also, I have another video of the M1 where I unbox, set up and show it cycle, but in this video, I just wanted to compare some of important points.
I have four cats, and two of them are on the larger side, which might explain why my LR4 tends to get messy-they often miss the smaller litter area. (then it rotates ) All my cats use the M1, and they really seem to appreciate the larger, open space. The M1 fits our larger cats much better than the LR4, with more litter area and the open design allowing them to move freely. Our litter boxes are in their own smaller room, so maybe that helps them feel more comfortable with an open-air type box. The M1's design works better for us, especially for the bigger cats and is the first auto cleaning litter box I would get over the Litter robot since the LR1! So that still means teh LR is a good option if it works for you!
@@OTFCR Yeah, I have a similar setup right now, their boxes are in closet space in several rooms that are secluded from the rest of the home. They just won't go without some kind of top cover.
Hi ! Good question. And it looks like the offical answer is No. I found this from Nekasa on he FAQs section The suitable filter for this cat litter box can filter cat litter particles with a maximum diameter of 3mm and a length of 10mm. It supports bentonite and mineral cat litter but does not support tofu cat litter and mixed litter containing tofu cat litter. It is recommended that you choose fast clumping, non- Long strips of cat litter with a granular appearance, such as bentonite type and mineral type cat litter.
I brought the M1 for 1 month now, my cat loves it so much, he doesn't have any transition period, and of course I like it even more, 100% hands free, I feel very lucky to have M1, hopefully it will last, The only thing bothering me is the right side ear of the robot cannot be fully closed, I saw the one in video has the same problem, don't know what to do with it.
Glad your cat loves the M1! Ours took to it right away as well. Not fully closed? Do you mean where the gears are, and you remove the pieces to take off the globe?
The over priced liter Tobot has gotten away with too much! Its about time we all realized what a waste of money and bad choice they really are with all the cons.
Agree, I’ve spent $$$ over the years and had the same issue from generation to generation. You would think by now they would offer an alternate design option for folks who have these issues, to give another choice and have more options out in the market.
The biggest issue with the M1, which makes the L4 superior, is when the cats pee. The L4 contains it due to it it having a more closed dome, but the M1 the cats pee just sprays out of it and onto the floor.
I’ve been using the M1 for 6 or 7 months with my four cats, and I’ve never experienced that issue at all. My cats exhibit the typical behavior of squatting when they urinate, directing the urine downward into the litter, which is what most litter boxes, including the M1 and LR, are designed to accommodate. While most cats will squat and pee into the litter, there are exceptions where some might stand or spray, particularly males or when marking territory. If a cat is standing and peeing against the back wall of any litter box, then yes, an enclosed option might help. However, that still seems problematic, as you’d have urine all over the litter box, which isn’t how they’re designed. Litter boxes are generally made to catch everything in the litter itself. In my experience, the M1 works perfectly fine, and I haven’t had any issues with urine spraying out.
What did end up buying? How’d it work out for you?
Great review! I did feel like watching David Spade and the Big Lebowski after this for some reason.
HA! That is funny, and I kind of wonder why, lol! Maybe because the litter boxes really tie the room together? But you can't ever go wrong watching The Big Lebowski again!
Wow this is the best review! It was so real ! Thank you so much!!!!!
Thank you, and thanks for watching it! Glad you liked it!
You helped me decide between these two! I appreciate the brutal honesty. Definitely going to be purchasing the M1 today for Prime Day!
That's awesome, hope you and yoru cats love it like we do!
Did you get it
Great review. I was ready to buy the litter robot but this has changed my mind. Thank you.
Thanks! Hope it works for you and your cats! They have a 30-day, no-questions-asked return period, so if it doesn’t work, you’re not stuck with it. Also, I have an additional 7% off code in the description. Comment back after your cats have used it for a bit to let me know how it’s working for you!
OMG what a honest review especially with Litter Robot who has years to resolve there issues🤦♀️
Thank you, and thanks for watching! Everyone’s experience will be different, but what I shared has definitely been mine, and others I personally know, with the Litter Robot. Happy to say those issues are no more with the M1! I do still have both the LR and M1 running until I get another M1 or two!
It's amzon prime day and I'm getting M1 after watching this. 200 bucks off today baby
200 off! Might be my time to pick up another one too
I did the same! I grabbed 2😊
How much litter you guys use a month? My cats already used 40lbs in a couple weeks
How much was is on prime day?
Grabbed mine for 5 dollars👀
Arm and hammer slid litter works great with Litter Robot 4. Also increase the cycle time so waste can harden
Thank you for showing the grossness! I was literally looking for a review including smears
Amazing review, thankyou
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the review!
Great Video, didn’t expect to be entertained when watching a litter box review 😁
Best review ever ! Thanks you for your hardwork sir. Chose my mind to m1
Thanks! Hope you and your cats like it.
Also, I have the Neakasa and I love it as well! Thank you for the review!
Thaks for watching! Nice ot knwo your M1 is working out well for you so far!
I have litter robot for more than a year now. Thinking add another one. You definitely helped me on which one to buy! Thank you so much!
Great comparison video!
Thanks!
after 4 years i have finally had enough of my LR3.
Thanks for this video. I has been looking to buy one, but I was not fully convinced about the neakasa. Your video helped me on my decision. Thanks!
Glad it helped! I also have dealt with their customer service after purchase and so far so good! Plan to do another update soon and will include that
This is probably the most honest litter robot review I’ve seen.
I’ve unfortunately got my cats used to wood pellet litter & the last time I tried to use clumping, my biggest cat peed outside the box 😅
Put the wood litter back and he’s fine lol!
I have never used this one but have heard good things about this clumping wood litter , they hav e3 types of clumping you can see in the link
amzn.to/3T3kcCF
The streaking and poor clumping may be due to the high humidity in Florida. Not a poor diet. I’ve heard humid can impact clumping and functionality.
Excellent review. What I was looking for.
Thank you, and thanks for watching! I'm glad the review was helpful.
Great review. Funny.
Thansk for watching! Check out some of the others ones :)
Excellent comparison. Thank you.
Thank you!, and thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the comparison from my experience perspective!
GREAT REVIEW INTELLIGENT!!
Thank you, and thanks for watching! Be sure to check out some of the other ones!
I ordered one on Amazon. Prime members get it for $399.00. Thanks for the video.
Nice! I hope you and your cats like it as much as I do. Comment back after you’ve had it a while to let us know how it’s working for you!
When I got the LR4, my first thought was, "Why does this one seem cheaper in terms of material and quality, yet cost more?
great video, thanks for all the details shared
Thanks!
Ive had my m1 for only 2 days now. I dont regret the decision. Has been great so far. My cats are taking to it
Great to hear that! I still need to purchase a second one soon
What do you have a bear using your litter robot? 😂. I’ve never seen mine anywhere like yours.
I often wonder that myself :)
Where or what time stamp did he mention the leaking part?
Very good and thorough review, thank you. Get you your point though. 🤦🏽♂️🤣
Thank you, and thanks for watching! LOL, this is me edited down! 😂 But hey, I added chapters, so you can skip straight to the point if you want. Glad you enjoyed the review!
We just got an Neakasa M1 after watching your review video and our cats love it too!
Great to hear you and the cats love it! Comment an update after a few months see how it is doing!
Thanks, need it so much right now
get it :)
I’m using naturally fresh walnut litter.
Fill to 80% or it dumps extra with the first cleaning and I set the cleaning cycle to 15min.
It works great!
Thank you So much for this review!!! When I bite the bullet and get one, it will be the M1.
Hi, I'm glad the review helped! If you do get the M1, comment back with how it works out for you and your cats. I think you'll be happy with your choice but if not they do have a good return policy!
Great review!
Thanks! Appreciate you checking it out and your comment!
Love the video, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching!
Thank you for this review. I cannot afford either one, but if that ever changes, the M1 will be my first choice.
Litter robot shoud do a inner side of the box like that!
You look like Keith Urban! :)
Ha! I've been told that before! I have a few pictures from many years ago where, side by side, the resemblance was very uncanny. Now, it's a little less every day. :)
Who knows , next video I may have Curly Hair, I saw some great tips !!
I use Boxie Pro amzn.to/3Ska7R4
Maybe give PrettyLitter a try. We used that for a long time, and I think it has very little dust or tracking because it is silica gel crystals. It even monitors the cat's health by the color once they use it. Just be sure to get the clumping version.
@@OTFCR and what about any dust in the surrounding area after weeks of use of the M1? That's our biggest concern
The Neakasa is so small though :/ I'm going to try the Meowant. The LR4 doesn't seem great to me either. Thanks for the review
Here is a link I found that shows both the spray and wipes but you can go to the Litter Robot offical page and purchase them indivdually
amzn.to/46Xj7lx
Great video. Non bias. I returned my LR4 because imo it was just horrible. Bought the M1, can't wait to try it
Hi, I am thinking to get Neakasa or litter robot 4. Which one is better based on your experience?
Do you think i can eliminate the three litter boxes and go down to this one?
A client of mine recommended a nekasa. I ordered it as its on sale right now. She did a ton or research and I have maincoon a large barn type cat and stealthy hause panther. I hope they like it! We clean 3 boxes every other day and if were off by a few hours 🙄 one will pee outside box (they arent that bad! Hes just a virgo)
So happy I ordered a m1! Dont have it yet but now watching in anticipation.
Any suggestions on transitioning from an analog litterbox to the digital 😂
Thanks beautiful cat man!
I have the M1. I love it.
Thanks for watching! It’s great to hear that it’s working for you and your cats. Please update us in the comments on how it’s doing in the longer term!
nice review . i will now sell my Litter robot 4 and i ordered the m1 neakasa thanks for such a good video now o know what to do 😊
Hi, thanks for watching!
Lmao I love your personality soooo much !!! 💛💛💛 I can tell your soul is just beautiful 💛
Quick question, for the M1 do the cats rake the litter out of the M1 when they try clean up after themselves?
Nice! Glad it is working for you. Woudl be curious how you like it after a few months !
How would you rate their customer service?
Can you please tell me how this could compare to the petsnowy? its a fully covered one but wasn't sure what youd recommend.
I have not tried petsnowy. Maybe I will pick oneup to see what is about!
@OTFCR I got the m1 neakasa and will be delivered but yea the petsnowy is on sale just like the m1 is too.
@@OTFCRthat's right.
Can't really deep clean in the winter snow freezing days.
(link at end)
In this video, both the M1 and the LR4 were cleaned about 9 days prior and then used for the same amount of time.

THANKS
@@OTFCR Fair enough. Question: since the M1 is an open air unit, is there any odor? One more thing, how deep is the litter bed? Thanks for your help.
It seems to me the litter robot requires more maintenance and cleaning than my stainless steel litterbox.Kind of defeats the purpose.
I haven’t had any problems .

How easy is it to get support and parts for the M1 when needed?
I did call support and spoke to someone right away and they were also great with follow up. That was just one experince so who knows long term.
@@OTFCRthank you!!! This code doesn't work thou... Maybe because it's on a sale $499?
Mine would be peeing on the grill part of the litter box. How would you clean that?
I Love my robot 4. I have 3 cats. I have never had a mess like he has.
Ya that’s what I’m saying.
I use Sio2 coating on my new cat box and it makes it so easy to clean
Never heard of that , will have to check it out! Thanks!
You have an affiliate link up for Neakasa, doesn't seem unbiased.
Bought one today and my only complain is if my cat step on it mid clean , they kick the litter out , other than that no problem! 😂

You sold me on the Neakasa M1! I have the LR3 and it does the same thing, cat litter sticking everywhere, etc. Yuck!
Thanks for watching! Yes, the mess can be a real issue, especially when cats miss the litter a bit and the globe rotates, spreading it around. I’ve found that the M1’s design and cycling handle this much better for me and my four cats, so hopefully, it’ll be a great solution for you as well! Please update us in the comments on how the M1 works for you and your cats!
nice review by an LA or nashville session guitarist
I had a LR4 my cats instantly destroyed the liner
Yes! That happened to me with our first new LR4 (I have two). I showed it in the video-it happened within the first month or so. I never had that happen so quickly with the LR1-LR3 models. I think they must have changed the materials because now even my other LR4 is starting to show signs.
neakasa on prime sale right now for 399
That is a really good price!
I don't know what's going on with the mess inside your LR4. That looks more like diarrhoea. There's no way it should be messy where it is.
Why not just make the liners for both the black ones and white ones black
Agree!
I like Neakasa but it looks high for my cat to use. Im afraid to buy and end up they dont use
It’s AMAZING they gravitated towards it immediately they completely stopped using their lr4 after two weeks I see no more activity on the app!
@@LeonardTroufield you mean they stopped usikh Neakasa after 2 weeks or stop using their old litterbox? Btw thanks for the info!
@@rizman6053 they stopped using their litter robot completely! I think it’s due to the neakasa having a much bigger/ more comfortable and open style of litter bed I thought the litter robot was a game changer but wow the m1 changed my LIFE LOL and anytime homie! Cats rule!
@@LeonardTroufield ah okay understood, thank you sooo much!
You totally forgot to show how they work. That would actually have been nice.
I can, that may be good to do a video on. Also, I have another video of the M1 where I unbox, set up and show it cycle, but in this video, I just wanted to compare some of important points.
You didn't mention how many cats you have. Also, t looks like the M1 would never fit my larger cat, and they wouldn't use an open litter box at all.
They just won't go without some kind of top cover.
can you use tofu litter with neakasa?
Hi ! Good question. And it looks like the offical answer is No. I found this from Nekasa on he FAQs section
The suitable filter for this cat litter box can filter cat litter particles with a maximum diameter of 3mm and a length of 10mm.
