  • I purposefully booked Brussels Airlines from London to Munich with a twenty-two-hour layover in Brussels to explore the city's Old Town. We landed in Brussels around 8:00 PM and took a taxi to our hotel, Aparthotel Adagio, located in the Old Town. The taxi ride cost around 56 Euros, and I was pleased to find that they accepted credit cards.
I booked the hotel via Trip.com, choosing it based on positive reviews. Upon arrival, which was close to 9:00 PM, the streets were bustling, possibly due to Easter Sunday. Mr. Jagman (spelling may be incorrect) facilitated a quick and easy check-in process, and another staff member, Lucy, provided a local map and recommendations for nearby attractions.
The room was clean and spacious, featuring amenities such as an ironing board, locker, microwave, and cooking range for simple meals. Although I stayed for a short time and didn't use the cooking facilities, they were appreciated.
The hotel lacked a restaurant but offered a breakfast area on the second floor next to the elevator, where a breakfast buffet was served. Although I hadn't initially booked breakfast, I paid 19 euros for it, as many restaurants were closed or opened late due to Easter Monday. Guests were required to prepare their own eggs and omelets and make waffles from batter provided.
Several restaurants were located near the hotel, including a Burger King opposite. After breakfast, we explored nearby attractions, including the Grand Place, which boasted stunning architecture and required no entrance fee. We then visited the Comic Art Museum, the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula and Illusion Museum. Unfortunately, the Musical Instrument Museum was closed on Monday.
Despite our short stay, we thoroughly enjoyed exploring Brussels and plan to return in the future to spend more time exploring the city. When we do, we'll certainly consider staying at Aparthotel Adagio again.
On the way back to the airport, the hotel arranged a taxi for us, and the fare was 46 euros.
