Thanks for watching. Turns out making the wrong purchase almost destroyed this mower.
This video is meant as entertainment, always practice safety.
All the videos you make help me so much thank you
Happy to hear that!
Thank you for the video
Thanks for watching!
Eric, your fix for the loose fitting blade was brilliant. That said, I’d never sell it like that because the first time someone removes the blade I doubt they’d see that shim fall out if the wanted to just sharpen the blade and use it again.
No big surprise the valve lash opened up that much! I can’t imagine not having a lock nut to keep it from opening up again. Yikes! Even machines with lock nuts loosen up over time, but usually on a thousandth or so, even though that’s probably due to wear of the tappets or valve stems.
you do make a point... but the likelihood someone would take the blade off is highly unlikely. Most just use it until it breaks
It's really best to use a proper adapter and blade. Damn the $$$$
I agree on all and with zip tie fix however, if I sold a mower with that, I would inform the buyer about the blade fix and maybe even give them a zip tie piece as a replacement.
You should do a sthil trimmer next time
If you find one
yes I agree
Hi, what could the cause of a mower thats hard to start when its hot be? (I know its hard to guess through YT...)
This is most likely caused by a bad ignition coil
for me, I'd be a combination of low compression and the valve lash could be off slightly. The ignition coil is a good possibility however I don't see it very often.
That's
Why I have so many questions LO.L. I'm a hundred percent self taught and I know how to do all the common stuff quite well, But I can get stuck when I run into something.I haven't seen before. I don't know anyone else. That shares my hobby so i'm kind of stuck when I run into a weird situation.
I know your pain then, I didn't have anyone to help me out either .
The margins are so small on these type of mowers that even small problems can make them not worth fixing if you have to put any money into Them. Anything more than a carb clean pretty much eliminates any profit. I hate to junk anything, But they're just not worth enough to fix if you have to put money into them.
yes I like working on these, but the return on investment is terrible
Is valve clearance the same for both intake and exhaust?
What about Briggs and Stratton?
not necessarily and it depends on the model and serial number not the engine. As for the Briggs part, you can look up that information on their website, you'll just need to know the information about the engine you have.
I would've applied JB Weld in there as a shim before using plastic.
that's an idea
Nice work on that blade. Something I would have done also I picked up a mower like that one it's branded hyper tough but I have a issue with the blade also I think why it was giving away also
yes it seems this little cheap mower have some proprietary parts
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE agreed
Looking up parts for mowers can be a little bit tricky when you are doing that
yes you are correct
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE the one thing that is strange is the one blade adapter that has the angled blade tips seems to be that the blade itself would have the holes the holes cut as to where it would fit on the blade adapter
Lowe's sells adapters for mowers so you can fit that blade to fit properly for a little money
thank you
Is everything disposable now? That mower was from 2020. I'm not sure when the price jumped from $159 to $179 now $279. That cheap mower isn't so cheap when you go buy a new one. I love the Murray my son found on the curb. It's light and it rips through grass.
I know what you're saying it's just unbelievable how the prices have jumped up in price.
Every spring people give up after a few pulls. They roll it to the curb, repeat the cycle and buy a new mower. @@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE
Great video👍🙏👍🙏
thank you!
Hey bro what's up? I had to give up on my project I was working on because I wasn't getting the necessary replacement parts for it.
that makes sense, sometimes parts are tough to get.
@@INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE yes especially if it is an older piece of equipment. Replacement parts are very difficult to get and if you manage to get them the cost will literally cost you an arm and a leg.
yea most people aint very smart.
it's amazing
NICE Overall!!!!
Thanks!
This cheap trash lives on thanks to your work. I sold a Bolens push mower in 2020 for $80 because nobody would pay $120. Now prices for equivalent new mowers are sky high, double for equipment listed then.
thanks, and yes it's amazing what the market value can do to used prices.
2 things that I would've done differently on that mower is :-
1. I would've found a way to make sure that blade doesn't spin under heavy load because it will
2, I would've used glue lined heatshrink tubing ( Raychem) to cover the cut because it's very deep & it appears to have cut into the Inner core of the cable !
both very good point!
Great work and adjustments universal parts aren’t always the best choice glad you knew what you where doing.😊
you got that right and thank you for your time!
Your video quality and editing are a level above.
Nice little econo mower. Yes I ran across one that had a 21” rather than 22” blade. Frustrating mowing experience.
ah yes I've seen that too and yep it is frustrating for sure!
Great idea on that blade adapter spacer, I’ll have to remember that one!
it's not a 100% fix but it works, and thanks!
Thank You for Sharing
My pleasure
A-PLUS! Blessings
Appreciate that
