Another great set of pictures, most never seen before. The Atwell Scania reminds of my early teens when these were always seen running through Waltham Abbey, long before the M25. In those days it was the 1 series in day and sleeper cabs and used to be in a yard on the old A11 in Thornwood between Epping and Harlow. Robsons and Swift Transport were always in the IDV plant at Harlow until closure in 1990.
The T45 Leyland Roadtrain was the first truck I attempted to draw as a kid because I liked its rugged good looks. Then I found it to be unimaginative compared to many others such as the DAF 3300, for example. So later on I customised my drawing several times until I finished up with a cross between yhe K100 aerodyne (COE) and an Oz roadtrain with all the accessories including bull bar etc. Nice collection of photos you have there.

Great pics again i bloody love these videos 🎉🎉 The british trucks were absolutely woeful compared to the euro motors in every way possible And yes i have driven them 😂 Even the 90s 2000s erfs were shite 😂

You do a fantastic job on this channel. I've no idea how you do it. This coming from a 68 year old Paddy who drove drove from the age of 15 in Ireland (illegal I know) but things were different then. I spent years doing UK and continental work low loader work and God knows what else. Was an owner driver for a while but that was one disaster after another. Been on crawler cranes now for decades and still at it but can't get the old trucks out of my head. You'll never know how much I appreciate your channel.

I started driving artics in 1972 almost 53 years ago , then it was a 1967 Atkinson with a 150 Gardner engine, almost identical to the 180 and no difference in power...Great bosses working truck doing about 9mpg but horrible for the driver, no power steering which is fine out on the road but when you try reversing into tight spots with tiny little mirrors you realise quickly these were not made for drivers...In the winter you would freeze to death because drafts were coming in everywhere and the heaters were poor, the summer you would roast on a hot day...I then moved onto a fairly new Atkinson with the 220 Cummins and 10 speed road ranger box , a massive upgrade because it had power steering better mirrors and better cab insulation because the cab sat a bit higher than the older ones..After one winter every time I went to start it cold on a frosty morning I had to remove the air filter get a coat hanger and dip a rag in the diesel tank with that lit I would shove it down the air intake and turn the engine over , usually started after about 30 seconds... Thankfully I got a job in 1974 driving a brand new Scania 140 V8 driving on the continent , a brand new world free of underpowered noisy British trucks and comfort at it's finest...I do know the difference between reality and nostalgia...
