Thank You for your videos. I learn soooo much. I have been working on decluttering 1,000 items. For the month of August, I made it to 355 items donated/give away! As far as beets... I never used to like them, but now I dice them small and put on my salads raw. I like them much better just raw. And for grits... My mom used to eat them with M&m's. LoL! Have a great day! My youngest turns 25 next month. I turned 46 this year. My daughter is 26. Not that they are older, it is very hard to celebrate the birthdays without them some years. Good luck.
The reason the Romaine lettuce heads are smaller is, it's been hotter this year than usual, and lettuce is a crop that tends to bolt if it's too hot out. Farmers are picking the lettuce earlie before it bolts (flowers & goes to seed) rendering it useless.
You should freeze blueberries unwashed. Straight from a blueberry farm owner. You can give a quick rinse before using …even frozen…but they have a natural coating and will freeze better and not stick if you don’t wash first. That’s how we do it when we pick in the summer and they were right. Better results.
Combine peaches and blueberries in an easy cobbler. DELICIOUS! Melt 1 stick butter in deep baking dish. Add sliced peaches and blueberries. Add sugar to taste (1/2 cup-1 cup). Add some water. In a separate bowl add 1 cup self-rising flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup milk. Mix together. Add to cobbler. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. I promise, your family will love it!
Every year i purchase a package of "Mesclun Mix Lettuce Seeds". It takes just a few weeks to sprout. Maybe 2 months later, i am sharing salad with lots of people. Just breaking off a few leaves each day i have salad the entire summer and into fall. All for the cost if about 2 dollars.
I have frozen cubes of watermelon as a way to stretch a smoothie! Used to do it before I had kids and we struggled to finish a whole one in time. That hasn't been a problem in years. My kids will devour watermelon like there is no tomorrow!
My hubby and I are empty nesters, most of the fruit and veggies we buy are fresh , which we freeze or already frozen. No more feeling guilty about wasting food, I make my weekly meal plan and set things out to thaw or use immediately. I have saved so much money this way… No matter how cheap fresh stuff is, if you don’t use it and it gets thrown away you aren’t saving money ✅ 23:11
We do the same. It’s hard to find fresh veggies and fruits sometimes (I live in the middle of nowhere Montana) so I freeze up or can what I can for the winter. I save a ton of $ buying fresh stuff when it’s in season

If your bagel is hard, wrap it in a wet paper towel and microwave it for a few minutes until soft and flexible again. Works for other bread products too.
When blueberries are in season, I rinse, air dry or gently pat dry and put them on a parchment lined sheet pan and flash freeze. Then put in freezer ziploc bags. They freeze great ( separately not in clumps)
I used to be so spoiled living in the suburbs outside Seattle and didn't even consciously realize it. In 2019, I calculated that my at the time family of 5, was eating for $11 per person per week. Kroger, Walmart, local co-ops, CSA boxes, local farm pickups, Asian supermarkets (both Hmart and Uwajimaya) with their affordable produce, pantry staple selections, and extensive seafood selection. With pantry staples, we were hovering right at $11-12 per week. The kids were small and considerably less picky at that time. Now I'm in rural Idaho, we're a family of 6, and the grocery stores I have access to are local mom and pop stores that just don't offer the same kind of sales, because they have to truck everything in, and their volume is obviously nothing compared to a Walmart Supercenter sized business. My nearest Walmart and Costco are 2 hours away in Washington State. It's almost worth the trip and gas mileage more often, if I actually plan my shopping based on seasonal selections and ads beforehand. Sure a trip to Costco is a big single time spend, but I'm set on rice or flour or sugar for the whole year with one trip.
Most of my peeps get hung up on preshredded cheese having both cellulose and a starch to keep from clumping. While the block is milk enzymes salt. And the blocks once frozen then thawed crumbles well.

$1.50 for 4 bagels is actually about what I can get at my local WinCo. I pay under $2 for 4, and they have a WIDE variety of flavors available. I love it. I think it’s like $0.40 per bagel or something. I need to look again because I know prices have been changing recently.

Texas woman here we call the round peaches Saturn Peaches. Love to eat the flavored yogurt frozen. Can you say yogurt ice cream. Delicious. Always and inspiration. Thanks Christine. Happy Birthday Haley.
You can also see if you can volunteer at the CSA farm in exchange for the weekly shares. I did that, 4 hours per week. It was fun and forced me to either learn to cook with stuff I normally wouldn’t or share it.
I'd like to see a video with the meals made in August. Good hauls. We lost our freezer in a flood and haven't replaced it. Now prices are much higher for appliances.
It may be worth it to wait for Black Friday sales on appliances. I paid $50 for a working 1970's fridge this summer, it was in someone's barn locally, so Marketplace and Craigslist may be worth checking out. Finally got it home, cleaned out mold for a couple days, and sanitized it thoroughly, and now it's running and providing me with overflow refrigeration and a place for the stray "man food" in the freezer, out of the way of my next big freezer cleanup.
You can freeze the yoghurt too for a frozen yoghurt dessert. You just need to lift it out of the freezer for a few minutes before eating so you can get through it with the spoon!
We are doing a no spend September. For my family of 6 I did my big (hopefully) monthly shop for the big pantry freezer clean out about to go down, and it was $300ish. It would be so great if we can make it stretch all month! I scored all the deals. I reversed meal plan and it's looking extremely promising! Thanks so much for everything you've taught me over the years lol. Hope you are able to post a cleanout challenge video out of your group. Those are my favorite. And Happy birthday Hailey! 🎉
The only items at my local grocery stores that go on discount are produce, meat, and fresh bakery items. Otherwise, anything shelf stable (usually your typical pantry items) don't get reduced. I have to hop around other retail stores (those that also carry some food items) for the reduced items.
I'm not that into cooking but I started making my own packets simply bc of the crappy ingredients. I have a very sensitive stomach. Also I can make it organic. Win win!

Happy Birthday Hailey!!! Miss your laughter!!
I would have bought all those chobani flips too! $1.50, what a great deal!
Ayyy, Spicy Red Pepper Classico is where it's at! Arrabbiata sauce is the only jarred sauce we'll buy in a pinch, otherwise it's homemade.
Grits with salt and lots of butter and pepper.
I'm with Mom. Salt and butter or gravy and shrimp. My husband eats grits with grape jelly.
It just kills me. But he does love Shrimp and Grits. Yummy. Texas woman here we call the round peaches Saturn Peaches. Love to eat the flavored yogurt frozen. Can you say yogurt ice cream. Delicious. Always and inspiration. Thanks Christine. Happy Birthday Haley.
Amen on the blueberries! 😂 Love me some blueberry crisp!
Happy Birthday Hayley! 🎂🎁🎈Hope you have a great one! 🎉🎉🎉
You can also see if you can volunteer at the CSA farm in exchange for the weekly shares. I did that, 4 hours per week. It was fun and forced me to either learn to cook with stuff I normally wouldn’t or share it.
AWE. Happy Birthday Haley!! We miss seeing ya.
"Everything Bagel" sourdough bread, you'll love it if you can find it (or make it) ..😊
Peaches and blueberries are my favorite fresh fruits! Fruit cups and cottage cheese makes great lunches.
good culture is worth every penny!
I’ve missed these videos!
Grits with salt & pepper and cheese! Yum! I got my free ticket the first time you mentioned it, I'm looking forward to getting organized!
The grits joke gave me a chuckle 😂😂😂 I'm #teamsweet and my husband is #teamsalt. Love your videos. HBD Hailey!!!🎉🎉🎂🍰
You can freeze the yoghurt too for a frozen yoghurt dessert. You just need to lift it out of the freezer for a few minutes before eating so you can get through it with the spoon!
Happy birthday Hailey!! Can’t wait until she can join in on videos again!
I bought honeycrisp apples the other week for $.99/lb too!!! It was amazing and of course I had to make pie! Love your channel!
Happy 20th birthday Hayley xx
Wonderful haul..looking at all your watermelon 🍉 reminded me to go make watermelon salsa! 🌻 Happy birthday 🎂
Grits + salt + cheese = yummy breakfast! No sugar. Also, Happy Birthday to your daughter.
I bought the all access pass and saw your session. Such good ideas.😊
Re spices, I’m a huge fan of the packets, BUT. It is probably cheaper to blend your own especially if you have access to the winco and can do bulk.
I'm not that into cooking but I started making my own packets simply bc of the crappy ingredients. I have a very sensitive stomach. Also I can make it organic. Win win!
