Yes, BUT They did fail, in not giving the coroner pertinent information about the various facts that he needed to help him make a good and even well-rounded decision on her death. Although the coroner was also lax in gaining information from family members and friends, smh! He didn't ask anyone about her state of mind leading up to her death!!! The BIGGEST clue in deciding if she were suicidal or not came from her plans to obtain that house to start a pet grooming and boarding business!! You don't make plans that huge if you're so depressed, stressed, worried, and/or distraught that you would take your own life!!! That kind of thing has been studied and it was determined to be that it is very rare, nearly nonexistent for suicide to be the decision made especially when there were that much forward-thinking and plans for the future!!!
the coroner saying "i didnt know these things, but htey didnt tell me" instead of "i should have asked these things"..... how can so many people in this world just suck at their jobs and take no responsibility but i am still here worrying about my job???
It's not the coroner's job to ask this he's supposed to just look at the autopsy evidence and he should have noted that she's right handed and the position of the gun. The gun information he should have had.
I know coroners are different from medical examiners, but some medical examiners don't want extra information when they do an autopsy because they think it makes them biased. They just want to look at the body and base it on that.
I just had to suck it up and apologize for a goof up that actually could have been 3 other people had I stayed quiet. But most of us aren't that way. We ask. And if I don't know something I will ask. A medical examiner, a coroner should take their job seriously. They should dig deep and be damned sure
Ya but there’s usually a good reason why they’re set in the first place. It was confirmed that she set it cause she had to get up for work the next day. So it wasn’t a case of it being set automatically, she needed to be up at that time.
You can set up alarms to go off every weekday. They should've discussed whether it was a one time alarm set up or if it automatically went off every weekday.
Women don't usually shoot themselves - especially with a massive gun like that. She would also not have done it wearing inly underwear. His attorney is delusional. Of course he wouldn't shoot her again if he wanted people to think she shot herself.
They're paid to find every angle that proves their client is innocent and to take what their client tells them happened as factual. They have to talk themselves into it, otherwise, they wouldn't be able to defend people in criminal cases. It's a cope, for sure.
There are so many cases that I watch and, as soon as they say how the woman supposedly killed herself, I know she didn't do it. Even when killing women and trying to make it look self inflicted men just do not know women

Setting an alarm should be a moot point. I set alarms on my phone weekly. If after the event I forgot to delete the alarm, it will go off the same time, same day of the week the following week.
There's one glaring error in the investigation and the autopsy. This could have been resolved from the beginning if they would have checked his hands and her hands for gunshot residue GSR. There's always the chance that he could have worn gloves, but I sincerely doubt that she was lying down on the bed IF she shot herself. Women almost never use a gun to commit suicide. That's something that mostly men do. I think she might have been sleeping when he probably shot her. 😔
HE SAID HE PICKED THE GUN UP OFF HER CHEST SO THAT WOULD COVER FOR ANY GSR ON HIM. SHE SHOULD HAVE HAD HER HANDS BAGGED BEFOR MOVING HER IF THEY DIDN'T CHECK FOR GSR AT THE SCENE. THOSE COPS AT THAT TOWN MUST NOT WATCH TRUE CRIME SHOWS.
@vickiebailey5261 no, that's not how GSR works. It is a very fine mist that can leave tiny burns in the skin. If he picked up the gun it would be in his palms and on his fingers as opposed to the back of his hand or on his clothing.
The cell phone alarm going off isn’t suspicious at all. I have my cell phone alarm pre set to go off every Monday-Friday at 4:30 am to get ready for my long day. If I were to commit suicide I wouldn’t think of cancelling my Monday- Friday alarm.
34:13 One large piece of evidence against him is that picture they have of the gun on his side of the bed. Even the one without it says 1000 words. You don't keep ammo away, laying on the opposite side of your bed.
My nephew committed suicide in front of his girlfriend. The day of the suicide they actually went to the beach, out to dinner and a movie date. That night he killed himself while she was sleep he called his mom and told her he wanted to come to the her house the following weekend to finish her patio he started to build. They both had insurance on one another “unmarried” and he also planned to take her to the state fair the next day. Our family kept on saying she did it or had something to do with it. She was investigated, received the policy money and continued her life. His mom kept calling the police insisting she did it. 2 months after his death she was in a relationship and pregnant. She speaks so nasty about his mom and family on IG, Twitter , snap, etc!!! Yes we think she did it or assisted but police say different. Maybe she’s being investigated and one day will end up in jail OR MAYBE she is innocent and he just ended his life. So you can’t say a person didn’t commit suicide because they had their day or life planned. If you notice the ppl that do commit suicide don’t show the sign of doing it before they do. So many ppl pretend to be happy but are really dying inside. Maybe he didn’t do it and SHE did end her own life.
Very true, BUT look at it like this it's the same as selling/giving things, having "last dinners ect.", giving false plans to ease minds and not suspect. if they knew or had a hint they could intervene or he still couldve done it but felt awful before he did due to them knowing. Both sides of the police and your story are valid. Some plan their suicides like your nephew and others just "do it" right then right there.
Ugh this defense attorney total hypocrite and a bad lawyer at that. “He’s a devoted Christian he wouldn’t do it.” Ma’am he cheated he is not devoted and he IS a murderer.
People experiencing REAL trauma WILL NOT be 'crying' all the time. Grief comes later. Shock and disbelief would be the main emotions with some tears. These evil people think they're smart. They're NOT. Clearly the husband thought by firing from under the chin he thought he could create reasonable doubt, but he clearly shot her while she was sleeping. What a monster!
Kinda silly to ask a defense attorney their opinion. Of course they're gonna say they think their defendant is innocent. By law they would be committing a crime to say anything else. They'd be disbarred.
The guy was pretty dumb. I do take umbrage with the detective who said women don’t typically take their lives with a firearm though because even in death they’re worried about their “looks”. 🙄 No dumba&$, it’s because women are not typically drawn to the violence of a gunshot.
Sad to say that these same detectives couldn't have been on Mica Miller aka Francis case!!! However I'm so glad she got justice!! This happens way too much!!!
As a rule women don’t shoot themselves-there are much less painful ways. We’re not into pain-or mess. Not that it never happens, but I’m not buying it. Like her aunt and uncle said it’s just not her nature to run from her problems.
I hope not a lot of suicidal people don't hear that comment which sounds really snide that she wouldn't committed suicide because "she's not a runner." I hope most people realize that suicide is not about running from problems it is from pain and depression. It is from desperation. Not because someone really wants to put a gun to their head like that and call it easier. I really hope after all these years that people are a bit smarter.
Right? I wanna stick around but some days my pain and situation just really gets to me, not because I want to run away from my problems but because it feels very dark and impossible.
For the defense attorney to say that Kristens last straw could have been because of finding out that he was texting another woman is a complete insult to Kristen.
i thought it was disgusting that she brought up her childhood and how anyone would basically feel depressed when their family abandons them knowing damn well her client killed her is wicked. she was strong to go through it and still be happy and living life
My alarms are set a week in advance. The big thing that got was the life insurance. He straight out lied about it upfront. That alone made me think he’s guilty. Also the police need to keep the corner informed completely. You can’t whine about something being a problem that could have easily been avoided if there had been open communication. Also why no testing of gunshot residue on his hands or hers?
It's always some nerd who's just in the national guard reserves or who got kicked out during basic training who's stealing valor and claiming hes a secret agent or a Navy seal or whatever
I'm amazed at how police and others always talk about how someone didn't plan their suicide. Allot of times they don't, I would imagine allot are spur of the moment decisions. And insurance payout can't always be the motive. In that case, most responsible married couples must be planning something....
He’s in the military, he should know CPR. Why wasn’t he trying to save his wife? I can’t help but notice Kristen has a cavity in her front tooth. She should have dental insurance through the military. She does have braces on her teeth in one of the photos so she’s aware of the dental insurance. Little things are adding up. In my opinion, her husband is guilty.
I believe he killed her in her sleep smh horrible person that's for sure, he was talking about video games while she was dying that enough to know he's heartless I don't get how coroner can say who killed her , he had no reason to think she did or didn't do it, should've been undetermined if ya ask me
He certainly didn't deserve such a lovely wife, very sad . He's a killer and a big baby she was probably tired of looking after ! A fantasist and psychopath. Poor girl 😢
It never fails to amaze me, the stupidity of these perpetrators. Lies get found out. Phone/data searches, and CCTV footage can be traced. Do these people truly believe they will not be found out?
Colby won't need his life-size sex doll in prison. Nor will he be able to have an electric blanket. He got & will get what he deserves. God Bless Kristen, and her family. Kristen, rest in peace, heaven has another awesome, beautiful Angel 🙏 😇 🎉
I’m a proper wife and so was she, would never have done that with only an undergarment on. Because we know that a lot of people mostly men would be around you. Just like using that big weapon. No way.?
The evidence at the crime scene always speaks loud if not tampered with! Dude the husband is guilty. If he was a so called Christian, GOD is not pleased with his actions!!!!!!
No doubt, he googled her life insurance amount, the week of then denied knowledge of any policy, then forgot he googled it after it was proven she couldn't of. GUILTY
I think the guitly verdict was correct but the police do not appear to understand that most suicides are NOT rational decisions, so to expect people to behave rationally before doing it {e.g. organising care for the dogs, etc} is foolish.
Feel for the Coroner, he was in the blind really. To his view & lack of communication is all he could put down! Think Kristin got justice, Kolby will not be eligible for parole until over 70 yrs old. Just horrific that Kristin was so full of life, her plans, love of animals & her family that he would just take away, Kolby could never have truly loved Kristin to think losing control & $123k is worth taking her life. He, of course, is no Christian. I pray the family have found peace, keep their faith. Kristin was truly loved by many. 🙏❤️✝️

Colby is a piece of work. I wouldn't be surprised if the sex doll ends up taking her own life.
😂
Bahahahaha
😂😂
Putting the gun off and on his wife after her death.Says it all.
Here we go again an Oscar winning husband.. crying without tears.
Colby, your acting is horrific. You fooled everyone for zero seconds.
Pretty bad performance there Colby. Needs more lessons
Colby would not agree..he was making motivational videos, the creep..
Both the guitar and his fake sobbing.
I'm glad he's a bad actor. Made it more sure that he was going to get caught.
So many coroners are not qualified for that position.
Most are elected and they're not medical doctors.
THERE CAN BE A BIG A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CORONER AND A MEDICAL EXAMINER IN TERMS OF EDUCATION .
"Across the U.S., coroners are usually elected laypersons who may or may not have medical training, depending on local statutes."
the fake crying these people do is so irritating. Never seems ro be any tears, it's just constant boo-hooing.
👍
“ we have electric blankets we use for that”
So true so true 😂😂😂 a Secks doll 😂😂😂
I'm surprised nobody seems to know you set an alarm to go on daily, automatically!! You don't need to set it every night!
Kinda silly to ask a defense attorney their opinion. Of course they're gonna say they think their defendant is innocent.
By law they would be committing a crime to say anything else. They'd be disbarred.
Agree, but it was tough listening to her trying to defend this POS.
@@kenmarelove9176 I was thinking the same, it was hard.
I'll be fast forwarding through that part. I don't need to get worked up before bed 😂 @@kenmarelove9176
I agree. I hope she reads your comment and changes her vocabulary.
Right? I wanna stick around but some days my pain and situation just really gets to me, not because I want to run away from my problems but because it feels very dark and impossible.
For the defense attorney to say that Kristens last straw could have been because of finding out that he was texting another woman is a complete insult to Kristen.
i thought it was disgusting that she brought up her childhood and how anyone would basically feel depressed when their family abandons them knowing damn well her client killed her is wicked. she was strong to go through it and still be happy and living life
That coroner is an absolute loser. He needs to be retire or be forced out. Shameful incompetence.
"Across the U.S., coroners are usually elected laypersons who may or may not have medical training, depending on local statutes."
Who cares what the defense atty. thinks? She is getting paid to espouse these “opinions”!
He probably did it, but I don't think people understand what "reasonable doubt" means. "Autopsy of the mind" is a crock.
When you see hoofs, think horses not zebras
Dude there was so many red flags my God.
I'm amazed at how police and others always talk about how someone didn't plan their suicide. Allot of times they don't, I would imagine allot are spur of the moment decisions. And insurance payout can't always be the motive. In that case, most responsible married couples must be planning something....
Nobody would want to think that their relative would commit suicide. But it happens. Even Christians, my stepson was one of them.
I believe he killed her in her sleep smh horrible person that's for sure, he was talking about video games while she was dying that enough to know he's heartless
I don't get how coroner can say who killed her , he had no reason to think she did or didn't do it, should've been undetermined if ya ask me
This defense attorney is outrageous. No
common sense. No ability to deduce reality.
Judicial charlatans
1:55 - The guy looks between Jack Black and a chubby Leonardo Di Caprio
Indeed 😆
I don't see ANYTHING remotely appealing about his looks. ZERO!
He certainly didn't deserve such a lovely wife, very sad . He's a killer and a big baby she was probably tired of looking after ! A fantasist and psychopath. Poor girl 😢
@@wendyhart134 ABSOLUTELY!
😂😂😂
I love these stories beginning with 'My wife killed herself' 🤦🏾♀️
You can tell he’s guilty within the first two seconds of the 911 call.
Right! 🥺
It never fails to amaze me, the stupidity of these perpetrators. Lies get found out. Phone/data searches, and CCTV footage can be traced. Do these people truly believe they will not be found out?
His attorney has zero credibility. There is just no way she is that gullible.
I have a question. Why do people want a relationship so bad. They get one. But suddenly not want it? It's too hard?? You got one too easy?
Colby won't need his life-size sex doll in prison. Nor will he be able to have an electric blanket. He got & will get what he deserves. God Bless Kristen, and her family. Kristen, rest in peace, heaven has another awesome, beautiful Angel
🙏 😇 🎉
It's a freaking large caliber revolver. Who has the residue on their hand from firing it... plain and simple...
Those pajama bottoms are a crime.
LMAO !!
The husband acting deserves an Academy and Oscar award for best Murderer of the year!
I’m a proper wife and so was she, would never have done that with only an undergarment on. Because we know that a lot of people mostly men would be around you. Just like using that big weapon. No way.?
I think the most DamningItem was looking up the insurance to see how much he was gonna get. He also already went through all the money.
He most definitely murdered his wife.
His wife is dying and he's asking the police officers what video games they like to play?
If that isn't suspicious, I don't know what is.
Reminded me of Chris Watts talking about how much he liked his favorite Tshirt he was wearing
I thought the police asked him. He had told them he and Kristen were playing video games earlier that evening.
The evidence at the crime scene always speaks loud if not tampered with! Dude the husband is guilty. If he was a so called Christian, GOD is not pleased with his actions!!!!!!
Kristen’s is in heaven no more pain no more tears but prayers for the family gone too soon but God only knows
I wish they had done a psych evaluation on the husband
Amazing channel ❤ thank you 😀
No doubt, he googled her life insurance amount, the week of then denied knowledge of any policy, then forgot he googled it after it was proven she couldn't of.
I just love all 48 hours journalists
