Gaelic show about Cape from 70's

this is a very old show called Se' Ceap Breatainn Tir Mo Graidh which was prodiced by scottish television about Gaelic in Cape Breton. It is the only footage I've ever seen of Joe Neil MacNeil and other old timers. This segment features Maxie MacNeil and his daughters as well as a Gaelic mass in Glendale. Its a rough copy.

The Broad Cove concert, mentioned at the end, is celebrating its 57th anniversary this year. I THOUGHT I recognized those buildings, which haven't changed much. Google broad cove concert since TH-cam won't allow links.
And if you can't make it on July 28th, there's always the Celtic Colours explosion of music and culture (this year, Oct. 11 - 20.

Same type of thing happened across over to Newfoundland (Codroy Valley) in the West was Gaelic speaking villages.

What is the meaning of the song that accompanies the to and fro motion on the table?
Was this the way that fishing nets were worked to clean/ soften them up back in the days of the brave fishermen?
