Mate I really love the tree tug of war 😍. I no the car would make great content for the channel. But I think it's time to spare it out mate.. prove me wrong 😂😂😂
As a panel beater of many years I would say that you did a great job pulling out the frame rail but should now cut it off and replace it as the pulled one will be severely weaker than original, they are pulled out to make it easier to replace not to be reused.
It’s surprising what cars you can save yourself when they seem wrecked. I thought my partner’s Corolla was toast after it collided with a heavy deer. I don’t have a welder so I drilled out all the spot welds on the rad support etc and got the parts from a junkyard car and bolted them on instead, got it set up as straight as I could by eye then tweaked it when I put the used panels on (got lucky with same colour ones) and it turned out great. At first look you’d have definitely thought ‘totalled for sure’ as I did. Keep at it - good luck. 👍🏻
cracking job,,, good work with that tree suppose it went in where you were pulling so makes sense its gunna come back that way too,, hope you manage to get parts needed without breaking the bank
After seeing the rust and the front damage i lost hope but you came through ok once its not a financial delima and you can keep cost down you will come out with a sweet car that tree came in handy
Ignore the negative comments -pulling on a ramp is essentially the same process, just dosen't use mother nature. I see the lights have been switched over :)
Wow, thats a real revival. Major improvement! If that repair is acceptable by MOT standards i would say it's plenty safe enough. If the MOT regulations allowed unsafe things the whole inspection bit would be a bit pointless?
Enjoying your channel but suggest you either put this out for spares or replace the crash structures with new - can’t really put a car back on the road with compromised chassis legs and crash bar - might look ok but it’s weak and could cost someone their life
Yes - I guess the point you’re making is that you believe the repair is structurally sound. It isn’t - once steel is taken past its yield point then its strength is reduced, reforming the chassis leg so that it looks similar to what it was does not mean that it will collapse safely next time as it’s already fatigued. Fine to use the tree to put the structures back in position but then the chassis legs should be cut back to the next factory joint and new sections welded in.
@@bren70ssss94 Nope, he said he thought about replacing it, why do you think he painted it white if he is going to replace it? thought you may have noticed that?
The more I see, the more I think, head over heart, part it out. Even if you can get it sorted and looking really great, how much could you sell it for?
I do agree it might not be quite as strong, I doubt it's hugely weakened but I might plate over where the worst was to strengthen it, it shouldn't really have been saved but I like to save cars on the channel so they can have another small lease of life haha 😂

I will don't you worry 🤞

I was thinking of plating over where it was once bent with thicker metal would this not be stronger? Thanks
@@cashmachinecars it's not really about stronger as it is a crumple zone and designed to collapse and absorb impact.
It’s great to see it saved, I tried that method with a strong gate post one and it did the trick, happy days 👍
Considering the oak is Imperial Whitworth and the car Japanese metric, you did surprisingly well...
Impressive stuff mate, you're a braver man than I taking that on.
Kudos going your way!!
Great video 👍
Amazed how well that tree hack worked! 😮 definitely worth saving imo, absolutely love SW20s - such cool motors! Best of luck with the rest of it 👍

Thank you I think it's always good to try and keep these old cars on the road if possible!
I love your enthusiasm……I would have parted it out when I saw that big crusty rusty underneath.

Thank you yes probably could have gone harder on the tree but think it turned out ok in the end, will be back on the road in no time! 🤞
great tree work ......looks like it might be saved
I hope I'll be able to save it!! Thank you 🙏
Well done kid, great work👍👍👍
Thank you rory
It`s not as bad as it first appeared.
You will smash this out. Trees are two a penny. Mr2s however.
Well done , after that civic you did , this will be easy 😊 , dont forget to do a van update when you have time it brought at lot of us to the channel😊
Haha thank you that civic was a mess!! Yes there will be a van update soon!! 👍

You're a Wizard Harry! 😊
Great effort. Nicely done
Thank you! Cheers!

Great tree action!
Can't wait for new T5 Parts :)
M2 go for a pretty penny Over here in the States I'm sure you'll make money or keep it they're olny going up in price. 🍻 cheers!!

Super handy lift. How old is that thing?
It's been here forever! It looks ancient! Leaks like a sieve!! 🤦
Harry we need to talk 😂

@@llessibm nope , i know its not sound but he did say hes going to replace it , i thought you might have commented before you saw that :)
I heard him say that he would be replacing the crash bar, not the chassis legs - if I’m wrong then my apologies

You are right but I hate seeing cars be scrapped tho and if someone can get some use out of it after I've finished with it then I'll be happy 😊
Christ does that lift lock 🤦🏻
Haha yes thank god, I wouldn't go under it if it didn't lock and it leaks like a sieve
I don't think the bent parts will be as strong as they once were if the car was in another accident, I think it should be scrapped, sorry.
