You're definitely getting there - I'm impressed by how many of your goals you've achieved or are close to achieving - my goals are probably a bit strange as I only had one - to get back into sewing and I'm definitely achieving that. The real bonus for me is how much I'm learning - from you and other vloggers and the pleasure I'm getting from learning new stuff. So thank you ❤
Thank you Avril! It definitely sounds like you’re crushing your goal! I might not make any goals next year, and just see where sewing takes me. We’ll see. It’s been fun to have these goals but even more things have worked their way into my sewing over the past 6 months and it’s fun to just see what I feel like doing.

It’s not too late! I just made a note in my phone and have looked back at that. I definitely wouldn’t be as good about reflecting on them if I wasn’t filming updates though

You have been cranking out the projects and it doesn’t seem like you are *adding* to your WIPs at least 🙂 I’d call that a win!
I will make some more pillowcases soon myself. We are going out of town in a few days for almost a week and I think those will be my first projects to start up with when I get back. I definitely see how not having a Joann to easily get fabric for them would be a hinderance.
Have fun trying your hand at shirring! I’ve never tried it but it looks so neat.

The pillowcases are a great cleansing project! I need to make a template like you suggested and just cut a bunch out.
People *say* shirring is easier than it looks, so I’m choosing to believe them 😂

You’ve done well in the first half of the year! I think we need to be ok with dropping goals we make at the start of the year if they no longer serve us come July. I had a look at my Make 9 list recently and I think a couple of the items on that list are just not going to happen and that’s ok.
You’re definitely right about being okay with dropping goals. This is a hobby after all. That rail fence ripple quilt just isn’t going to happen and that’s totally fine. My mom regularly finds WIPs of hers from decades ago. The best part is that a lot of the time she says, “I don’t know what I was thinking- this is awful,” so it’s pretty clear why she set it aside in the first place 😂
It is ok to abandon projects. I am going to start soon on my Project Dress a Girl dresses. While Mari was here we pulled some fabric from my stash and put it in a bin for the dresses.
Yeah that rail fence ripple is going to be in the back of a drawer for a while. Maybe a long long while…😂

I have a project dress a girl pattern that has shirring at the neckline and sleeves - not sure if I’ll try that one this year or not

I have that one too! It’s too big for my daughter so it’s filed away and I hadn’t even thought of it
