Hi, mate, thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoy the content! I personally do not at all see this as being clickbait - instead, I call it truthbait. I make my titles and thumbnail as exciting as possible while still not lying about what's there. Clickbait is being promised something that's just NOT there, like a cure for hairloss or inflated manhood. I can't help anyone with that stuff, but I CAN offer you some awesome footage, interesting topics and a positive attitude, and in this case, some possible shocking opinions on which Total War games look best despite their age :) And I hope that's enough sometimes! Cheers!

@@AndysTake my recommendation would be to put the game covered in the title after the hook title. Kind of like “Best Campaign Change Ever | Attila Mod”. I personally like more clarity in titles, but I also understand the need to draw people and being somewhat vague helps draw clicks/views.

Attila was the first time I really struggled to distiguish between units and environment. Both kind of the same color... brownish - greenish, on the map as well as during battle. That never really went away and, although I like the newer titles, I wish they went back to the more "clear cut" graphics.

  • @doinwork3474
    @doinwork3474 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Its funny because I agree with most of what you said, but for me, TWTK feels like it is one of the worst in terms of visuals. It feels dark and blurry(?) Im not sure. It might also have alot to do with the lack of realistic matched combat since it looks more like WH- i.e. kind of cartoonish and for me, that really kills any "real" looking graphics.
The second thing I have a different opinion on is S2. I personally never had any lighting issues that I can remember. The colors, were very vivid and bright, but mixed with detailed textures, the ambiance of cherry blossom leaves floating through the air it was a cohesive scene. Also, the matched combat in the game was really, really awesome. The charges felt real and smooth as they crashed into each other. Even with the absurd blood effects, and the horos on the generals, everything else felt very satisfying to play.
Nice video thought. I think more like this, comparing different design concepts throughout the series is interesting.

In my opinion Rome 2 now is very optimized and I think is the best Total War ever made followed by Attila. Attila was left behind with optimization. It has many wonderful uncompleted features that Rome 2 doesn’t, has more depth in details, politics and the AI is a lot better but in battlefield is full of bugs and lacks a lot of basic functions. Example, cavalry charges are unstoppable against every damn unit, they destroy everything in their way also the most elite spearmen. Even the very light cavalry charge is deadly. One front charge can destroy 80% of an entire elite unit and many times very heavy cavalry is faster then very light cavalry. Infantry is useless, no shield wall nothing. This is ridiculous ! If Attila had more attention like Rome 2 it would be the best Total War ever made. If we talk about all Warhammers are just trash, when lizards, frogs, worms, rats and hornets fighting each other.

you talk a lot about the graphics, but in my opinion, what the series has lost the most is the feeling of real human masses:
    - units have lost their physical mass, all collisions are now super unrealistic
    - movements of units have become super synchronous, not realistic and feel very artificial
    - disgusting and unrealistic perfectly formations of units, with perfectly correct rows and columns
all of these things were "presented" in 2008 with the first alphas of the Empire and have not been fixed until now

Definitly ever since empire total war I noticed that 3d models became less detailed than before...
Rome 1 and Medieval 2 were truly well designed games in terms of the art style. Especially Medieval 2 which I consider as the peak of total war design. (The detailed settlements, the deferentiated units even armor upgrades) wow medieval 2 was a work of art when it was released. the only thing that stands against it is that its dated.
Empire was ambitious but lacked the texture details we see in medieval 2 ... Shogun 2 art style was great also but the battlemaps were very bland and lacked details.
Rome 2 (for me) is the worst looking graphics in the post shogun 2 era. I think they could have done much better than that. Still its among my most played tw titles ever. Attila was more atmospheric so its colors kinda fleshed out the deficiencies in the art style. Although ToB was just a reworked attilla it improved over its predecessor.
3k art style is great also troy which bodes well for the future of the series.

Hi Andy, yea you're totally crazy ... Ok just kidding! lol I feel you got it right with the top 3. I'm a huge Napoleon fan, so glad it made it into the no. 2 slot :)

Sometimes its nice to set aside the try hard and micro and just watch the battles... and enjoy that sweet sweet immersion.

Tell your Audio editor to learn the difference between art style and direction of a game and graphical settings lol

Andy - Please stop with the stupid titles. Your content is great, but the ridiculous titles are really just giving a sense of let down when you watch them.

For me its pretty easy, old titles like Rome or Medieval 2 are plain ugly, new ones like Warhammer 3 or Troy are way too cartoonish or arcady... for me the golden age and sweet spot and best of best are 3 titles:
    Napoleon arguable the best
Attila and Rome following, just being very pleasing, especially with the mods of Attila , Classical Empires, Dawnless Days, Medieval 1212, it feels like 4 game in one, and slightly unique feel to it, I just hands down love it.
