Another thoughtful and informative video from Avg. Joe. my assessment is that fashion brands rely on perceived value boosting based on psychological influencing rather than fact and reason. The products of at least one such brand have been shown to be composed of low quality parts assembled in the cheapest of conditions absent of quality control. For those concerned about the well-being of the people who make the products we buy, the term cheapest of conditions also means low pay and poor working conditions.

You made some valid observations in your review, but as a matter of personal taste and preference, I do like the simplicity and elegance of Movado watches. I own a few, and find them to be reliable and durable in their day to day function. The only concern that I have with them is that for the prices paid, the plated finishes tend to scratch a little too easily. As a result, I have to exercise extra care while wearing them. Nonetheless, Movado is still a highly recognizable brand. My Movado watches continue to draw more attention and compliments than the other reputable brands that I own.

A lot of great points here. I do think the price is an issue, but I guess not enough of an issue for them to bring their prices down haha, as they undoubtedly sell a healthy amount of pieces. I think fashion brands are valuable to the watch community in the same way smart watches are valuable. Regardless of what people think of MVMT, their MASSIVE marketing arm has gotten quite a few people (some that I know personally) into the watch game. They definitely aren't for me, but if they get someone to dip their toes into the watch market and begin appreciating watches as a whole, I look at that as a net positive. spot the f on. elegance and simplicity is how they built it. if you want more bells and whistles, there’s literally 10 or 20 brands that do that which is why movado perfected it’s niche. you don’t compare rolls royce to lexus, infiniti or acura but the latter brands are still luxury with striking good looks and functionality. i think ppl like to be condescending to gain some sort of perceived credibility. this video is an example of that.

Movado is like the Mercedes Benz of watches. They are slightly overpriced and depreciate significantly but have such a timeless design that they fit any occasion. For instance, a Benz C300 is a "cheap" Benz and a lot of consumer brands are actually more expensive, but to the average person it's still a major flex, based on the namesake.

Its very interesting that the reviews by "Watch Reviewers" trash Movado Watches.. Yet the comment sections will be filled with Movado OWNERS who've owned them for years and LOVE them.
I think it comes down to Movado realizing that Swiss Mechanical Movements, while elegant and great technology for their time, cannot compare to the modern Swiss Quartz Movements (i.e. 22 jewel - 84.C5.1897.0 Chronograph) that have VASTLY Superior Accuracy. This is NOT an opinion, it is science... Swiss Quartz Movements have greater accuracy than ANY Mechanical Movements.

I have a lot of different watches in my collection, but believe it or not, I still get the most compliments on my Movado's. Especially my Movado Sapphire Silver Mirror. Every time I wear that thing it turns heads and someone stops to compliment it. When it comes down to strictly design, Movado is still my favorite brand. I received a Movado Red Label automatic museum watch with a lizard strap as a gift from work back in the early 2000s when I was in my early 20s. I wore it for a bit, then took a break from it, now its back in the rotation with my other "daily" watches, I like it now because I feel like I'm the only one wearing it when I'm out. I also received a Raymond Weil Tango swiss quartz that is part of my "daily" watch collection (I received as a gift) as well. I like it for work and business trips, it looks nice and it doesn't stick out so much, pretty much a grab and go watch when I'm in a rush - I like that I don't have to adjust the time on it . I think that’s the problem, resellers and oh this is an investment. Nope its a watch to be enjoyed, if you wanna invest, there’s always the stock market. I do however do agree about pricing.

Hey David! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m not an advocate of buying watches as an investment because as you said, there’s the stock market for that. More likely than not, unless you’re buying a Rolex, AP, Vacheron or any other watch the Avg. Joe cannot afford, your watch will depreciate as soon as you take it home just like an automobile. Thanks for watching.

Idk i just bought a calendomatic which i think looks great. I picked it up over a tissot seastar ..

I like the 🐼 Calendomatic a lot actually but the price needs to go down for me to be a buyer. The Seastar is an excellent value however and will hold its value plus you’re getting a Swiss automatic from a company that has been around since 1853. Each their own.

@@AvgJoeWatchReviews Seastar is nice too though i debated it. Just felt that id be unlikely to run into someone with a calendomatic, plus i got it for less than what the seastar cost
