This weeks Challenge:
BUILD YOUR OWN RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINE!
If you did this challenge last year, you may already know that the Rube Goldberg challenge is all about complexity. Build a chain-reaction type machine that solves a new, simple problem in an overly complex way. This is the coolest part of being an engineer - if you want something to exist and it doesn't yet, you build it into existence. As always, be safe and get a parent's permission before building. Once you've filmed it, work with your parents to share it with us!
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR CHALLENGES?
Parents: Tag challenge project video submissions @crunchlabs with #CampCrunchlabsContest on Instagram or Twitter. Then complete this form www.crunchlabs... Submissions will be evaluated based on (1) engineering prowess, (2) results of experiment or build, (3) attention to detail in recreating experiment or build, and (4) suitability of the video for promotional use. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Contest begins 9:00 AM PT on 6/1/24 & ends 11:59 PM PT on 8/13/24; but, to be eligible to win Grand Prize, one must enter by 11:59 PM PT on 7/30/24. Open to legal residents of the 50 U.S. & D.C., who are 18+ and the parent or legal guardian of at least (1) child between 8-16 years of age. Grand Prize winner must travel 8/16/24-8/18/24. Hi Mark, this 67 yr old kid always enjoys your videos. The rubber chicken was the best. Just one note, the term penny is so ingrained into our culture I don’t think it’ll ever be stopped. The US mint never made any Pennie’s. A penny is a British slang for a pence.
Don’t worry about it, The Price is Right has a penny game. It’s really crazy how many common day words come from different languages. Love your channel. George

The liquid in the balloon after it was in the liquid nitrogen is not carbon dioxide. CO2 is a solid at those temperature and coats the inside of the balloon. The liquid is liquid oxygen which has a boilng point higher than nitrogen so is liquified first.
One time in gym class we were playing dodgeball and a kid threw a dodgeball at me so fast that after it bounced off of my finger (ouch) it went straight toward one of the same kind of plastic trash cans that mark was kicking and it broke the trashcan. To put this in perspective, mark kicked those while they were frozen and then hey still didn't break.
Mildly curious about oxygen displacement. I know the atmosphere is already about 80% nitrogen, but that last 20% is pretty vital. I remember there were warnings on dry ice about asphyxiation, but maybe the nitrogen is light enough to not have real problems?
Liquid nitrogen during evaporation can fill up a closed room and keep fresh air from getting in through vents. Hence it's best to keep doors open when pouring LN2.

I believe that CO2 does not have a liquid state at atmospheric(ish) pressures. It goes directly from gas to solid just the opposite of dry ice going directly to gas. You need significant pressure like in a CO2 fire extinguisher, to have CO2 in a liquid state.
Was the liquid actually water from his breath that was condensed by the cold temperatures but did not get cold enough for long enough to freeze?
