To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand old SMG4. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Mario's dumbass outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Old TH-cam poop literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE.

9:19 is probably my favorite part of the whole arc. Mario being determined. He may still be an idiot and troll his friends. But at the end of the day he loves them and cares and nobody fucks with them. It shows his change of heart and the incredible job smg4 and his brother are doing. We all like dumb spaghetti obsessed mario, but what we all should love is that + this mario. Because from my knowledge of the smg4 universe when mario is determined, nothing stops him and that light flickers in his head.

This is the big change from the rapper bob arc. Before then, bob was an asshole who only wanted fame, but afterwards, he became an asshole who cares for his friends.
I really like how Mario actually feels bad for his friends, he's come a long way. This arc shows that the people he used to bully, torment, and downright hurt actually mean more to him than anything else. He never would have cared about Bob or Fishy Boopkins yet he still shows sadness at their deletion. Mario does actually care for those around him, even if his stupidity prevents him from caring all the time. Really good arc, SMG4

What make this genius is that the beginning felt so cringe. Then I realized this is SMG3 we're talking about. He couldn't let the characters do whatever they wanted properly. He wanted it to be exactly like SMG4. His only big mistake was not having Mario for his "wacky adventure." He's the glue that tapes the roster.
Not to mention his plan was already going to shit. He manipulated lookalikes of the original characters to replace them and fucked the space time continunum overall. It’s a fucking travesty to actually REPLACE the original characters.
I bet when he sees Mario with his friends, SMG3 wouldn't fight, he'd just stop and try to process the fact that MARIO was the one to trick him, but due to it being so seemingly impossible, his brain would just break in half and he'd just go insane or something.

9:19 is probably my favorite part of the whole arc. Mario being determined. He may still be an idiot and troll his friends. But at the end of the day he loves them and cares and nobody fucks with them. It shows his change of heart and the incredible job smg4 and his brother are doing. We all like dumb spaghetti obsessed mario, but what we all should love is that + this mario. Because from my knowledge of the smg4 universe when mario is determined, nothing stops him and that light flickers in his head.

I really like how Mario actually feels bad for his friends, he's come a long way. This arc shows that the people he used to bully, torment, and downright hurt actually mean more to him than anything else. He never would have cared about Bob or Fishy Boopkins yet he still shows sadness at their deletion. Mario does actually care for those around him, even if his stupidity prevents him from caring all the time. Really good arc, SMG4
