  • Here I’ll show you how to remove your alternator from your 2013 3.8 Genesis coupe Grand Touring. Bk2
    I don’t make a lot of videos but haven’t seen a real good video for one of these swaps yet. I tried to cover the basics and showed y’all what I would do in this situation, I figured any help is good help!
    Lmk if you have any questions! In the comments!

      When I'm taking it off. And after that do I have to recharge the cooling system

      When you take that off there is Freon that is the “hissing” and yes you will need to get your AC recharged

    Did your battery light come on? Was that a indicator that your alternator was going out?
    I went and tested my battery and it was fine so im assuming its the alternator

      Yesssir battery light was on after replacing alternator it went off make sure you band test the new alternator when you get it at autozone or oreillys so you don’t find out later when it’s already in the car

      @mattoconnor6604 hey man thanks for the quick response, I was hesitant on changing it out myself, a shop quoted me $217 for labor but after watching your video I think I'll attempt it myself

      I ended up finally getting it on today, I didn't have to remove the coolant hose or the ac line.

    Why did you run throw so many alternators what amp did you use??? So i know not to buy

    • @mattoconnor6604
      @mattoconnor6604  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Make sure when you buy from oreillys or auto zone or any aftermarket alternator. Make sure you have them “band test” it before you buy it. Some of them come defective from the box. If you ask for the test then you’ll have your answer

      Won’t need anything extraordinary. But you’ll need basic ratchet set the ones I used were 10mil, 12mil and either 14mil or 16mil. You’ll need pliers to remove clips. and get yourself a bar that can wedge between the alternator and engine. Don’t be afraid to really hit that hoe out (the old one). You’ll be working in a tight space aswell but the new one should slip right in. Hope this helps!

      @@chaanellno5 head over to oreillys or autozone I don’t exactly remember what mm I used but I’m pretty sure you’ll need the 16mm aswell. Those stores should have them sold singularly and if you don’t use it you can always take it back!

      @@mattoconnor6604 Thanks for that, I thought the whole radiator fan needed to be removed for that.
