- Simple How To Replace Hydraulic Hose, in this case it was a 5000lb forklift, but the process is the same for any equipment with hydraulics.
The big lesson is that the process is simple and the hoses are readily available at any hydraulic supplier. The hoses are nothing more than a standard high pressure hose, cut to length and fittings are crimped on each end.
There are endless types of fittings and they are very specific to each application, so you may have to order some if they are not in stock at your local distributor.
Most places that sell equipment, skid steers, tractors and such will have the ability to make hoses.
If we called a mobile forklift service it would have been $300 for a service call, $150 for the hose, fluid and they would likely try to sell you more hoses telling you that they are old and will break soon. While that is true, it is still much cheaper to do it yourself.

What if its the long hoses how would you jack the forks at a height?
We actually replaced the long hoses a few years ago and made those ourselves using reusable ends ( www.discounthydraulichose.com/shop?Search=reusable+end ).
Those are the easiest to replace because they just loop around pulleys and are easily accessible without having to jack up the forks. to get to them. And again, no need to worry about position, the system will bleed itself. Just install the hose and the hydraulic pump will take care of the positioning.
If you do need to jack the forks up, once the system is open, hoses off, you should be able to jack up the forks with any jack or even a winch or come-along. Just be ready for fluid to leak out as you do that, if necessary.
What size wrench did you use?
