I live in Yelm and sit on top of a lot of rocks in my dirt as well (or maybe a little dirt in the rocks). Glad to see a western Washingtonian build a machine that shows what it'll do with our type of soil. Good design and great description.
Ya and if ya wanted to screen out one inch rock you could make a third level or layer and use a smaller screen or make a smaller screen and replace your bigger screen with it snd then just rerun the material through it.
I was wondering when you would do a video showing this in action. not sure how I missed it. I did pretty much finish my super shaker soil sifter and it works great! I used a gas engine on mine for the shaking part. I used it to clean rocks from my landscaping. works really well. I did a video on mine back in the summer. enjoyed the video hope you are doing well.
Nice. Maybe should have ran the boards to the ground to prevent clean soil and rock from mixing and serve as a backstop for tractor bucket. Will probably be copying most of your design. Thanks!
It was nice to see your Dirt Sifter in action. I don't remember if you explained why you didn't extend the front boards all the way to the base of the legs. So none of the separated stone fell back into the dirt?
I did not put a board all of the way down because I did not want to hit it with the loader when I was removing the rocks or dirt. The amount of mixing of the rock and the clean dirt is very minimal and it seems to be working well.
Nice build. Have you made any adjustments to it since it was built? Wondered if the angle was adjusted steeper or some of the other ideas shared were incorporated.
Sarge 9762 check out the below link it is the third video of the shaker build. I think it shows the motor install. th-cam.com/video/06BQJXJ-9mk/w-d-xo.html
I’m sure it possible it would have to be really sturdy! I estimate that I ha e had 3000lbs of dirt on this one at one time. And the motor is shaking. I have had to replace most of the bolts for the screen over time the shaking really make the mechanical connections come apart.
I built a wood frame screener using chain link fencing (no vibrator) and ran about 50 yards before it started to fall apart. I'm also using it to screen 5-6" rocks so it really takes a pounding.
Dear every guy on youtube: Take the video AS YOU ARE BUILDING/REPAIRING THINGS in action fir all to learn from, instead of malkng videos describbng what you "did". It's youtube, not DESCRIBEtube.
Dear Every Ridiculous Commenter on TH-cam (@nt7886): you apparently didn't bother watching all the way to the end of this video where Dan linked a full build of his soil sifter/shaker. Excellent work Dan. I'll be moving back to the Kitsap side of the pond in the coming years and will need to build something very much like this. Thanks for the ideas!

Awesome ideas. Hanging the classifier screen from the frame to isolate the vibrations was super. I'm gonna have to redesign my own now. :)
Good design & machine. Well done!
Thanks for sharing.
Man this is one of the best designs I have seen!

I love the idea but my daddy would have freaked out about those half bucket loads lol
Very good design
You said it right. There maybe better metal for the project but if ya got free metal to use that’s tough to beat price wise.
That works great 👍

Awesome indeed
Nice project

Great idea
Great work! How loud is it?
Great info. Well thought out.
how many watts is your motor? how many watts would you recommend for much smaller 2'x5' sifter?
What vibrator engine are you using ?
I live on a small farm in Central Park outside of aberdeen I wish we had some rocks in are dirt
No you don’t.
You should start making these and selling them . A lot of people want something like this but will not take the time to build one .
That’s a brilliant setup .. I’ve built one for my property not as good as yours I might rebuild one with the shaker so Thankyou for sharing sir 👍👌😊
Nice job! Do the metal pipe ends rub and wear the extension cord you ran through it? Seems like the shaking could cut through that cord after a while.
gotta lot of round river rock in that stuff you aut to pan a bucket of that dirt out to see if theres any gold in that stuff
Unless he likes doing it as a hobby, there are far easier and better ways to make money...
Its Glacial till on the Kitsap, would be microscopic gold, but would be fun to try and find some.
Would this work with heavy clay soil and large (3 or 4 inch diameter) roots?
Large rock yes clay soil not really

Thank you for your response, and your insight.
Add electric motor to increase yard prossesing

Interesting. I’d be interested in using it to sieve fines out of crushed rock that’s been scraped from driveways.
Are you pleased with the shaker motor that you used?
It work ok, a bigger one or even two of the one I ha e would have been better.
Nice job. How is the motor mounted?

Thanks for this :-)
do you think you should wear a dust mask so you don't get farmers lung? Your breating in small clay particles.
Sift on. 😀
You think its possible to build one out of wood and still be strong enough for taking a beating

Good build, horrible soil.
верно!

not as fine as the dust in your lungs
