    I don’t know folks, I’ve heard several pedals created with Chat GPT and IMHO, the ones created pre chat 3.5 release had a noticeably warmer sound and displayed far greater touch sensitivity. Just saying… if you can pick up one of those pedals, you’ll be impressed

    I think the concern he raised about how the Chat AI seemed so confident in its wrongness was very interesting. Maybe AI should simply be treated as another smart person in the room and has some good ideas, but still doesn’t know everything.

    • @TrashHeapCustodian
      @TrashHeapCustodian ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Well the thing people have to remember is that it does not actually possess any ability to think whatsoever
      All chatGPT is doing is looking at the database of words its creators have scraped from the internet, looking at the category they fit, and assembling the words in roughly a way that its algorithm has calculated makes sense for syntax. That's it. Calling it a glorified autocorrect isn't *completely* accurate but it is a decent illustration for casual understanding.
      The fact it put out anything that didn't catch fire as soon as you applied power is simply a testament to the data it scraped being half-decent.

    • @FjordFuzz
      @FjordFuzz ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@TrashHeapCustodian I agree with this sentiment. I suppose I should have worded it more like this: "the way that it operates, given no directions not to, should be expected to cause some to trust it as were it more of an oracle than a somewhat complicated next step search engine and the answers it gives to the prompts it receives are delivered with a certainty that could be expected to cause some issues to the user who isn't aware of how it works", but then again, I guess I'm speaking to the grander narrative here, all things considered! Thanks for watching!

      @frankb5728 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TrashHeapCustodian It's like searching on google for something and taking the top 3 results and condensing the answers into a single one.. It can be useful and save some time but it's mostly just bullshit.

      @JUNK_ZONE ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, yeah. AI isn't an all encompassing thing. It needs all of the things that humans do, which is why it's a tool for humans to use and nothing more. An AI clerk with access to ONLY what they have access to. You WILL get an answer, but ONLY based on what it was taught. People just need to be educated on the concept more I think. They think all AI is attached to ONE massive hard drive full of every thought/bit of data ever recorder by humans or something. It just isn't. There are so many different factors at play, which is why the living breathing human element is required for AI to be useful/worth anything at all.

    • @FjordFuzz
      @FjordFuzz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JUNK_ZONE certainly. In hindsight I should’ve probably talked a bit more precisely about what constitutes my actual hesitation with the availability of these models: the chatbots seem to understand, think and behave in a way that could make it difficult to interface with for regular old human beings, operating with insufficient information on how these systems work. There’s an element of magic and wonder there that can lead to confusion at best.

    I wouldn't be so down on Midwestern views.
    I went to a house in Nebraska once that had the most amazing view of Bob's Tasty Freeze. It looked like an old Tasty Freeze, but this one was Bob's Tasty Freeze. You could watch the sun set glow through the windows in a magical way. And you could see the sunrise reflected off the glass in the morning. In that one view you could feel the wonderment of early man's relationship with the cosmos, as it happened. As you say on the porch throughout the day, the sunlight would highlight different aspects of Bob's Tasty Freeze, as it wove a tapestry of light and stories that transcended time itself. It's magical. So take in the beauty of the urban Midwest whenever you can. I highly recommend touring the various Home Depot locations and spend a few hours at each one from the parking lot. Just to reconnect with the cosmic wheel and realign your chakra.
    Chanting helps also. See how many people you can get to chant with you.

    Greetings from Japan. Thanks again for your interesting videos.
    You and the commenters are right, ChatBot is still imperfect. It tells mistakes as truth. Your videos will be an eye opener for those who believe in ChatBot.
    Well, I did one experiment: I let ChatGPT design a transistor booster.
    As it turns out, it was a challenge.
    I think it is great that he has explained the bias voltage and talked about the need for a coupling capacitor.
    However, he never for any length of time suggested values for RC, RE, and RB. He also made mistakes in the schematic connections and amplification factor calculations.
    Each time I instructed him, it was as if I had become an AI.
    I was able to get close to the correct circuit. However, this was only possible with the support of a knowledgeable person, and it proved impossible for an amateur to build a pedal by asking an AI to do everything for him.
    Thank you for giving me a chance to have a fun experience😊

As an aside, My JHS Berkeley 1973 is still in the box from Sweetwater. I am saving it as an unboxing for the right moment. I will play it through an experimental prototype slab guitar from Taylor Guitars I picked up at a local Music Go Round here in Minnetonka MN. It was cheapo...5 bills and pristine in the tweed hard case. If we all pray right... I will find the courage to push through my Asperger's and put the result up on my dormant TH-cam channel. But as he said unless the AI gets better at best it's basically some random inspiration for a person who already knows what they're doing.

    On the subject of AI and art, I think it can spit out ideas and chunks that’s human can then make into something worthwhile beyond a curiosity.
    “AI Music Mixtape” by Amy Dentata is brilliant. She took samples from Jukebox, chopped and screwed them into more coherent chunks, used them as samples and assembled them into real songs. Then she wove them into a story with lore, characters and feelings.

    This is the thing that bothers me about when people talk about ChatGPT. They tend to impart that GPT has some sort of understand of that its saying.
    It doesn't. The only thing ChatGPT knows is what text is expected given the input of the question.
    So when you ask for code on reverb, its looking at all the examples of people answering how to write code that its been trained on, and what code looks like for reverb that people have written before and returns what its found as it thinks someone would expect.
    Its more like a Parrot saying "polly wants a cracker", it doesn't understand what polly is, or that Want means to desire or even what a cracker is. Its just been trained that when you say Polly wants a cracker, its expected to say it back. And if you're happy, it will get rewarded with food.

      I was hoping to be the first! I think down the line these systems will creep into the design development of all sorts of things. The novelty aspect is obviously a marketing opportunity, also for me, but the main goal here was to see if it was even possible to use these systems for the development and the answer is “kind of, but not really”. As a virtual creative partner it’s pretty neat though. I wouldn’t trust it to deliver anything on its own, but given the right mindset it’s at least somewhat useful. I give it a C and applaud it for decent effort.

    The oscillation ramps up too fast. Should be a wah enclosure instead to control it in real time.

    That's one hell of a pedalboard! I love the sound of this pedal, but they're probably gonna charge close to $250 I'd imagine. I would just get a strymon in that case. Someone needs to have Ai design a new guitar.

    One would find the pedal will go into protective mode when your home is invaded and vaporize intruders too. Hidden easter egg in it.

    Personally, it seems like the ultimate result was that an unremarkable pedal was designed in an interesting way.
    Its notable, but not sure what the commercial appeal of the product itself is.
