  • On January 8th, 2024, Mika Race delivered a passionate speech at a Pigeon Forge City Hall meeting, shedding light on the injustice of eminent domain in their community. The Race family's ordeal began when a road project, originally planned to pass through an undeveloped campground owned by a city official, was diverted to take out their house instead.
Mika Race's message was clear: the family isn't seeking a handout but is demanding what is rightfully theirs. They call on the city to either return what was taken or compensate them fairly. Their plea is not just for themselves but for all residents facing similar challenges. It's a call for justice and fairness in the face of powerful interests.
The meeting was a pivotal moment, highlighting the real impact of decisions made by those in power on ordinary citizens. Mika's words resonated with many, sparking a conversation about the importance of protecting property rights and ensuring that the voices of the community are heard.
As the Race family continues to fight for their rights, their message is clear: they are not backing down until justice is served. Stay tuned for more updates on this important story and the fight for fairness in Pigeon Forge.

Thank you so much for this comment. You have no idea what it means to our family. I will be back at city hall on March 11th and 25th at 5:30 pm . We welcome any support from the community to come and speak on our behalf. Other locals have come out to show support and it is unreal. Gods people are an ARMY that stick together.

100% agree. If this happened to us it can happen to anyone. Eminent Domain is so ugly and unjust. We are just hard working, law abiding, God fearing people.@@billymathes1257

That explains why the road was moved, the trailer park property is owned by a city official. Screw someone else, enough said. And why wasn't the sale of that property stopped? The mayor needs to be investigated.

If I purchase something after a decision has been made the fault falls on me... for example The city made a decision Jan 1 2000 to take property X. I then purchase property X January 2 2000 or any time after that it is not the governments fault i purchased that on Jan 2 (or after) In your case on 10/26/21 PF decided the road would go through 326 Ogle Dr and Approved on 11/22/2021. You then Purchased the property 8/17/22.Quit going after the government go after your realtor, the seller and the sellers realtor. VERY SIMPLE

You should have done your due diligence. You didn’t. That is not the city’s problem.
And the city offered you more than fair value for the property. You demanded future potential earnings from the property that might or might not have been realized.

So very sad and frustrating! It's very disappointing for myself and I'm sure for others who enjoy visiting Pigeon Forge. They should repay you for everything dollar you've invested in that property. Why did they just sit there and not reply to any of your questions? It appears they are money-hungry, greedy like so many. The campground owners should not be servivng on council, in elected positions, etc. where they vote & make decisions to benefit themselves instead of the area/people they were elected to serve. That's a conflict of interest for sure. I pray you receive answers and resolution soon.

the people purchased the home for $309k 9 months after it was approved to be part of the highway. PF offered almost $500k. The people were gonna use it as an investment property. Their counter to PF 3 million. The people knew what was up and looked at it as a pay day.

Another case of “dirty pool” being played by the higher-ups who obviously have a vested interest in making sure the campground is protected at the expense of a family’s home!😡

Well road projects take years to develop. The previous owner probably knew and why the house came up for sale. I say you won't win in court if the project is dated before your purchase. You will have to sue the previous owner for not disclosing the road project.

A logically speaking squeaky wheel will get a lot of attention. You are doing a good job this needs to go as I said before to the governor and never stop take it to the media shine as much light on that darkness as you can. You call for the stepping down of each and every member on that panel.

They don't want to let a jury decide, that would be relinquishing power to the people and unfortunately that's not how the majority of our elected officials work.

I’m seeing they purchased the property for $306k and the city offered them $490k. They figured they had the city over a barrel and tried to strong arm them by asking for $3 million.
