Truly enjoyed the day with the Trueloves! Keep well, Jean, I understand your tiredness, I am finishing up chemo infusions and doing quite well, thank you Jesus. Make sure you rest after a big day. Although I need to listen to myself. Rest is important! God Bless and love to all the Trueloves💕🙏
Oh, I do hope the treatments are helping you. I don't have it as rough as you have had things, surely. Please take care and we BOTH must listen to our bodies when they say "STOP" and "REST"!! Hugs!!
Dear Jean, thank you for sharing your simple day with us. I love a train ride. Wherever we go in the uk we always look for a steam railway. The smell and chugging of the old engines remind me of my childhood. Hope you and all your family stay safe and well, love to all the Trueloves 🏴🏴
Ian told me he loved 'train spotting' when he was younger and loved seeing the old steam engines chugging along! Every time we see something like that on TV, he reminds me!! LOL! Hope you are well and safe Margaret:)
Love taking the train through the LA traffic!! No freeway driving. Makes a trip so much nicer! Glad you had such a good time. You’re SO right, it’s the small things in life that are so lovely 😊
I loved sharing your simple day with you. My 9 year old grandson is autistic and I know how important routine is. Glad everything worked out for Maxwell.
What a wonderful video. You are so fortunate to get those passes for free, we can get them at a reduced rate but not free for seniors 😢. Sometimes it’s fun to be a tourist in your own city ❤
I love riding the trains. Never been in your neck of the woods, but, maybe someday.😊 Thank for our holiday wishes. I appreciate you. I’m so happy about the backpack. We have a blessed grandson with Autism. 🥰
I grew up in Warminster near Hatboro. I have a sister who still lives there. Another sister lives in Willow Grove near the train station. Another sister lives in Quakertown, a sister in Southamption. And me, I live in Maryland right on the Chesapeake Bay!! 🦀🦀🦀 I enjoyed listening to your adventure on the train and visiting Center City Philly!! Some of my sisters go to the Flower Show but I have not been. Sending love and prayers for All the Trueloves ❤️🙏🤗
You know the area well! Did you all go to Upper Moreland High? I did, class of 74 :) You must get down to the flower show at the Convention Center...well worth the trip:)
I loved hearing about your trip! I have never been up in that part of America. Simple is more fun and realizing! We don’t celebrate it as Jesus birthday but use this time to celebrate his birthday when ever it was. I know Maxwell needs to get out and explore and do something different. Keep sharing!
Thanks for sharing Jean your lovely simple day! Where I live (Houston Tx), no 😢 train transportation 😢. Anywhere we need to go you have to get in a car and drive! 😢. So keep enjoying those simple days with family! Once again thanks for sharing with us out here! 😊😊
Thanks for sharing your day out with us! I’m a home body too, but it is refreshing to get out and see something different once in awhile. How nice to not feel the pressure to spend a lot to do it. I’m glad Maxwell found a new backpack he likes. I well know how difficult those things can be. Ethan has such a hard time with public restrooms. They can be hard to find in some cities, downtown Portland Oregon is especially challenging that way. We carry hand sanitizer, wipes and Lysol spray 😊 Soon the paradise will be here and all these woes will be past ❤❤❤
Yes, it was good to get out. It was a perfectly beautiful day too. Cold but not too cold. No rain, Not real busy, clean environment etc. All in all a SUCCESS!!! Won't it be wonderful to have forever to have those PERFECT days!! :)
Oh, I loved this video. I have always believed that traveling by train is romantic. Thank you for sharing your outing - it was grand and I really enjoyed your photos of Philadelphia too. Philly has so very much history. I have to say, I knew you didn't celebrate traditional holidays, but you are so gracious in acknowledging that others do and wishing us and our families well. You are a gem, Jean Truelove ❤
Aw thanks so much Marybeth:) It was such a lovely day:) No matter our differing beliefs, we understand that others are enjoying this special time of year and we hope all are feeling the love and goodwill!! Hugs!!
You're making me homesick. I miss Reading Terminal Market, especially the Bassett Ice Cream booth. Growing up, I went often into the city with my grandfather on the train (long before the train shed conversion to the convention center). Later, I lived in the city (Chestnut Hill) while attending Tyler School of Art (before the campus moved from Elkins Park to TU main campus). I also miss going to Wanamakers and S&C - both long gone, but the memories remain. Also, I miss going to the art museum. Thanks for sharing it brings back so many memories of growing up there.
Wonderful chat! The trouble with local trains here in CA is that the routes are lined with homeless encampments and it’s very sad. But my Mom lives at the beach and has a trolley that runs all summer quite a distance along the coast -free! The drivers are always funny and they play old songs. That’s our summer entertainment. We can get off for treats and short walks. Thank you for the tour. I have never been to Philly or the eastern US so I enjoyed it very much. Ian had a great idea! I am a homebody too but if someone plans the day and puts me in a seat to go, I surprise myself how much I enjoy it.
The seaside trolley sounds magical! And like you, once I get into things, I'm good...but even better that after a tiring day ~ GLAD to be back at home!! LOL!
Hmmmn 🤔........now you got me thinking about taking trains once in a blue moon......lol. I'm in upstate NY and it is so beautiful along the Hudson River Line
It was such a lovely day! The historic district, Society Hill etc., so clean and nice now! But tell me ~~~ do YOU buy that expensive meat at the Reading Terminal Market!?!? LOL! LOL!
You are sew right about the meat prices. Way out of my price range! Chicken for me too. For low key visits to CC, can recommend visiting (on different trips) the 5 original squares. All free and interesting. Franklin, Washington, Logan, Rittenhouse and City Hall. City Hall Courtyard reminds me of a castle.
So nice to hear about your day trip on the train and to see some of the sights. Thankfully Maxwell managed to get a replacement for his back pack he was happy with. My daughter has 3 autistic children and we well know the distress any change unexpected or planned can create. Hoping you can get his medication sorted out soon and that his seizures come back under control. Blessings from the Welsh valleys
Yes, our dear kids - challenges all along the way can disrupt! Thankfully we averted disaster. Maxwell is such a trooper - what a sweetheart:) Hugs to Wales! :)
Hi Jean, Ian & Maxwell! What fun!!! Thank you for sharing. I think you & I might be a year apart, I don't remember, but we take advantage of any & all Senior discounts we can get 🤣🤣 I tell Randy all the time "we've earned it!" Mostly at restaurants.
You’re right, we DO deserve all the senior discounts!!! I'll be 68 in January...WAIT...that is just a few weeks away!!!!!! OH NO!! YIKES!!! LOL! Where did the time go to?!?!
How wonderful that seniors are actually getting perks and they should be. I’m happy to hear you took advantage of this perk and will continue to for a change of pace. I do believe it’s so important for us to get out into the world beyond our home, to see people, and enjoy the sites and the progress within our communities. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Wishing you good health, happiness and safety for you and yours. 👍❤️😊
Yes, sometimes I get stuck in the mundane (after having led a very busy and stressful life raising a large family) and I am hesitant to try new(er) things. But I am always glad I did.....but even happier to get back home! :)
I have been getting shots for a neurological condition that affects my eyes. My husband and I got our Senior fare passes a few years ago and we take the train into Philadelphia four times a year to Jefferson Hospital and it is always a pleasant trip. It is so much better than driving there, finding parking and driving back, plus it is free! It is a short walk from the station, especially since they moved to a new building that is closer to Market Street. We have still not done much sightseeing but keep saying we need to do that “some day”. We live out in the suburbs and are quite content so it takes a lot to get us excited about going into the city other than our four necessary trips a year. Glad you got your passes! It’s a great deal!
Train rides are some of my favourite memories. When I was young, with my family, either moving (east coast of Canada to the prairies), travelling (across Canada, from the pacific northwest region where we live to the east coast where we have a lot of family), or sightseeing (when young, in Europe with family, when father was stationed in Germany for his military service - it was the best way to see Europe for us).
Glad that you, Ian & Maxwell got to go to this adventure and that you enjoyed it... Sometimes I do the same not wanted to go somewhere but when I do go, I have enjoyed the adventure... Never turned down adventures you never know what fun you will have. Thanks for sharing the train ride and Philly.
Hi there yes we used to have trains here in the city naturally they took them off. Grrrr. I been on trains but i get sick where i have ear issues boats i get sea sick. Lol it is the motion. I think. I am home a lot had two infections but ok now just tired finished one quilt like to show you some time. Getting cold here in St. John’s Newfoundland no snow grrrrr. Loves my snow have a great weekend love Beverley
Maxwell had to sit in the seats facing forward - the motion would have been bad had we had to sit in the backwards facing seats. But all in all, it was a lovely ride! I do hope you are on the mend a bit!! You dear thing! Hugs!!
It was nice to hear about your little train trip! I was worried when I saw in the video that Maxwell was still carrying his old backpack. Wasn’t he worried that stuff was gonna fall out of it with a broken zipper? I would’ve been; so I wd hv taken the stuff and put it in the new one right away, so I didn’t lose anything. 😂
He turned his 'back' pack to the front and was careful to hold the zipper. He didn't want to crouch in the corner of the store, or on the busy sidewalk to change over. He needed a quiet safe place to organize his things and that was at home, which we did once we got there. He had to figure out where his bits and pieces were best placed in his new bag.
Oh dear Jean, what a lovely chat and experience you shared with all of us. Guess what?? We have done just the same excursion by train and bus around Wellington, NZ. We celebrated our 53rd wedding ann. this week by taking the train and bus to have a lovely, relaxing, no stress following/followed by other cars. We had lovely lunch in town just like you did, wondered/shopped around town and when we had enough, we caught the bus to train station and traveled home again. Although, I am not sure where you are, as seniors, we can travel free from after 9.00AM - 3.00PM. Past 3.00PM there will be cost involved. What a day that was, so relaxing and very pleasant. I don't go for all the extravaganza celebrations, simple thing and way to mark the day is more than money can buy. Just as you said "Simple Pleasures" in life makes the day. Thank you Jean for sharing things in common, listening to your chats/experience makes my day. I hope you and family have a blessed day/week to come. Love always, Thelma❤❤
Thank you your wonderful stories always remind me of how important family and friends are in our lives. So glad you had a wonderful day.
Thanks for watching Sherry:) - family and friends are the best, aren't they?

Yes, what could have ruined the day, turned out okay!! our dear boys!!
What a wonderful video. You are so fortunate to get those passes for free, we can get them at a reduced rate but not free for seniors 😢. Sometimes it’s fun to be a tourist in your own city ❤
I couldn't quite believe Ian when he told me it was free....NOTHING in life is free!!! LOL! But YUP! It sure is!! :) Yippee!
I love riding the trains. Never been in your neck of the woods, but, maybe someday.😊
Thank for our holiday wishes. I appreciate you.
I’m so happy about the backpack. We have a blessed grandson with Autism. 🥰
Thanks Rebecca:) Yes, the backpack incident could have been a bit of a disaster...thank goodness for TJMaxx!!! LOL! Our dear darling boys....:)

It was a lovely change of scenery and one we will do again:) Thanks Cheryl:)
We were just talking about riding a train. I’ve never ridden one. You day sounds fantastic.
Thank you for watching! I hope you get to experience that simple pleasure someday.
Your always positive. I love it. I love listening to you. It’s like going drop in to visit a best friend
You are so sweet - I appreciate you watching!

Simple pleasures indeed Tara! We have to make time for them.
Hello Jean, I enjoy your videos, you make me happy. Maxwell is such a good looking guy.
Thanks Nancy:) He is a sweetheart:)
Thanks for taking us along😊💛
You are most welcome:)

I remember the large Wanamakers in Jenkintown and also in Center City. So many places that are no longer with us, but as you say, fond fond memories:)
It sounds like a lovely day!
It was Julie:) thank you:)
I love it when we just have a cup of tea together and just chat. 😊 Lovely video about a lovely day! ❤

Jean, I also meant to share that we even caught a double decker bus and sat right up the second deck just like two excited kids in their 70s 😊😊
Well that just sounds like the perfect day!

So happy all turned out well for Maxwell ❤
Yes, thanks! It was a bit of a panic there for a moment!
Thank you for sharing sis....I enjoy hearing your stories......I can picture myself there 😊😊
So glad you could 'picture' yourself there! It was lovely!
