Can you do a review on Cutco knives? I was hired and trained to sell their knives, but after a bit of research, I found out that the company has a very sketchy history, and now I'm on the fence on whether I should stay with Cutco. I'm actually job hunting as I'm typing this comment.
Hey kyle!!! Love the craftsmanship, would love to see ya do another run of chefs knives, I don't camp but I cook and would love to purchase your work. Cheers from Southern California!
Kyle, this video just brought back a ton of memories from my childhood. I grew up about 2 to 3 hours south of Bonner. All the old cowboys and woodsmen had the kind of knife you were working on. They loved these knives for the rugged look and the over all durability. That being said, you did an outstanding job on that knife. I have always wanted to see what one would look like all polished up, and you sir made it look absolutely stunning!
The before and after on this piece is totally awesome Kyle. That blade was seriously rough condition…. Look at er now. Love the videos Kyle and lovely work!!
Yeah it was amazing workmanship. I personally like the old blades when they have patina, and well look old, but its personal preference thing. The client wanted mirror polish, and Kyle definetly delivered just beautiful job
Great video man I love the restorations! I love grilled corn are used to cook mine just like that until my grandmother suggested another way. Leave the husk on the corn soak it in water for a couple hours before grilling then grill it slow and it will steam and you still get the smoky flavor. Then you can remove the husk and char it if you like that. Great video man keep up the good work
I feel honoured Kyle that I started following you long ago when 100000 subscribers was only a dream. I just have that instinct to pick out something , someone who is a cut above.. You are the man , and pleased to be in your company going forward.. What a restoration effect.. I had to set my cell phone down and put on my sunglasses 😎 It was blinding me..LOL Did I miss utubes plaque that they sent to you.. You should have it displayed on the wall as a reminder.. Your Bakeapple cuts a mean chunk out of my prime ribs….To be continued..
That's so kind, Mr. Peck. It's great to hear from you. You didn't miss the plaque. I didn't show it on camera. The video I did announcing the 100k milestone did very poorly, indicating that people just don't give a hoot (haha).. so I decided against another video speaking on the topic. It's sitting here nice a pretty on my shelf though. Very exciting. Enjoy those ribs!
Beautiful mirror polish on that fixed blade. Kyle, with all respect - I love the blade shape on the O-Knife. It's reminiscent of a trailing point Persian style, yet still a clip point. I've never been a fan of thumb holes in the blade (not a Spyderco guy), but I'd make an exception for this one. Great video, man!
That was a alot of work on the knife you worked on !! The O-Knife was really nice too . Im with you on the clip point and where the jimping is .I hope you and your family are doing well !! Great video as always Kyle! Take care and stay safe my friend!
Yeah if this knife would not have had clip point i would have seriously liked it. I personally like more of drop point, and when the tip of the knife is more or less centered with the handle. Those are just personal preference things, and maybe o knife have already different designs or in future as well.
Ruana knives are my personal favorite made in the great state of Montana. My old man had one gifted to him back in the 80s and I have never seen another knife that comes even close to the quality of Ruana. They are extremely valuable especially the old ones made from Studebaker leaf springs.
For collectors of R.H. Ruana knives, leaving a knife such as this one in its original as-found condition, with its original factory grind marks, and many years of worn finish is the best way to retain the absolute most value in the knife. This restoration is impressive, and the knife is more beautiful now (in some people's eyes) but unfortunately it has now lost value to many collectors. Just something to keep in mind. Also, some people see the beauty in a knife that retains its original finish, wear marks, scratches, etc as it tells a story of history and how it was used over its lifetime as a useful tool. They are only original once!
Yeah i personally love the vintage knife patina as long its not actual rust. Kyle also just did what the client wants, and im sure the client will be extremely happy. I have never before heard this company, and the knife looks really cool. Over here i dont find lot of old american knives from flea markets, and so on, but definetly will pick one up if im lucky enough to come across one.
It’s pretty obvious though that this customer doesn’t want to throw this in a drawer or hang it on a wall somewhere like most collectors. This knife will actually probably be used for its intended purpose.
