3:11 Hi Mollie, I watched both of your videos about Photomyne, and just started using it. I wanted to let you know that Photomyne now has a feature that allows you to scan entire pages of scrapbooks without cropping and separating each image! I have about a dozen old photo albums from my mother that she created using captions under photos and anecdotes that I didn’t want to lose. Photomyne has solved the issue that you struggled with in your previous videos. I’m sure your viewers and fans will appreciate this information! Thank you for providing such great information on preserving family photos!!

Hey Mollie! I’m 20 years old from India, Love the work you’re doing.
With your inspiration I’m very happy to share that me and my mom have successfully scanned ALL of our albums (early 1940s - 2006) which were over 12000 of printed photos including the pictures of my great great grandparents that too with my printer scanner and a Mac.
They all are now neatly organised in folders By decade, year and month and are safely backed up in 2 places ( SSD and Cloud).
I started scanning in November 2021 so it took 9 whole months to do everything.
I also digitised and backed up all of the Family VHS Tapes.
Now the only thing that’s left is to organise and backup my Digital Photos on DVDs from 2005 to 2012 and google photos from 2013 to present day so that i can have one big Digital home for all of my photos and family History so that i can easily share it with my family and relatives, but gosh it’s a mess!! I just have headaches and get anxious thinking about starting and completing it as there are over 2000 photos on more than 50 DVDs
Can you share any tips regarding Digital pictures on CDs and DVDs and about scratches and corrupted DVDs of Family Videos and also tips in general? And if possible a detailed video or a series about organising and tackling digital pictures and other media on DVDs, old hard-drives and old computers like the one you did of photo estate about analog and printed media would be of great help!
    Thanks!!!😄

Amruth! You are such an inspiration!! So excited for what you’ve done!! Let me think about the DVDs/CDs. These can be approached the same way as camera cards and USB cards…
I’m thinking of having a live program soon!

What quality or resolution is the scan? I wonder, because of possible printing or making books later on.
I have scanned a bunch so far, with my scanner and I am actually worried that I scanned them too high because of the fingerprints and marks and dust I didn't catch before, and just changes in the photo that don't look natural. Did I mess up?

    • @Pixologie
      @Pixologie  ปีที่แล้ว

Hi C King! There is not a resolution with Photomyne because the app is using your camera. The quality varies and I would recommend testing the app in on a few different photos to see what you think.
What resolution were you scanning at? And what kind of scanner? We usually recommend 600DPI.
      Let me know!
      Mollie

@@Pixologie Well on some of the very old photos i scanned at 1200 because i just thought go big so someone could edit it or enhance it for me. I also did it with some regular photos that i want to print larger. But it seems to make the photo look worse. I shouldve stuck to 600. I get so much conflicting info off the net. My goal is to print photo books and also print some wonderful photos bigger to frame. Good lord, then there is tif. people keep telling me to use tif but idk

Hi! Does Photomyne always correct the scanned photo and make it sharper? Is it an option to put this function of? Because I like the simplicity and realness of the old photos, I don't always want them to be corrected but just scanned. I'm asking because I'm thinking about purchasing it or not :) Thanks!

Hi Michelle - Under the settings, you can turn off automatic photo filter. But I have never tried that so am not sure how that will look. Thank you so much for watching! I'm always interested in chatting with people about their photo organizing challenges. If you are interested, I'd be happy to chat with you too, learn about your situation and see if there's anything we can do to help! Here's my calendar link: www.calendly.com/mollieb/pixplan. Cheers! Mollie, can I scan with Photomyne and then import the scans with metadata into Forever? Thanks for all you do.

Hi there… Depends on how you add the meta-data. I am not sure that it downloads with the photo from Photomyne… I will test it and let you know! Stay tuned!

Hi James - thanks for watching! Photomyne is a handy tool and works in a pinch. If you are concerned about quality of scanning, I would test it and see how you think the photo looks. And, be sure to save your scanned photos in folders on your computer. Hope this helps!
