We had a CX-30 for our first car in the US. It’s okay for a single person, but it’s just cramped. Wife complained of the window line making it claustrophobic, lots of blind spots and gives her headaches. She’s 5 foot flat. We did a 5 day trip around Arizona, and we realize even with the rear seat folded down we don’t have a lot of space to put our things in the car. Driving wise it’s very sporty and agile. Nothing flashy, but gives you confidence in driving around curves.
We have oned one since 2020 (2021 model) NA engine in Soul Crystal Red and it has been the best car! It's only 2 of us so the back space is never used and friends have never complained about it. I kind of see the CX-30 like a CX-5 "coupe" even though I hate calling anything without 2 doors coupes, but it is like the BMW X2 type vehicle. More sporty than spacious. Though I have hauled a lot of stuff from IKEA and worked just fine!! But Mazda makes a great product and I would definitely buy one again.
I agree with the shoulder space being confining. 1:27. Feels like my shoulders are being pushed forward. A big other than that, the seats are comfortable.
I lease a 2023 cx30 turbo premium. You are completely right about the annoying seat belt warning, the scratched up trim, and the 360 cameras being a must have feature that I should have got on mine, which has no parking sensors either. I think the brakes suck, braking at highway speeds is damn near terrifying. the tires are too narrow, it understeers at higher speeds like it’s on bicycle tires. The fuel tank is tiny, I’m always at the gas putting some odd amount of gas in the tank. I avg about 20mpg and less than 200mi of range. The motor is great, it’s super torquey you almost don’t need an 8 speed. It’s smooth and quiet for a turbo 4. Very quick, great fun to drive, nice cozy interior with a good infotainment it feels like a simpler i-drive system. dimensions are perfect for city parking and also it has a decent turning circle. It could use some more seat bolstering and a more solid door slam feeling. This car made me appreciate Mazda more as a brand, but because of the brakes I won’t keep it after the lease is up. My Mazda dealer was the opposite of a typical sleazy dealer which I’ve actually never seen before, I would consider a cx50 turbo or cx70 turbo if the lease cost is close to what I pay now at $340. Great review from you and the fam, take care.
Honestly, they could take all this Mazda goodness that I love so much and implement Honda levels of interior packaging and outward visibility, I would be so happy. Speaking as a current Mazda owner…
Would recommend checking out your local Mazda’s CERTIFIED PRE OWNED vehicles. Just picked up a 2024 Mazda CX30 Turbo Premium Plus with approx 4K miles for 9k under what MSRP is for a brand new one. After a bit of negotiating sticker along with a trade in and coming out of pocket for TT&L I walked out financing 26k for essentially a fully loaded CX30 with all the features including 256hp turbocharged engine and the Bose surround sound
Somehow families were able to fit a family of 4-6 in a sedan a few years ago but now even a perfectly sized smaller SUV is “too small” for people with a kid or 2. Are people secretly hauling around NBA players in their spare time? 🤨
Evie is right about the Taco Bell smell. I looked hard at the 2022 CX-30 before deciding to wait a while to move on from my current car. I would only want it with the Turbo engine. Testing a couple of different trims, at the time, the Premium Plus was really what I wanted, though I might have been able to settle for a Premium. The non-premium trims were missing too much in several areas. The car world of 2022 with its dealer markups on everything meant that my local Mazda monopoly was pushing the price on the rare Turbo Premium Plus to $40k. At that price, I'd have paid the extra for a Golf R. I likely will revisit the CX 30 in the future, though.
I'm confused about the seat belt warning complaint. You've mentioned it before on other Mazda products, but every car I drive does the seat belt alarm chime when you start the car. How is Mazda's different than, say, Honda's? Is it the chime itself that's extra annoying?
Great vehicle & I own one currently, but not the vehicle segment to purchase if aren't into smaller vehicles as a preference, need a lot of cargo space, or plan to seat adults in the rear seats. Should be a no-brainer to understand this, but many apparently don't. If you want/need more cargo/hauling space & rear seating comfort then buy the next segment up (such as a CX-5 or larger), instead of whining that the CX-30 is too small.
Excellent car, but there is a manufacturing defect in the screen when you connect CarPlay, and when you collide with a bump or a road damage, it cuts off and disconnects the connection with CarPlay.
I had to rewind to see the duck right before the Trim Recommendation because it went by so fast I thought I was seeing things. Like “did I just see a duck”?😂
The main thing is the dust, somehow it builds up quite fast in the glossy black plastic. And yes it scratches easily. I think brushed aluminum would have been better, might also produce less glare.
I have the ‘24 CX-30 2.5 S (which is the complete basic) and it’s perfect. Yes, there are a few things I’d change but overall I am so in love with my car.
for people considering a cx30 theres also the mazda3 hatch, it is a bit more fuel efficient otherwise pretty much identical to the cx30 since they share platform and are about the same size
Godfall at one is spot on, but play Detroit with a significant other or close friend and it's a ton of fun. Not sure I'd consider that one a sacrifice of game for gfx.
As Kiddo has gotten taller, getting in and out has gotten easier! To keep your reviews consistent, you'll have to stop feeding her :) "Sorry! No veggies today. We have standards to uphold!"
Yes, this ^^.... they really need to do something about that belt line. Too much of the Camaro effect going on there. Makes you wonder, does anybody beta test this stuff before final go-ahead for production? Not to stereotype, but especially if the design studio is in Japan it really is confounding. Electronic sensors and cameras notwithstanding, innate visibility is a big part of the safety (and enjoyment) equation.
High belt line, small windows and big ugly black plastic wheel arches (which has received much criticism from past reviewers). That seems to be the thing about Mazda ...... if they have a design that gets criticized, they stubbornly will not change the styling. Anyone remember the Mazda 3 when they went with the joker face restyle for the second generation 2008-2013? many people hated the look, but Mazda kept it for 5 years.
@@seve2190 Yep you are right don't know what I was looking at. SEEMED longer. Saw those ugly joker faced versions arriving around for years afterwards. It was a shame because the first gen hatchback was one of the best looking hatchbacks made in my opinion. Still looks good even today.
I've own the 2021 Turbo Premium model for almost 3 years. If anyone is interested on my take as an owner, lemme know. I'll try and put it in the format as Micah did
I test drove the CX-30..... and I liked-ed it....I liked-ed it 🤔 It was small and it handled great... it had a premium feel.....I took a pass on it but I can see its appeal.
I just got one 4 days ago. The very next monig, day after purchase, warning about faulty start button came up (had to set up service visit after I couldn't erase it myself). And today morning, I noticed that paint is pilling off of the drver side fender. I like the car, but it's certainly a bad way to start a new car ownership. I will talk at the dealership about the paint, but if they do nothing, I will just cover it with a touch-up paint for now (the spt is not large), but will give it to the body shop at the time that is more convenient for me.
I see Kiddo is still using a Booster car seat. I looked up how tall you must be to out grow the booster seat. I know People who worked for me that were retired age that were not 5’ tall. They were just under 5 feet tall. Would they need a Booster to legally drive or ride? 😂
Unless mazda stops making mazda 3 hatchback i dont see a point in 30. If u want a cross over get a cx5. If u want more sporty with room get a 3 hatchback. Wtf.
I have a 2 year old and a CX30. It's fine.

Right?? 😂👌

I love Mazdas, but the CX-30 is more for young people starting out on their own and not for a family car.
First world problems. Family of 4 in nissan versa all day long.
That's exactly me lol
Is everyone in your family 200lbs+? Lmao
My father have cx-30. Drove with mum and 2 grandchilderns (4&5 YO) to the wacation without problems with room. And they had quite a lot of luggage.
Best looking SUV on the market.

Bought this car for our daughter for college. It’s tiny inside. Definitely not a family truckster! 😂
Ive test driven the Mazda 3, basically the same car, and I totally agree!
Hey can i know if it consumes alot of fuel?

Your reviews always perk up my day. Love the CX-30, I'm so not a fan of that Sand colour. So boring. Thanks for another terrific review Muzios!

With some Honda vehicles you can trick the seatbelt to make the noise stop but with the CX30 you can’t and it won’t stop until someone buckles in.
@@LuhanKaiXanderwhich is a good safety feature imo.

Nice, that you can touch the screen instead of just messing with the NobbyJobby, couldn't resist it!
Best small family review on You tube.
The 2025 model is completely redesigned so I'm waiting for that! There'll be multiple color choices for inside the car

From the side profile, this car looks like an angry Daffy Duck.
Excellent review as always guys!
Look at Micah getting all techie with the AI images and audio. 🤓 Great channel!

Greatest car show on TH-cam non debatable 😂❤
First time watching this/your channel. Excellent, informative, and fun review!!

Thanks so much for the kind comment!

C'mon automakers, stop with the gloss black plastic already. Looks cheap, reflects sunlight, and shows fingerprints and dust.
The main thing is the dust, somehow it builds up quite fast in the glossy black plastic. And yes it scratches easily. I think brushed aluminum would have been better, might also produce less glare.
CX-30 still looks good…would be even better with the Miata’s 6spd manual.😃
It would be in my garage if they did that

What model are you testing? R you in Canada?
Get rid of the oversized flares and piano black interior. Then I would buy it. I miss the CX-3.
The carbon turbo is not new for 2024. It just used to have a different color scheme.....dark gray with red seats.

This is an extra small/ subcompact crossover SUV. Mazda CX5 has more leg room in the second row seats and more cargo room.
micah = awesome
Kiddo is definitely his dad's daughter. Same spirit.
I really liked the ending. 😂
I've always wanted to like this car but way too cramped feeling inside 🐍
The hood to car ratio is also strange

8:41 steping up your videos with AI now lol. Mazdas are decent little cars but I'd rather have a 2025 Toyota Camry at that price point.
100% right about the Taco Bell Smell!
I saw 3 days ago family with 3 kids getting out of this car.
Just import the Mazda6 wagon...
These look really good lowered.
That's just a mazda3 at that point lol
What about the Toyota Corolla Cross?
I only wish that this Carbon Turbo trim came in more colors than just baby puke brown
Unless mazda stops making mazda 3 hatchback i dont see a point in 30. If u want a cross over get a cx5. If u want more sporty with room get a 3 hatchback. Wtf.
“Elevated!”
I love this car. Unfortunately, in Europe, we get an asthmatic 2litre. Come on Mazda, give us this turbo unit.
How is a 2 L engine asthmatic?
@vikvc 118hp. Ford get more from a 1 litre 3 cylinder
They should offer that interior color in all exterior colors..can't stand that sand color with ugly black wheels
Looks a little small for the Muzio family, normally you drive larger.
A small family that is highly motivated? Wtf does that mean?
This is way too small for me. Even though I enjoy the single life.
Need one more kid to fill all seats
Switch Taco Bells.
I like the wife ❤❤
Well thanks for that. I like her too. :)

Obviously this isn’t a family car come one 😂
This is my least favorite car on the market because of the terrible visibility even to the sides.
These are tiny inside. So is the CX-5 for that matter
That kid is way too old for a car seat.
Quick answer, hell no. A civic hatchback is better.
How so?
Great car, I might get this when it gets a due redesign, hopefully less cladding lol
