    What do you do when you hang up an expensive bait from the bank? Ive been into this a bit and lure retrievers almost can't be used unless they're near the bank or you're high up. I'm debating on dropping down to 6" and under baits and spending 40 or less on a bait because I keep losing them. I go through 6 hudds before the beginning of summer. What do I do? Im afraid to fish my tiny klash

    Throwing a big swim bait is truly a commitment....knowing that only a few opportunities will happen, really my only suggestion would be to use the trolling motor as your aid to get them big ones pulled away from the docks and into open water!

  • @mike-gc4gz
    @mike-gc4gz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am new to big swimbait fishing but I’m a decent crank bait fisherman and I noticed when they come unbuttoned you’re rod is straight for a split second. I think you might have too stiff a rod and that’s why I use long fiberglass rods and keep them high and bent. I have lost fish while reaching for the net. Watch this in slow motion and you can see your rod is not bent enough when they get off.

    Slower gear ratio tranx or Calcutta b, I'm torn what should I get for an all around 4-8oz baits with a lot of 8" hudds in there

    • @crazybassfisher
      @crazybassfisher  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fish Boy personally for me, when it comes down to soft baits, I like the round reels the best but you can’t beat those tranxs these days!

    • @crazybassfisher
      @crazybassfisher  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fish Boy just depends on What reel you feel most comfortable fishing those style of baits. For me, I like low profile for glides and fast moving baits and with hudds and mags, I like the feel of the round reel in hand

    • @fishboy1270
      @fishboy1270 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      crazybassfisher yea I also feel like I could get a lot more power on hudd fish with the 400 b because I’ve been locked up on my cardiff 300 before with a hudd but from what I’ve heard the tranX is very powerful too. But I think a TranX would be a good all around reel too. If they had a 350 5.8:1 Calcutta my worries would be gone lol.

      James Wilson they dont work as well in texas as they do in lakes with trout as forage. Big bass rarely even eat big gizzard shad in texas, its more efficient for them to go after a school of 1 inch shad than risk choking on a bait

    Bummer! Not sure what is worse losing a big bass or a big expensive swim bait, both suck I guess! I'm going broke buying savage 3d trouts and Huddleston 68's.

  • @H8er-Maker
    @H8er-Maker 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Talk about adding insult to injury after losing your $100+/- swimbait to possibly a big fish that you rarely get to see your left to replace it. That's why I won't buy 1 that is more than $30. Mainly cuz our rip rap lake bottoms in AZ will likely claim it before a fish does. I don't own scuba gear. Good video buddy I'm sure our paths will cross sumday.

    • @crazybassfisher
      @crazybassfisher  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bruce Simmons Hahaha it’s a terrible feeling when the fish ends up taking your lure! These lakes here have claimed a lot of lures from those darn fish habitats!

    • @H8er-Maker
      @H8er-Maker 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crazybassfisher I bet the habitats at Roosevelt have a few thousand dollars in lures stuck to them. Those things must look X-mas trees down there. I've lost many lipless baits up there. Do you consistently throw swimbaits yr round? Slow it down in colder water temps?

    Ya man. Glad to know that kind of stuff doesn't happen to ONLY ME 🤣. But in the real man, at least the fish don't pop your line WITH the bait. Well I guess on ONE it did. But it could have been a 250, a Hinkle or an HPH AND a big fish 🤔. But ya man I definitely feel where you're coming from 😏
