To the rod breakers..when your snagged pull straight back keeping your pole straight..at the most you lose a lure

or just cut the line if that dont work, the lure is cheaper than the rod

In all my 40 years of fishing I have never struck on a fish so high and hard even when fishing for cats in Spain and I have never snapped a rod! The amount of force they put on their rods I’m surprised they don’t go through a couple every time they fish? I have 3lb tc carp rods at over £300 each and wouldn’t put them through that much stress and it’s cruel on the fish dragging them around and up banks etc. Poor fishing practices with expected poor results!

Also, you don’t need to set the hook that damn hard. It’s a sharp hook
Half of these rod breaks could have been avoided if they didn’t high stick the damn things. Impatience tends to lead to failure in fishing…
And some others if they made sure the line was weaker than the rod.
Mostly from reaching up the blank with other hand to apply MORE force , up where it's weaker.

I was ice fishing a few weeks back. Had a good size hole to sight fish. Putting bait on the hook my rod slipped into the hole and went straight to the bottom. Luckily I still had to hook tied to my line. I had to pull the line unspooling it all until I could pull my rod back up.
😂 I’m sad to say I dropped my phone down a 6in hole this year. Phone will always goes in my pocket from now on!
Had a buddy tip his kayak and lose 2 rods, my other buddy had a deep crank tied on so he caught 1 pole and gave it back for the guy to lose it again(really drunk) then he caught it again and kept it. I've found some rod floats at walmart that velcro onto the rod and as many small creeks as I fish rods go overboard all the time but they float right back to me now
Is ice fishing even that good of a time??? I fly fish and I’ve never tried ice fishing. Not saying anything bad about it just never tried it god knows fly fishing can make you look and feel like a fool sometimes to
@@alanluscombe8a553 I personally enjoy ice fishing very much. It's definitely got a different atmosphere then othere types of fishing. Little shanty towns have a community feel to them.
I love fish and being by the water so any fishing is fun to me. Biggest plus is winter has alot less to do so it's a good time of year for it and easy lake acess. Fish taste better through the ice too.

Yep, your medium rod turns into a ultralight rod when you grab it like that. Been fishing for 50 years, only rods Ive broken are the ones Ive stepped on.
Why are the setting hook so hard, are they using blunted hooks or something? A light little snap of the wrist is all it should take.

I bought an “ugly stick “ down in Florida while at a wedding. Determined to take it home it bent around the corners of my suitcase. Still using it today. Just be careful taking it out of the suitcase. Or just wear safety goggles.

I was fishing in the inter coastal with a thick salt water rod and heavy test line when some grabbed the bait and took off snapping my rod in half. Never saw what it was and I’ve brought in small sharks. 😮

When walking the plank, the most important thing is to have a nice, sturdy plank.
That one where the two guys handed rod back and forth.....and then the line snapped and he fell on his ass. I think he said something about let it break it. So he may have know it was a foul hooked salmon or something which in many places is illegal to keep.
