  • The families of the victims of the Lusikisiki massacre are still haunted by the tragic events that took place on the eve of their journey to a cleansing ceremony. As they prepare for a mass memorial service to be held on Sunday in Ngobozana village, outside Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape, the pain of their loss remains fresh. Newzroom Afrika’s Ntsiki Nohiya speaks to the King family, who lost their 21-year-old daughter, Ruth King.

The trauma of this devastating tragedy will NEVER be erased for the family members, so these news anchors and reporters saying that these family members are 'still' traumatized is really unrealistic and honestly downright disrespectful. Yes, it is a huge news story but dragging it and posing the same questions over and over again to the family members, for just filling in news slots is really not the way. Rather focus now on giving us more news about the murderers being brought to justice! It's the best you can do for the mourning family!
