After over a decade of living in the US, I’m still to get used to the fact that a 40yo building is considered historical in the US.

The Fantome 8 is amazingly contrasty and punchy but challenging.

Love the look of the Fantome 8. I’ve been looking for a new black and white film and I’ve run by this film several times , so thanks to this video I’m ordering this film right away.

Love the Fantome 8. Would totally use it for anything that wasn't moving, including portraits. The Babylon was less impressive to me. Nothing wrong with it, but if you had told me it was an ISO 100 film I would have believed you.

I love slow speed black and white films- I've been shooting Ilford's OrthoPlus 80 film @ 100 and just love it.

Months ago, I watched this video to convince myself to purchase the Fantome 8. Now I'm watching it for inspo. b/c I've shot 1/2 the roll. I've shot portraits & city scapes so far. You both created amazing art here!

I've been sitting on a roll of Fantome 8 for 2-3 years now and recently have been researching how other people are shooting it. Loved the video!

I came here cause I have Babylon in my camera and was looking for a review of Fantome (cause I saw some great photos online). I must say I'll be buying Fantome. It looks great. More contrasty and metalic, while Babylon has less contrast and can look a bit more flat and dull. I bought it for atmospheric landscapes though so it might be ok for that.

REALLY love that shot with the VW busses. I'm shooting Fantome 8 right now and this was really good inspo.

I have been shooting with older lower ISO film (generally under 10). I find it advantageous since I live in a sunny desert climate. Assuming it is sunny outside, I simply set the speeds between 40th and 60th of a second and an aperture of 2.8 to 4. My only misgiving at times is the graininess of the film. I did discover early on NOT to over process the film. I strictly stick to 3 minutes in Cinestill df96.

Recently bought some Fantome. From what I seen here, it definitely has a look which will lend well to certain scenes and setups. Awesome vid, thanks! 👍🏾

Interesting. I thought I was liking the higher contrast in the the Fantome but the Babylon image of the VWs at 6.20 has got something about it I like. Like a soft cinematic look? I think its there again at 7.17 with you holding the two tripods and at 7.48 I just bought some Babylon Kino 13, keen to try it for portraits. Great show.

Why use tripod etc to get sharp shots? Surely the point of ultra low speed film is to experiment with blur effects with longer shutter speeds?

Soo. Where are your yellow filters? I almost always use some grade of yellow filter when I'm out in the sun.

For a film as slow as that an abnormally long exposure is needed even with the diaphragm wide open . Why not the shutter speed shown?

Hi guys - Super cool video. Thanks. Just bought the Babylon 13 and the Rollei Blackbird ISO 19 - I look forward to try them - inspired by you. Cheers from Lasse - Denmark

The wide open shots at the end with the Nikon were sick.
The contrast of the Fantome 8 was lovely. I'd be curious to see what happens if you shot the 12 through you Nikon though, as to whether a lot of that contrast came down to the lens coatings etc. I say this as a Leica owner haha, so don't think I'm hating on them.

Which finder do you have on that F2. I know it isn't the DP-12 and if I had to guess I'd say DP-3. I'd shoot the ISO 8 for sure but then I also do pinhole photography too. Slow doesn't bother me at all.

Lomography- Selling old stock 50 ASA films stored for over a decade and calling it an ASA 13 film because of halide degradation at new film roll price because why not?

Like the fantome iso 8 film (Good contrast), don’t like the Babylon ISO 13 film. Shall try myself to take both out of my fridge…

That Fantome has some deep blacks and strong contrast. Wondering what the 13 would look like pushed +1. Might get the desired contrast.

I really like how the Fantome came out but every shot on a tripod sounds exhausting :/ Not really a fan of the Babylon.
