I agree, with the prices increasing, I would expect at least a gatefold. I need to see an extra effort being placed on these exclusives. My Buena Vista Social Club record came with a 20page booklet, exclusive variant, gatefold. It was perfect and less expensive than the1975 record that was in a simple sleeve.
Great Day! The record store here in Bakersfield, California, World Records opened at 0700. My son and I got there at 0630 and we were probably 25-30 people back. We were pretty stoked to still be able to get the copies we wanted. My son picked up the South Park and Paramore and I got the G Love, Chris Issak and Pearl Jam. RSD has been a fun tradition for my son and I since 2020, and this year didn't disappoint!
I got out at 2:30am I was 7th in line. The line in Rockford IL got up to about 200+ in line!! It was crazy. I was able to get all 11 I went for.. Great day!!!
This is the first RSD I attended in person in 4 years. The list was good enough for me to travel 2 hours to The In Groove. Once there, I waited in line for 2 hours but, because the owner ordered ample product, I got 9 out of 10 of the titles I was looking for. Here's what I picked up:

The only title they didn't have by the time I got in the store was the picture disc from AIR. If I had to miss out on one, that would be the one I'd choose. Great RSD experience.
Thank you for the pre RSD videos and info. It helped me out on 4/20. I was able to score the Ramones, Bowie, Sponge, Dazed & Confused, Up In Smoke, and PJ-Dark Matter on CD at Target for $17. Also Sisters of Mercy, Malfunkshun, Jim Croce, At the Drive-In, Jazz Dispensery, and Thin Lizzy for RSD.
I picked up Siouxsie and Banshees “Nocturne “ and The Best of the Didjits.
Grabbed the blessid union of souls release, as well as the Atlantis lullaby set by yusef lateef and the jazz dispensary collection.
Ordered the the mighty warriors and Tatum set this morning. Still need to find that Vince Guaraldi… hoping it sees a general release later this year.
Nice haul! That line of over 300 is incredible. It was a great list this year. I picked up a *crate* of records! Way too many to list here, but I did drop a video. Thanks for sharing your experience, I look forward to your next video!

I absolutely love Dearborn Music. I can easily spend a good part of a day in that place. Nice selection of vinyl and thanks for the video!
Cool video. I was able to get all 10 of the albums at a store in Ann Arbor, MI. I picked up two yardbirds, Rolling Stones, nat king Cole, sister Rosetta Tharp, the doors, howlin wolf, parliament, the who, and and 1963 blues festival. I got in line at quarter to 6 and got everything on my list.
Awesome! Which store did you go to? I went to Underground Sounds once for RSD and there were a ton of people there. I stood in line for about an hour after they opened but had to leave before I made it inside the store.
@@TheVinylDen I went to Underground Sounds. They're a pretty good store. Seemed like the line was at least 100 people at it's peak. I'd recommend checking out the store if you get a chance. It's smaller than the Dearborn store you went to, but still pretty good.
Jazz run this year. I grabbed the Charles Mingus, Bill Evans. and Yusef Lateef, but my store had the Gandalf so I couldn't resist grabbing that as well. Also got the Olivia Rodrigo/Noah Kahan single for my daughter. Great fun, we were about 20th in line and the turnout was as big as it was last year. Missed out on the Chris Isaak and Chet Baker but overall super fun morning with some great folks.
We picked up both Hives records, Duncan Sheik, the 300% Dynamite ska/reggae comp, and the mono Everybody Digs Bill Evans record from The Detroit Record Club in Royal Oak. Solid haul!

Great video, always fun to see everyone's hauls. I couldn't believe the lines at the two stores I went to either, I was wondering what albums were bringing out more people or maybe it's just more people getting into vinyl, not sure. I went out about 930 but ended up going back home and heading out again around 1130 because I didn't want to stand in the long lines. In the end, I picked up Chris Isaak, David Bowie, Willie Nelson 'Phases & Stages', The Replacements, Sisters of Mercy & the Nancy Sinatra but I did have to go to two stores. The 2nd store I hit at 4pm and they still had a line😮 which is ridiculous (and maybe a testament to how poorly they handled the crowd). In any event, I was happy for the stores to see the turnout and of course I love seeing so many people supporting their local record stores. It really ended up being a good list in my opinion. Enjoy all the great new records!

Cool haul there...i bought RSD titles in 2 parts...first on Sat afternoon, i got 7 & 1 online that no one got in at all, plus the Target Taylor TTPD on clear vinyl...Ramones, Elton John, Golden Earring, Parliament, Sparks/Noel, Dead or Alive & David Bowie, which i was bummed was on black vinyl, not coloured or splatter but I'll live & online i ordered the Dwight Yoakam CD box...and today, i went back for others i missed & bought 6...one i wanted but sold out was Tinted Windows, but the 6 i got were Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Sonic Youth, this cool & cheap funk comp Westbound Sound, Lowell George (again only black vinyl but only version), Paramore with the remixes & Cheech and Chong...want that More Dazed & Confused but i hit my budget & there were many copies left...that flick is important to me cuz this galpal from high school is an actress & she has a prominent role in that movie...

I went out and got the Pink Floyd Arnold Layne single! The live version which was Pink Floyd’s last performance and Richard Wright’s last performance. Also got Atom Heart on vinyl because I only had it on CD. Cloud Nine George Harrison was another one I got.
Wanted 7. Got 6. G Love, Mingus, Nat King Cole, Team Sleep, Notorious B.I.G., Ultramagnetic MCs. Missed out on Guaraldi. The G Love was my top priority. It's a fantastic album. Their first three are great, IMO. Will probably search out some of the RSD First jazz titles at next opp. I typically go for Jazz exclusives.
I’ll have to check out their other albums. I think all I’ve heard is just their debut.
Hey All. Two phase RSD for me. Lined up at 7am, about 13th in line. Looked like about 30-40 people total. Froze my vinyl loving butt off. They had 10 copies of the Tragically Hip. 3 left when I got inside 🎉. Record came with a super sweet TT mat. Pressure was off, at that point. So I swung home for a quick nap, then back out for round two. Ended up hitting four more stores. Great day overall. The Hip also released a cassette. Super limited only in Canada I believe. Mrs. B was sweet and found a reasonably priced copy on eBay. On the way.🍻

@@showdown2006 Hey. Started at Ross Records. Then a big drive to Niagara Falls. New shop Mrs B found, pre-game on line recon, Friday night. Daredevil Records. They had a super cool RSD poster. Stickman going over the fall in a barrel. Fantastic. Then to the “World Famous” Buzzy’s pizza, for a little lunch. Oh yea. Next was Ishy’s Records and Hot sauce outlet. Great owner, great prices. Then Record Vault. Old bank, very neat. Finished up at Revolver Records. We are lucky to have so many shops around. This was the first year I went out for RSD. Can’t wait until next year. How about you? What did you go after? 🍻
@@jimmyBside Ah ok sounds like you are roaming around upstate NY. I saw Niagara Falls and thought Canada :) I only went to 2 stores, PCV and Looney Tunes. Ordered everything else I wanted online from another store as it is too far from me. Overall it looks like I got everything I wanted but will say what many others said, there was nothing I had to have, if I missed out then it woulda been fine with me.
I waited until the next day and hit two of the stores nearest me and was able to get most of what I wanted. Most of the rest will be out on CD later on this year, so I’ll grab them then.
We are actually a bit north of you so we hit the Dearborn Music in Farmington, then Rock City, and finally Dearborn Music in Dearborn. I was looking for the Ann Wilson and Tripsitters and got it at the first stop. Everything else was a bonus. Glad you were able to get what you wanted!
I might make the drive up to Farmington for RSD next year. It’s about an hour from my house, so I don’t Kamal’s it out there very often.
I’ve waited in a RSD line for a few hours but never in the snow. I believe Amoeba are the ones that started the check list. The Ramones demos should be very good. They have been released on expanded CDs.
Panicked the owner by inquiring, "Where's the Black Sabbath release?" Turns out, the list I pulled up on my phone while in line at 4am was for the U.K. He was so happy he didn't miss out and I was bummed because I really wanted it. (I should've known something was wrong because I'd perused the list several times before that day and never saw "Paranoid"..... It just didn't occur to me that so many of the same albums listed for the U.S. would be on the U.K. list too, so it fooled me.)
I was about the 20th person in line until about 7:50am (store opened at 8am) when about thirty people came from the parking lot to stand in line with 'friends saving their place'; still managed to snag the very last "Rumours", plus the owner gave us free merch to apologize for no security to curtail the line cutting. Got the Pearl Jam, too :0) yay!
I arrived my record store at 4:30am and the line was exactly like your video. I was fortunate that I grabbed 10 Records all jazz and one filter album.
By the way, that up n smoke album, the song Mexican-Americans in it?
I was able to get everything I wanted which was Joe Pesci ( my most wanted one), Parliament, Buena Vista Social Club, and Penrose Showcase vol. 2, and I had to wait till today to order my last wanted record online which was The Westbound Sound. In my opinion a lot of people slept on the Joe Pesci record, and it's actually a great listen.
I couldn't find that one yesterday but did manage to purchase one online today from Plaid Room, can't wait to hear that one.
@@christi186 I was fortunate that everyone ahead of me didn't want the titles I was going for, so I supper excited to get it but I ordered another title this morning as well from Plaid Room because my local record store didn't have it

The factory that produced 70% of the world’s vinyl burned in 2020. It will be restored soon so prices of new vinyl will go down!

I ended up with Pearl Jam and Sisters of Mercy online this morning since I don't have any stores near me.
I think everyone SLEPT HARD on Dirty Heads this year. I'm not complaining though since I was able to grab 1 of each. Cheers!
Yeah, I didn’t hear many people talking about it before RSD, but I’ve seen quite a few people post-RSD posting pics of it on social media. So I think there are a lot of people that were happy that it few under the radar.
I don't mind a gatefold when they're good or a double/triple LP, but I think they're overdone and occupy too much space when it's a single LP. Can also be a headache with sleeves depending on thickness. I paid $46 for that Pearl Jam and I thought it was a double LP with that jacket. I would've been fine at $30 with less packaging.

The ones I really wanted I was able to get online day before or this morning, Piñata released on Bandcamp night before, and got Team Sleep and Gandalf this early morning online. In store, was able to get Parliament, Acid King, and daughter got Talking Heads Live and Kate Bush 7 inch. Not a bad haul overall
Had interest in only 1 - 2 albums, but no stores in my area had them so didn’t bother going to any stores yesterday.
The new PJ album on vinyl is so horribly compressed. Sounds awful. Such a mystery why they are so uninterested in producing good sounding records instead of useless color variants
I kept debating myself on getting it, but the price held me back. Picked up the CD instead for $17 at Target.
It’s also not a very good album, to my disappointment. The hype raised my hopes. Pearl Jam’s probably over, sadly. I’ll still go see them live if they come to Switzerland since my last PJ show was in the mid-90s (which was meh).
That RSD variant is sick looking, though.

Filter's first album Short Bus is worth owning and listening to. The rest of their stuff is somewhat mediocre. But that first album is solid!
After looking at their discography I’m pretty sure I’ve listened to their first two albums but nothing after that. I’ll definitely have to go back through their music.

😂😂I got to my record store at 3:30am and was about 40 or 50th in line for a 7am, opening. Got the Beatles Box set. It was the only one they had. Got the usual Ringo and John releases. A good RSD overall! Hope yours was as well. 😄

Nick, I am gutted mate. I could only make it to my local record store in the afternoon.... got there, and they had sold out of all records that were on my RSD wantlist !! I will try online but don't want to pay overinflated prices! Will see what happens mate and let you know
Oh man that sucks. I was really surprised by the amount of people in line this year, and how fast some of the titles sold out.
Totally down with that list system at your store you went with. Here as well as others it’s if you can grab it it’s yours. Not much this year. Just the Talking Heads live and the Dead box. I wanted the Gandalf and the SRC band but not available. I might go back for the Sponge. I have the first press of their debut. I believe the Alice In Chains debut is available as a repress. Tho I have the original, I saw it at my local Barnes and Nobel.
The list system just seems a lot more organized and less chaotic than the old way of doing RSD. My local record store processed and pulled all 300+ orders in about an hour.
I wanted the doors Gorillaz and parliament but I couldn’t make myself spend that much money on them. I ordered the blessed union of souls and that was my must have title.
Funny, I almost bought AIC's self-titled album too that day.
Since 2025 will be the 30th anniversary, I’m hoping we see it get reissued.

I passed on the Pearl Jam, looks great but just couldn't justify the price for a single lp. Rrp in Australia was equivalent to $75 usd, and if we're seeing these types of prices here it won't be long before you start getting them in the US.
I definitely get it. As good as it is, it’s very pricey for a 1LP release.
Alice always reissues albums so I don't think you make a bad decision putting it back.
I’m expecting it to get reissued next year.
BTW that G Love has a different cover art than the original.
Yeah, they used the original artwork from the CD, which I’m glad that they did because I’ve never liked the artwork from the original vinyl release.
