I have always felt Jonathan Kent’s death was hard for Superman because it’s easy to save someone from a falling building or stop some muggers but not saving someone from a natural cause of something that kills people everyday is the hardest.
That’s part of why Jonathan’s death in Man of Steel feels so contrived for many people, because Clark could have actually saved him from the tornado, and the only thing preventing him from doing so was his concern for the greater good.
In the age where everybody wants dark gritty and “realistic” adaptations comes this beautiful show. Love Henry cavil as Superman but Tyler Hoechlin is in my eyes the best Superman. Superman represents what people should aspire to be; good natured, kind hearted, compassionate and honest. There’s a reason he’s called the man of tomorrow and I believe this show is one of the best adaptations to show that
I also prefer a Clark Kent who is a little bit goofy but when he's Superman, he's not. A Clark Kent who acts like a Superman-hiding-in-a-human, as in he's still as serious or non-clumsy as Superman really is, is actually not that interesting.
"Eventually, I moved to Metropolis, to become who I was meant to be." Followed by "Here you are, friend." Those two lines, coupled with the orchestration in the background...I can't stop smiling.

Clark Kent is Superman because Clark Kent comes first and is where the personality and virtues of this character come from
This is so true. I also noticed in this clip that socially-awkward stream-of-thought style of speech when he met Lois that's reminiscent of Clark from the original Superman films; I think it makes him more endearing as a character. Really looking forward to watching this!
People always tend to think Superman is just this ultra strong, boring guy who just punches people in the face. They always forget he's not even the costumed hero: he is Clark Kent. A regular guy from Kansas, raised on a farm, with great abilities, but that only wants to do the right thing. The whole point of Superman is that he's not human, and yet, he's the most human of all.

One of the main issues I have with a lot of modern Superman content is some writers/directors try so hard to make Superman realistic or make his appearance cooler (I want those trunks back damn it!!) or make Superman seem edgier. Not only that, but the costume he wears is a reference to the 1940s max fleischer's Superman cartoon.
Yeah, I love that it's a reversal of that original comic. Instead of lifting a car full of gangsters into the air, he gently lowers a car full of innocent people to the ground. That tells you so much about this version of Superman. He's not a fighter; first and foremost, he's a rescuer.
They also used a PT Cruiser to give it the right mix of old and new.

Remember all those joyful, heartfelt, uplifting movies back in the day? I do.
Brandon did good too. "Hope is the light that lifts us out of darkness."
And his boy scout attitude perfectly captures superman and his ideals as a person rather than an alien
I also prefer a Clark Kent who is a little bit goofy but when he's Superman, he's not.
A Clark Kent who acts like a Superman-hiding-in-a-human, as in he's still as serious or non-clumsy as Superman really is, is actually not that interesting.
Leave the dark, gritty and realistic to batman. Superman is an immovable paragon of hope
"Eventually, I moved to Metropolis, to become who I was meant to be." Followed by "Here you are, friend." Those two lines, coupled with the orchestration in the background...I can't stop smiling.

I am not a fan of DC TV Series but I'm wondering if this series replaced another Superman series of 1 or 2 seasons with the same guy. I really remember another Superman series with him but I couldn't find anything. Is it maybe the Mandela effect?
@@armandoojeda3221 He played Superman in the Supergirl CW series, that's what you're thinking of. This is kind of a continuation of the same character (since the same actress played Lois in the Supergirl series as well). But I don't know if it's actually still in the Arrowverse or not?

Agree! He was kinda jolly when said that. Love it!
That's a Lois & Clark callback
That's Superman!
One of the main issues I have with a lot of modern Superman content is some writers/directors try so hard to make Superman realistic or make his appearance cooler (I want those trunks back damn it!!) or make Superman seem edgier. But that scene in his classic suit was spot on. Cheerful, friendly, down to Earth despite being an Alien, and honestly the "My Mom made it for me" represents all of that. It makes the most powerful hero on the planet seem so relatable and human that you forget he is an alien, and the fact he is so happy when someone compliments his mother's handiwork just says it all. In his first appearance, he instantly gives off a vibe that this is a man you can trust and rely on, that there really isn't a bad bone in his body. This is Superman, plus I really hope to see the retro suit again in some more flashbacks, it looks great!!
Tyler is the most wholesome and pure Superman out there. Can’t get enough of this show.
Christopher Reeve was better.
After watching a few episodes of Superman and Lois + the Donner films, I can say Tyler and Reeve are tied for best live action Superman (no disrespect to Routh or Cavill.)
Best opening scene to any Superman television show.
The homage to Christopher Reeve's Superman was brilliant.
what was the homage exactly?
@@gajaan316 Yeah, I would argue that his Clark was an homage to Reeve more than his Superman, if anything.

The goofy Clark Kent. That’s the one thing that I missed that they didn’t do with Cavil. Although I was a huge fan of him as Superman himself...I like this type of Kent better.
Yea i think Synder got Superman personality wrong and kinda rushed the Lois relationship. To me Cavill Superman should been similar to how the Russo's Captain America is personality wise.
To be fair we barely saw Cavill Kent at the Daily Planet at all, despite the ridiculous length of BvS.
i think Cavil plays a better Superman, but this dude plays a better Clark Kent
Snyder sucks at handling dc... He fucked it all up before it really got going.
Cavill didn't have enough of a Kent for that comparison.

@@blocpartyrocker it's really not. I mean do you even read Superman comics? Man of Steel is good in its own way and is an interesting take on the character, but it misses everything about classic Superman. That's why this show is the best portrayal we've had of Supes since Christopher Reeves
@@Iffmeister Christopher Reeve, George Reeves--two different people. Also, the quality of a comic book adaptation shouldn't be measured in how well it references said comic books. I appreciate the 'thanks, my mom made it for me' reference as much as the next nerd, but the adaptation should be able to stand on its own. HOWEVER I big recommend the DC animated universe if you haven't gotten the chance to see it. From justice league War forward, in my opinion they were really well put together. But one of my favorite out of comic portrayal of superman to date is from All Star Superman. It showed the same huge heart of you get to see when he dies to Doomsday. This is like a true continuation of Smallvilee. Tom Welling never wanted to wear the tights or have flight. So this works passing the torch to new actors.

Tyler is the real superman. he has that warm voice and kind smile. And obviously he is good-looking,
Sumerman needs to have a big heart. And Tyler makes it easy to fall in love with his sensitivity and strength
this is not on a different Earth, or different continuity. Crisis changed things so Clark and Lois have two teenage boys, instead of just one baby boy. Kara is not mentioned more than likely because they want to just focus on Superman's storylines. but outside of that it's already been confirmed by the showrunners that this exists in the same continuity as the rest of the Arrowverse.
I was wondering that... Clark's ship is different from the one that appears in Supergirl
@@anurb.s.c.anurb.s.c.2329 Yeah, it's just a post-crisis change, along with the many other major changes. The whole show is filled with massive ones. For one, they had an infant son during Crisis, yet somehow now have two teenage boys.
Which means Lois and Clark got married and had kids wayyy sooner than originally, or the show takes place into the future. The latter of which is probably less likely.
Another change is that Sam Lane is a new actor, and is aware of who Clark is, and not antagonist towards Superman. On Supergirl, he didn't know who she or Clark were, and he was pretty antagonistic towards aliens.
Though some things didn't change post-crisis, such as the Smallville farm set, and the suit with trunks on the outside, which got mentioned in a flashback episode of Supergirl a few years ago.
This is still the same character as before, just on a newly merged Earth, with a different history than before. I am surprised the show doesn't bring up at all the confusion he must have felt suddenly having teenage sons when he had a infant son pre-crisis.
AND THANK HEAVENS FOR THE POST CRISIS CHANGE!
It means the Pre Crisis Superman is trashed.
