Randomly remembered i saw tht the the vehicle possibly use brake shoes (i didnt know until i took off the wheels to chamge the shocks) came here to confirm tht it does and once again, superb vid.
Im used to the sring and retainer clip style for keeping the shoes on drum brakes. Those bent flat springs sith the nail pins were an absolute PITA to install whst a terrible design. Great video.
Did you miss a step of adjusting the pads to the rotors/drums?? Giving the wheel a hand spin to check for tightness of pads to the rotors/drum? Or do brakes self adjust??
+ukewarrior We don't have a how-to video for your vehicle right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Buy this part for your vehicle on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Good job but I would of put the on the parking brake shoe and parts before putting back on the new hubs and lubricated the points. Thanks for sharing anyway.
Hi I need to replace the parking brakes on the drivers side. it all exploded inside the rotor. Do the spring s and parts go the same way on drivers side or opposite of the passangers side???????
Lol I put the adjuster all the way on the bottom on the edges of the shoes…. Not where it’s supposed to be even I thought it was weird because nothing secured it in place 😅. The brakes are so small the hub covers it all so I couldn’t really see where it was supposed to go
I know they turn the camera off while you swear!!!
You’re a great mechanic, great work
I need hose pliers in my life lol

Good video. I’d point out the manufacturer requires the pads to be assembled dry - no grease on the slide hardware / pad ears interface.

Great video, thank you. But since you had removed the hub/bearing assembly, why not replace the shoes then. It would have been much easier. Cheers
Is this procedure still the same if you have a 4WD RAV4?

Thanks for vid ❤😂🎉
How do you know when you need to replace them?
When you can make your own drive-thru window whenever you want.
Can i change mine over there & how much will the service cost me ?
Wait, no lubricant for the pads rails....

My handbrake comes on but does not release the shoes when taken off. Is it a bad spring?

+justaguy34y It would be opposite.
Thank you

What year exactly this rav4 you working on?
+MarsInBako Thanks for watching! The Rav4 in this video was a 2010 model.
I could not push the springs to lock the pins. It is very tight. 2006 LEXUS lX470. IT IS NOT EASY AT ALL.
Thanks
FYI don't expect it to go this easy in real life on yours knees in your garage.
i would take off the hub,,it would be a lot more easy and you would see what you are doing!!!
The best way remove hub before replacement hand brake shoes ,,,
its an 8mm bolt to take rotor
But what pitch???
Nice
👍
Tomorrow I will do it 😢
He says going to put the hub back on, then puts on a brand new hub
Unless you prefer cursing, remove the hub first.
Bonjour
You could have cleaned the dirty parts

This is incorrect! This is not the set up for a 2005 RAV4.
I thought he said this is a 2010 RAV4. The video description needs to be corrected. At some year they went from rear drums to discs.
