- Have you ever wondered where TROLL games got their origin? Where did games like Syobon Action (Cat Mario) and I Wanna Be The Guy get their inspiration from? Well from the 5 minutes of research that I did, apparently THIS game, "The Big Adventure of Owata's Life" is the very first troll game to appear on the internet. How does it stack up all these years later? Let's find out!

Ik this is corny but I just genuinely wanna thank Dave for always being so wholesome and genuine. I remember one time he accidentally swore and didnt cut it out, and he had the most sincere heartfelt apology. He's genuinely such a great guy and I love escaping into this world. Just watched the whole completion of this game, the game it's nuts and actually pretty good.
It's technically metroidvania with a lot of trolls and unfair bosses.
I remember playing this when it came out and ragequitting after 20 minutes. That man has patience.
There is a fine line between patience and stubborn stupidity. Sometimes I'm not sure which side of the line I walk 🤣

Takeshi's Challenge is also a troll game, which wasn't a fan made passion project but a professionally developed and published Famicom game.
Apparently, you were supposed to not let that guy drink the E tank, get close and shoot him a bunch while he's drinking
This isn't a troll game, this is psychological torture.
I'm usually a non-believer but, for this particular mirror match I really was pulling for you to win. I'm actually quite genuinely sad he curb stomped you.
If you just waited a bit longer after each charged shot you may have beaten the boss. Looks like most of your deaths were from the 2 shots after the charged shot. The other attacks have really simple patterns so as long as you stay grounded and only jump when necessary you should beat the boss easy!
Random fun fact:
THIS GAME INSPIRED I WANNA BE THE GUY while it was still in BETA.
And its final area is a REFERENCE to IWBTG.
Rumor has it that Miyazaki played this game, making it the true inspiration of all of soulsborne and elden ring.
I Wanna Be The Guy came first. There is a callback to it in the NG+ when you beat the Owata game.
Yet it's cool but very hard to get
it wasn't "trolling" at the time, it was "deception"
And it still is "damashi" in Japanese to this day :).

@@TheRealRidley12 Damasu means to deceive, damashi is deception. It's used in a lot of SMM2 level titles, which is where I learnt the word.

I genuinely thought this game was a dream of mine at this point. I've seen it so many years ago but I could never remember what it was called.

The boss fight is probably a lot easier if you know the bosses from megaman 2...

the weirdest troll i came up with: the paranoia troll (or paranoid troll)
how it works is you label something clearly as a troll, and make the 1st part troll, but then everything after that point will not be trolls and will cause them a bit of paranoia or something, then on the last stage when they least expect it put a troll there
perfect troll for a friend you troll all the time
forgot to mention it is a version of the original paranoia troll made by some minecraft youtuber to troll a professional troll dodger by making them lose their minds by paranoia and stuff, but i made it less cold-hearted than the original

I went to watch a playthrough of this game and the person playing this game killed that boss by shooting front of him when he tried to drink that extra life (you have to face him when taking his last HP point and propably be close enough to hit him before he drink it). Who would thought :)
