- I cannot believe it, this has been a lifelong dream for me and I finally have done it, this was hard, really really hard, it's such a long attempt and there's so much stuff to die to really easily all throughout. Each death is really demotivating it's a huge hit in the gut and I'm not all that good at these long deathless challenges.
Impossible Mode means you must beat the entire game without any saves, this means 0 mistakes for the entire 35-40 minute run, which is brutal.
In this run I tried to avoid as many glitches/bugs/cheese I could to make it as purist of a run as possible which did also make it slightly harder, but no death glitch on the Vic Viper and no autofire, no skipping dracula's wine glass, no clipping through the wall on the elevator room. Many things like that. The hardest part of this run is definitely the entire Castlevania area, the medusa heads are hard to deal with on the original engine and Dracula is the hardest boss to consistently beat, which is why I did that route first to get it out of the way. I'm very lucky that I did not die to the guy castle thought, it very easily could have happened multiple times and made me spend way longer on this.
It's really satisfying to me to know that I did this finally 9 years after I first beat IWBTG, something my young self thought was quite literally impossible.

My next task will be to do the same thing, but now on the remaster, this should be easier a bit but it will still be difficult.

Wow, congratulations. You can now count yourself one of the few to complete Impossible mode! Truly a daunting achievement to go like 30+ minutes with no real mistakes, avoiding the jankiness of the engine and any cheese deaths possible.
Imagine not jumping into the mouth immiditely during the start of 2nd phase. What an absolute gaming legend

I also wanna say you narrating your thought process and order of operations during The Guy fight is amazing. I've seen some of this recently in other people grinding tough stuff and it's really neat to feel the mental process laid out in front of you.

Which probably has a 30% chance to crash per run if I recall from way back when I played this. Never even came close to attempting Impossible mode though.
@@alterworlds1629 nah it very rarely crashes on impossible mode, most crashes are upon death and you dont do that in impossible so
@@mastermaxify Ahh okay, that explains the experience so long ago with the game lol. Dying constantly. I imagine I could beat it with less than 200 deaths these days, but literally never beat Impossible mode.
@@mastermaxify It can also crash on the fakeout death after defeating the guy (the spikes). It happened to me multiple times when I was trying to beat it on hard mode for the 3rd time. It never happened to me before though, so maybe there was an issue with my computer that day.
I can't even imagine how stressful this is, HUGE GG's!

Shit, I replayed the beginning of the vid like 10 times haha.. it's amazing how i have the impression of seeing myself! I mean, I discovered this game in late 2012 and I finished it for the first time running 2013, literally just like you.
10 years later, I recently found back a big craze for this game of my childhood and damn, I never would have believed that a community was still active! An incredible number of fan games, a remastered version, still active speedrunners etc.

i think on the original game its between 10-15, if you count the remastered ones too it goes up to like maybe 20 but idk really, i cant find more than around 10 on the og game

Congratulations Max! I can't even fathom the experience, words cannot describe it. Having played the game and cleared it myself normally in hard difficulty (I think it was?), I remember having such a bad time with this game when compared to other fangames. Truly astonishing achievement. GG
