    ABOUT US:
    We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic. The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny.
    We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test - one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.

    Having travelled Vietnam South - North for 7 weeks then North - South for 6 weeks. I have to agree with you both that Ha Giang is the most scenic ride in Nam. It's nice to watch your vlogs and see what your both getting up too. Keep up the good work and safe journeys

    What are the two scooters that you are using ? You should use a hydration pack while riding...if you can freeze it the night before...cool on the back and as it defrost cold liquid at your disposal.

    “Tim’s idea. Never mine.” HA HA! Absolutely stunning drive, views and filming of the road! I can’t eat wheat either and before you mentioned you can’t either Fin, was thinking of asking you about wheat-free food options. Are you finding it easy or ??

    • @timandfin
      @timandfin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vietnam is a VERY easy place if you are gluten intolerant. Almost everything is rice-based including the noodles! Pho, Bun, Spring Rolls; all the best foods (except the Bahn Mi sandwich) are made from rice!

    You should use Google Translate.
    Just speak into the app and have it set to Vietnamese and it will speak the translation.
    You can then switch and it will translate from Vietnamese and speak the English translation.
    Nice video.

    So enjoying your 2-wheeled adventure! I'm certain it was covered in an earlier vid, but did you bring all your gear with you from home or purchase while there? Also, did you rent or buy the bikes once you landed?
    Cheers, and shiny side up, rubber side down ;)

    • @timandfin
      @timandfin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We brought all this gear from home (and lugged it around China, Macau and Korea!) but totally worth it. However, gear is getting easier and easier to find in the big cities of HCM and Hanoi. Going off of what we knew from 3 years ago (when less was available) that's why we decided to bring all of this. In a video coming in a few weeks we will walk through everything we're wearing. Bikes were purchased with a buy-back program through Tigit.

    The item you ordered to eat at Bắc Hà: Bánh Tráng (= Rice Cake) Nướng (=Grilled). Apparently, it's available in 3 types
    1. Bánh Phô Mai : Phô Mai is VIetnamese for cheese (taken from the French, fromage)
    2. Bánh Bò Viên: you know Bò is beef; Viên = ball (-shaped)
    3. Bánh Cá Viên: Cá is Fish (=> fish ball)
    Finally, sorry you had to use Google Translate. It's not worth a penny! I guess you already knew!
    BTW, how was that rice cake?

    Found your channel while researching for our trip to Vietnam. I’m trying to decide between our family staying on the outskirts of Sapa (several kilometers out) or Bac Ha. We want low key hikes and beautiful vistas. It looks like Sapa area has more beautiful views but Bac Ha has more remote village homes. Any thoughts or opinions on choosing between the two places?
