    ABOUT US:
We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic. The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny.
We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test - one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.

I just returned home in the Netherlands from Vietnam after an extensive travel on a bike. First I went to Ha Giang and did the loop-tour in 3 days. Then after returned to Hanoi I bought a Detech 110 CC and travelled south to HCM in 21 days. Ha Giang and Meo Vac have trully the most beautifull scenery in Vietnam.

@@timandfin I drove between 200 and 300 km a day ( 8am till about 4:15) on travel days from 1 place to the next destination like Cat Ba then to Tam Coc, then to Phong Nha etc. I must say that you mist an important place, the Flag Post far north. I heard you saying there must be something to return for. I give you a tip. When you are on top of the Flag Post and you look at the dam under construction, then turn 90 degr CC and you see a small village. Follow the white creamy concrete path to the village and between house 4 and 5 at your right side you can turn right between the houses. Follow the road for about 2 or 3 km till the end. There is a view post. Then lift your drone and let it fly down in and through the valley. Promisse me you show me your footage.

I was up there in July 1998. On an old Russian Minsk. I had to dodge the police most of the way. Saw a dead body float by in a river. No tourist books, internet or drones. Just a Pentax 1000 with two lens, a note book and a local map. Adventure travel when no one was watching!

WHERE IS THIS ROAD? (See Below) Loved this episode? Next one here: th-cam.com/video/iGzO_ncK8YU/w-d-xo.html
HAHA Ok now that this video is gaining traction and people are asking in the comments:
    WHERE IS THIS ROAD:
This road is between Bao Lac and Cao bang. I originally thought it was QL34, as you see is the marked way to travel via google maps.
I see now via Tim's "Fog of the World" tracking app we likely made a wrong turn out of town. This road is not listed on google maps. From Bao Lac there is another road to Cao Bang that is further north. The map coordinates of this particular stretch: (22.9264860, 105.7782236).
Modern day explorers from a simple directional mistake. Thought we were on QL34 the whole time.

OMG!! can't believe you ride motor bike to the remoted areas of VN. It seem a little too insane for majority Vnmese people. Look so much fun though... Road trip in north mountain VN, I gotta put that in my bucket list. It got to be fairly cold if Finny put on 3 layers; you guys went there in winter months? Those cool helmets you have, what brand are they? Did you get them in VN or US? What would you recommend to bring for the road trip? I saw wind breaker jacket, water resistant pants, gloves, helmet, waterproof shoes....!? How cold was it ? Was it In the low 40 degree F, plus high humidity and wind, chill !?

Travel though Vietnam, especially in these more rural regions is very inexpensive. We were booking the most expensive rooms at around $27-$34 USD/night. The pods you see in the beginning of this episode were only $8 USD per night! After taking the overnight bus from Hanoi you can find motorbikes for rent for about $6 USD. Gas costs maybe less than $2 USD per day traveling 75 KM and it is hard to spend more than $3 USD for a meal (including a drink)... it's typically more like $1.50 or $2 USD.
