    Hi Robin. Really good to see you return to Broads videos. The informal phone camera format works really well. I'm enjoying these so far.

    Gorgeous wild mooring! The kind I love (but my Mrs hates😂) . Great to see you and Sheila having fun on the broads again. Can’t wait until we go 21st September (Swan Rapture from Stalham). All the best guys, Si and Jen

      Why would she hate such tranquil and nice moorings?

    I’ve been on the lookout for you guys this last week whilst we’ve been on the Broads hoping our paths would cross but haven’t seen you, have you been out and about on the rivers this week? Another great video too!

      I’ve been down at Beccles for the Wooden Cruiser Show which was very much reduced in size and not open to the public this year because of the Coronavirus.

    The Sheerline looks great we saw you twice between the 13th to 15th July Between Barton Broad and How Hill and my wife now loves this boat as we recently acquired a new Shetland x Welsh collie and we called her Trixie i had forgot you had a boat with that name haha I have a question for you does the 740 fit under Potter Bridge? Happy Norfolk Broads Boating.

      Trixie was a bit of a cheeky and much loved cat we owned. Her mum would turn up to my house and we believed was a stray. We put a collar on only for her to return without it. We put another on and wrote “is this your cat?” On it. Next day she returned with “Yes. kittens available at No.10”. We popped down to the house further along my road and collected a kitten we named Trixie. It was sweet when her mum came to visit our home, the bond was still strong. She was over 16 when she passed and so the Sheerline being small and cute the name seemed to fit perfectly.
      The claimed airdraft of the Sheerline 740AC is 6’6” but I am not sure if mine with the spotlight is indeed this low. Built in 1992 by George Smith & Son she was taken down to the Thames for some of her life before returning to Norfolk. I don’t have much documents to show her history but did meet the owner (previous to who I bought her off) who provided me with some spare keys and told me some of the things he had done to her. In my ownership she has had significant modifications with all sea cocks changed to lever operated types so you can easily shut them and see if open or closed, new water strainer and inlet, three domestic batteries with separate cranking battery along with an inverter and re-wire internally. New lighting, new seating cushions, new canopy and vinyl colour band (previously painted) new water pump and accumulator, new shower drain pump and shower mixer tap, removal of old fixed TV aerial along with a full compound of the hull and topsides. Window seals restored and new wiper motors fitted.

      I am indeed which is why it all might now make sense why such a big impractical sea boat on the Broads - cos living on her is without compromise. Oh how once people questioned my thinking I’m buying her originally. All was a plan 👍

    Have we taken a step back in time with a 480p video Robin?

      All I can do these days. Filmed on my phone and could not export in HD has not for enough room without deleting Apps so exported at 480p as was that or nothing.

    That was fun, really enjoyed that, took my mind of things so thank you very much.
    Would you say its quieter than normal? l drove up to Burgh Castle from Essex sunday before last & saw two moored up by the windmill & a broken down ranger boat & that was it.
    The pub at St Olaves was very busy but no boats moored there.
    May l ask, do you have any tips for making those thin foam mattresses more comfortable?
    l went home 2 days early last time as l hardly slept.

      @TheCaptainsBlog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s been busier than I expected actually but of course this is the northern rivers. Southern rivers have been always quieter as less boats seem to want to make the journey south and more seem to go for short breaks than full weeks. So far as the beds - no tips about the foam mattresses. I rather like them being firm myself but you could have tried a duvet under the bed sheet to have given some more softness?

    Robin Sheila is right when she corrected you by telling you that you can no longer say him, her, man or woman as in what you said helmsman, helmswoman, as its now helmsperson, so well done Sheila, another great vlog though and great to see you both back onboard and on the rivers,

    • @TheCaptainsBlog
      @TheCaptainsBlog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can say him or her or man or woman or she or he because that’s my preference. I’d consider changing such for someone who asked me to refer to them as something else out of respect for them personally but not as a general rule.
