Hi from Mayfield, that night was horrifying to say the least, we were huddled in a closet getting updates on both phones during it, every report that came in was more devastating than the last, it was maybe a few blocks from us and we could hear feel the rumble and crumbling of our town , we praise God we didn’t get hit but I’ll tell ya the heartbreak of seeing the destruction the next morning still is as real today as when it happened. Streets I drove every day are unrecognizable. It went on through other towns Dawson springs and we hurt for them too, Its something I’ll never forget. Now every threat of bad storms puts a knot in our stomach. Take care guys , God Bless.

I live around 15 miles outside Mayfield, and we luckily didn't suffer any property damage, but we still got the crap scared out of us. We lost power for a whole week, but right before it went out I heard the news say 120mph winds on my road. Was enough to push my car back in my driveway nearly a foot. I had to borrow a generator to keep oxygen machines going for my elderly relatives and got sick going out in the cold every couple hours to gas it up. I didn't even really have much time to process what had happened and see town in the daylight until the power was restored to my area. Thank you for documenting the current state of things. I can't help but notice we have 3 new police departments while the rest of town is still being torn down, one of which appears to be a new construction, dunno if they started on that before the tornado or not.

This our home town. Horrible night, one we will never forget. We were lucky, our home and business were spared, barely, missed our home by yards. Ironically in your video at 17:36, 5 years earlier a much less powerful tornado went right thru that spot, well documented with videos of that one as well.

My husband was in the candle factory when it collapsed. Luckily he made it out rather quick. But that night was still the scariest of my life. I was huddled in the bathtub with my 3 year old, who didn't really understand what was happening. It's hard to drive around and see this city still looking like it was just hit by the tornado. So sad..

Was down there for a week to help myself at Christmas time. Fema had eveyone in the tornado zone handcuffed .
Bad situation in Mayfield with broken gas lines and electric lines down all over downtown.
But power poles and lines were up .And the old wires are on the ground. Trees by the curbs.
Doing step one , but the next steps weren't getting done

I know it was quite unbelievable and extremely horrifying for Mayfield that it was completely gone estimates said that the Tornado that hit Mayfield was at least a mile wide. The National Weather Service in Paducah Kentucky issued a Rare Tornado Emergency which is the absolute highest Tornado Warning Level that exists and that’s when I found out that Mayfield suffered catastrophic damage by an EF4 Tornado that was really close to being an EF5 but was 10mph short than 200mph They measured The Tornadoes Wind Speeds of 190mph before Mayfield was impacted.

I remember seeing images the day after in disbelief, the amount of destruction that took place in multiple towns that night was honestly unfathomable. It's crazy to see what used to be commercial buildings and housings, just empty lots and slabs. A town's center which took nearly 200 years of building, destroyed in under 5 minutes. I'm hoping Mayfield bounces back to what it was before.

You should see what happened to Rolling Fork, Mississippi on March 24th, 2023 when it got hit by an EF4 Tornado the same exact way that same EF4 Tornado hit Mayfield, KY on December 10th, 2021. They're both basically considered ground zero towns because of all the damage those tornadoes done to both Mayfield and Rolling Fork! There's hardly anything left 😢

Just look at what’s still standing with zero to minimal damage, brick buildings/houses. In Tornado areas imo every house should be brick, you’re much safer even during a pretty strong Tornado. Houses are built with such cheap materials now days, and trailers forget about it. The devastation is really sad, praying for all those affected 🙏

This tornado is literally "An Act of God"; that's even how it reads on insurance policies. God never makes mistakes in His perfect wisdom and love, so the people of Mayfield better get straight with The Almighty before another, more powerful tornado is sent. Praise! Glory!!
