I just finished doing your last directions and I finally got my cute 1997 Holiday Serenade Cardinal Christmas ornament working. I brought it at a goodwill for $2.99, I looked it up online, it goes from $8- $36. Once again Thank you much .
I have a Locutus of Borg ornament I'm trying to get to work. I tried changing out the base as you suggest at the end, but when I plug into the new string it just buzzes. The yellow light does light up. I suspect the newer string uses a different voltage that doesn't work with the keepsake ornament. Thanks for a great video though!
I've found several old light sets at local thrift stores. They're putting out all of the holiday stuff now. I bought a couple of old light strings for $1 or $1.50 each.
Using older style incandescent lights is literally what these ornaments are designed for and you can still buy them pretty much anywhere lights are sold. The legacy cord is meant to be a way to power the older ornaments when using them on a tree with LED. lights. You also fail to mention that there is a limit to the number of ornaments you can safely plug into a single string of lights. I believe Hallmark recommends 3 per string, although I suspect most of us push that limit.
This "idea" is pretty much the way Hallmark intended their older "light string" connected ornaments to be put onto a tree. What I want to find is an adapter that will connect to the current Keepsake Power Cord (with the tiny 1/16"-3mm phone plugs) to a socket that the older ornaments will plug into. Maybe I should invent one. I could be rich! It should be a crime for Hallmark to completely change how its "Magic" ornaments are powered every three or four years.
You are right that there are so many ornaments that cannot be used. I have suggested this method to power up your keepsake ornaments at a reasonable cost. Hallmark did have a special power cord for these ornaments that is no longer produced. You can find them for sale on eBay for about $200 - The Hallmark Legacy Cord.
Getting an old light string that won’t go with any of the other tree lights isn’t a fix. Also swapping out the plug part on a new string doesn’t always work either. 🤷🏻
You are correct. I have not found another way to use these ornaments. The Hallmark Legacy Power Cords are just too expensive and they do the same thing - only powering the Keepsake ornaments and nothing else. Do you have any ideas that I could try? Still looking for better solutions.
You’re a hero
That last tip may well have saved me a lot of work this year. Thanks!

My old light set burned out, I just added them to tree. I’m on a hunt for an old light set.

I have 3 of the Hallmark Keepsake ornaments. I haven’t tried more than that on one string. Good tip and thank you.
