    COMPONENTS - Fabulous! I have zero complaints here. The storage, the tokens, the cards, the wonderful roll-out map. It's all pretty awesome :)

    This is great -- it confirms that I've playing the Prince correctly :-). A couple comments:
    17:47 - I believe you should have used the Elders action to gain the secret, since it wouldn't cost any supply. You could then have used the secret to gain more favor from the Nomads.
    23:05 - Assuming you're playing the Prince in the "Limited" (basic, easy) way, they don't use battle plans that require discarding cards (unlike Bandits), so they wouldn't play the Rain Boots

  • @southernfriedgamenight4304
    @southernfriedgamenight4304 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome play through dude- this was a huge help to me!
    Couple notes- you mention at some point that you can’t take the darkest secret from the prince because there were no cards at his site however this apparently has been changed and you can take it even if there are no cards at the site or if the player has no advisers.
    Secondly I was a bit confused on the chart as to why you moved up when it said “battle ready” because it doesn’t look like an arrow but I eventually caught how that worked.
    Great stuff!

    • @OneStopCoopShop

      Thanks for the clarification on the secret card, and glad it was helpful!

    • @ripjammer
      @ripjammer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The only change in the errata is that you can take it if they have no advisers. There still needs to be at least 1 denizen at their site.
      The easiest way for me to wrap my head around it and remember it is to imagine that any denizens at sites are nosy and untrustworthy when it comes to the darkest secret… so they will discover the secret and help you or anybody else take it. UNLESS all those denizens have friends in the court (advisers) of the secret holder, in which case they won’t betray their friends.

    Thanks for the video! Well done. I got to playtest this a few times. Like a COIN game Oath needs 4 people to shine and I was disappointed that once again they made solo play only as a two player experience. I get making solo rules for this game had to be really hard, so I'm glad they tried. hopefully someone else improves on the system.

    Thanks for the playthrough! Great as always :3
    Companion app (or anything) to play against more than one opponent a la Scythe would be preferred for me. Oath is a game of creating a chronicle of the world as generations pass, and there's not a lot of story to create between just two sides. I don't know if I would want more flow charts for each opponent, but I'd still prefer that than just having only one AI opponent for a game that plays best with 3-5 players. Thoughts?

    • @Ozasuke
      @Ozasuke 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh! I suppose the same flow chart could work with a token for each AI on the flowchart board. Then it's just a matter of having an AI board for each Exile opponent. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s where my thoughts went (multiple tokens at different spots of the same flowchart).
      But first, for me, they would have to make the non-chancellor AI better. It’s a bit rough at this point.

  • @Stewiekev
    @Stewiekev 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great demo of the solo mode.
    Question, not sure if I missed something.
    At 14:42, did you forget to take a favor from the Nomad bank after playing Rain Boots? Or is there a different rule when playing from a facedown advisor?

    • @OneStopCoopShop

    @DooDooDaddyTV 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    wow the mind map for the AI is really clever. Can't wait to open my copy of this game. It'll be tough to get a couple of people to play this with me but at least the solo mode looks fun enough

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, and I'm hoping variants take the slickness of the mind map and make it work better for exile automa and multiple players.

  • @MickRissling
    @MickRissling 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    At 11:25 the mind token was in a Conspirators section so should not have played the friend Beast
    Also, when they have unaligned faction during step 2, I think they break ties by faction placement on their player board, not the ones drawn. They are tie breaking faction, not cards at that point

  • @alexandresarazin4721
    @alexandresarazin4721 ปีที่แล้ว

    6:10 Correct me if I'm wrong but I see two revealed site cards in the Hinterlands. In the Chronicle rules, it says to reveal the top most site card of a region only if there is no other face up site cards in them (I think). In your case, the Standing Stones are already revealed because of the ruined edifice. So shouldn't the Lush Coast be face down at the start of the game ?

    At 22:00 you went directly up to the move/campaign action. That wasn’t connected to the start spot on the Clockwork mind. What informed you that was the spot to go to? I had thought the action token only moves along the arrow paths

    • @OneStopCoopShop

    10:23 "when they play a card or discard it, they gain one favor" - I think this is wrong. If the Clockwork Prince discards a card, the Prince only gains the "can't play" benefits - and with favor gained (to Ambition) only if these benefits include gaining favor.

      @@OneStopCoopShop That describes how you get the favor if that's shown in the Can't Play Card box. Instead of getting one favor on every discarded card.
      "Gain one favor from the favor bank matching the played card."
      "If you cannot play this card to any site, discard it and gain what is shown in the Can't Play Card box of your Mind quadrant. Gain favor from the bank matching the discarded card and add it to your Ambition box. The shield advances your tactics marker."

  • @DadGotGamez
    @DadGotGamez 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    During your trade action around 17:50, you spent one secret to obtain two favor, then you immediately spent those two coins to gain one secret. Net gain = nothing. Was there a strategic reason for it? I know in multiplayer it can be to keep others from being able to use those cards, but what about for solo play?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You are forgetting that spent favor goes back to the supply, but secrets come back to your board each round. So my net gain was 1 permanent secret for the rest of the game (unless I burned it).

    I know this video is three years old by now but if you can play solo with essentially two players one being AI the other human why couldnt you just play this at two human without the AI?
    I assumed it wouldnt be fun but you looked to be having plenty of fun at two and you problems with it were mainly that the AI especially as an exile isnt a human who would make smarter plays.
    I had a three player game going but the person who is the current chancellor lives further away but the other is over frequently for Board game nights so i might have him and i do a game with clockwork as chancellor and once they are dethroned maybe drop to just two and give it a shot
