To be fair this game was in development for more than 10 years and a lot of songs from the n64 proto carried over but considering the love theme leitmotif was created in the final few months it’s still very impressive nonetheless
Some of these are a bit ridiculous, The Attic's a Dungeon doesn't sound like that Squarepusher song at all, and even if it did that song came out 5 months after Mother 3. Intense Guys shares like 2 notes with Halloween and goes in a completely different direction, it's a stretch that would snap a rubber band. Somewhere, Someway is literally 4 notes, if you squint then maybe it kinda sounds like Strawberry Fields if you've never heard Strawberry Fields before. The way that music is referenced in Mother 3 is much more direct. A lot of the songs are the exact same notes and rhythm, nearly verbatim. Family Matters is just a medley of classical songs, if Shogo Sakai wanted to reference these songs he would have probably just put them in note for note, Thomas' Bazaar is another great example of this.
The Beatles and classical music ones are probably real because we know Itoi loved the Beatles and classical music. The other ones, some are a stretch and some other are similar but they don't sound like a reference

The TH-camr Moon Channel had a video about the most likely reason why Mother 3 wouldn't release outside Japan and within that many musical references they talked about are being shown here. They couldn't show the music directly because it would cause their video to be demonetized, though it's educational in tone, not necessarily an entertainment channel. Law is a common topic of this channel. Basically, a lawyer talking about law while commentating about a topic and situation, such as, Minecraft's EULA change, for example.
At 13:27 you reference the Halloween sound track but have a picture of the Friday the 13th sound track. The Halloween theme was composed and performed by the Director and co-writer of the movie John Carpenter if i'm not mistaken.

To me, this is clearly the reason why Mother 3 hasn't been localized. As good as these songs are, they clearly skirt the line between parody and copying.
It isn't that, actually. That's not how copyright law works. Truthfully, the only reason the game was never localized was purely business-sensical. It wasn't feasible to localize a 2006, late-stage GBA sequel to an underselling SNES game. And it isn't feasible to dish out money for a brand new localization and translation 20 years after the fact. Fact of the matter is, there isn't anything within the game itself that would bar it from being translated and released. It's the not controversial, copyright law-evading game people make it out to be.
Truth is, fans often don't know the reason why the game wasn't released. So they come up with their own reasons and hold them as gospel. Take Doom, for example. That game straight plagiarized many popular rock and metal songs, but it's still being re-released to this day. Sometimes people make arguments about the game's content, but it's nothing that wouldn't bump it up to an E10+ or T rating at most. Translating and localizing Mother 3 in an official sense to release outside of Japan is just not seen as a financially feasible option for Nintendo.
To this day, I am still impressed that Shogo Sakai composed over 200 songs by himself.

I think “the attic’s a dungeon?” Is a callback the “if you were a woman and I was a man” riff used in “Bein Friends” from Mother 1.
