With Carol Burnett started her show she wanted this as her beginning instead of the usual production number . She kept the thanking her cast at the end of the show as Moore did on his show . This part of her code as is the Tarzan yell or the ear tug to her grandma .

Wonder what Carol did with all of her beautiful costumes and outfits that Bob Mackey designed for her??? She had to have an enormous closet lol!!! What a great group of comedians on her show!!! Just straight up hilarious!!! Loved watching them when I was a kid at home and still do today lol.
I remember there was a tv interview with her in whuch she was asked about the costumes and she said she kept them all and rented a few to other actresses to wear naming a couple names if my memory is accurate. The designer was absolutely one with fabulous vision and extraordinary ideas. He was way beyond his time.

Both Sid Caesar and Ella Fitzgerald were from my home town in Yonkers, NY. My uncle remembers giving Ella nickles and dimes for singing on the corner of School St. and my grandfather probably sold wholesale produce from his wearhouse to Sid Caesar's father's restaurant on South Broadway.
Isn't that the truth!!! Now a days a person can't say or do anything without some peon hollering discrimination or bigotry. Nothing can be done in fun like they use to. I honestly believe most act this way just because they can and not for any real motive.
I really like Carol Burnett I watched her when I was a kid she's funny they had good writers she's very talented and I loved her on some of her Cameo appearances on the new Hawaii Five-O she's a Class Act and I like the fact that they had different costumes and she had excellent guest.
There was a musicians' strike in 1968, so the chorus sang Carol's Theme to close out the show. Subsequent episodes largely had Harry Zimmerman's (later Peter Matz's) orchestra close out the show.
11:00 - There were a few musicians strikes during the run of the show. There was another one a few years after this and they actually had the dancers on the show (and maybe some other hired folks?) come in and sing unaccompanied, including the tune to the show's theme song at the beginning and end.
Harvey's makeup reminds me of Lady Elaine in Mr. Roger's neighborhood (except for the voice, of course)! And yes, I think Harvey had better legs than Fred Rogers. 😆
I like these early pre-'72 shows, with Carol's original face...maybe it was just the makeup, I don't know. But she had sharp rubbery features which made for great comedy that seemed to have softened after '72.
As Carol was trying to lip-sync to the music, they did everything except play the song backwards... which, if they did, would've been hilarious to watch! =XD
