40 years later this is still a stellar jamm! I bought this when it 1st came out at the clubs, I was young, grateful & dancing my trippy head off! Love to all.
a disco track that pushed every boundary !, they dont make music like they used to ! nothing now could compare to the tracks and work put into this back in 1979.
Unless you were in the clubs dancing your asses off, no one will realise the importance of music like this .It defined gay dance anthems and makes me know that not all disco music was bad . Songs like this and many more ( too many to mention ) will live on forever . ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
First time I heard this was in The Limelight Discotheque in Montreal in 1980, in those days it was in the gay district, most of my friends were gay males. I was a true Faghag!
Fast enough trance disco jam. Like the 655 vocal femme interlude, very unforgettable. All very danceable. Sparkling and innovative disco mix. Gave Katmandu (The Break) a big run for the money. Great tempo, melodious continuity. Thanks Tantra, J. Koppers & crew. Yes! Fantastic unforgettable Euro mix. Vive les disco freaks...
The first ever Trance tune. Yes, Trance started as a genre in 1990, but truly it was Hills Of Katmandu that took clubbers on a journey into trance all the way back in 1979.
I was around 18/19, i danced my ass off on this track, there was also another track around that time ,John Fararra, Love Attack, allthough that was not trance, it has the same high energy level as most trance tracks.
Danced to this in Portland Oregon with Girl Friend at club Embers in early 1981.......I've been looking for the song ever since.....Darn good musicianship here.
Goodness! It is 5:48 am, and I just wish I had a dance partner! Sooo, that leaves me with dancing with myself. Actually, I'm dancing with my Ms. Chloe. My cat. I love this song! That moment at 14:20 when it progresses from 4 minutes of utterly hypnotic interstellar disco back to the vocal refrain is mesmerising - like coming off the biggest helter skelter and finding yourself in a sugary sweet paradise... I wish I'd been there when people were dancing to this!!

“Come with me
Where your spirit and your mind are free.
We can fly above the sky
In Katmandu
Peace of mind
We're gonna find in Katmandu
Smoke-scented breeze fills the trees
And you drift away.
Slowly downstream
In a dream that goes on and on
On forever!
Soft winds and sunsets
That lead at some mystery
Sweet-smelling substances
Liberate fantasy.
Smoke-scented breeze fills the trees
And you drift away.
Slowly downstream
In a dream that goes on and on
On forever!
Sweet-smelling substances
Liberate fantasy
We're together”
