And think of all the extra content that could be added, driver voice-lines, courses and characters. Shame this game is probably tangled in a mess of copyright dispute.
This is my dream right here - I hope someday either the original developers of this game either recreate or remaster this game, or give the rights to another company to allow them to try and make a game as great as this was.

So it's 2022 now we have had every cod and halo game and all the others that have been remastered while little gems like this game sit in the distant corners of our memories and TH-cam vidz

I would actually do this thing where I would finish around 5th/6th overall in score at the end to unlock the other upgrades, like the gold wheels etc. I actually thought it looked better than the 1st position upgrades you would get. I'm not sure if alot of people actually knew you could do this either.
This game (and DD1 AND 2) had such great characters behind the wheels of the cars. I think that's what really set it apart from other games, and still does.
I think if you got second place you got the black wheels. The black wheels looked so bad ass on most cars. I'd get mad whenever I finished first cause I dint like the first place body kit.

i loved this game when i was a kid but ALWAYS sucked at it so ive never finished the championship with any character before. my childhood copy of this game is still in my possession but its scratched beyond repair so recently after MechaPWNing my PS2 i grabbed an ISO of it and burned it off to a DVD-R and ive been playing it again and finally giving the championship mode its true playthrough now that im a 22 year old adult haha. lots of nostalgia and memories flooding back.

Few ps2 games get re-released on ps4 outside of games that were either first-party Sony games or ones developed / published by companies like Rockstar, SNK, Square Enix and Capcom. This is mostly the reason I bought an original model ps2 earlier this year after not having owned one since the mid-2000's. Because most of the games I enjoyed playing were either not incredibly successful, were made by a company that no longer exists, or had assets in them where the copyright to them has long since expired... any combination of those 3 examples is pretty much a death sentence to ever seeing the game getting re-released on a current console. I think your best bet for playing games like this again (other than emulation, obviously) is to get the original game, if possible.

Another glory-age franchise shut down by shitics who never actually play the games they review, and it shows. This was by far the best game in the DD series and I played DD1 - DDA. Apparently something to do with the pause menu was so serious this game was 'the worst in the series'. Smh. Vehicular combat beats dime-a-dozen FPS for me everytime. I recommend the new Carmageddon, Max Damage if you liked this. There's a lot of similarities. (Power-ups, Quirky/Deranged Drivers who hate each other, Organized vehicular deathmatch, Good damage model and more)
