    Thanks for the close up of the auxiliary air valve. I am restoring a 1978 924 and realized my air valve is missing. A previous owner used two bolts to plug the rubber hoses that connect to the air valve. Still a long way off to starting the car.

      Thanks for the comment and support doug. Great to hear you are bringing back and early 924 too 👍, the AARs can come up for sale on ebay now and again so worth a look out. Good luck with your car 🤞

      Thanks, Donal, I appreciate the comment and nice to hear the vids are helping out. I'm well excited to get the car back on the road and testing out all of this work. I'm even thinking now what might be my next project for 2021 start, a sucker for punishment comes to mind haha. thanks for the support and hope the work on your 924 is going well too.

      I'm a sucker for looking at cars that need work as well and giving them another chance - there's a great feeling in saving a car and giving it another chance ! I wouldn't just dive in yet to another car - enjoy the fruits of your labour and let another one find you !! My missus has a 1 car at a time rule which keeps me in check 🤣

    Just in time for the salt ladened roads lol.
    Must be a great feeling seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

      Tell me about it DG, typical for the UK. I'm hoping for a mild winter with lots of sunny cold days and no rain. A huge amount of hope on that I know :)

    What are your revs at cold start? That AAV doesn’t look like its opening fully at cold? If you take it off the car and apply 12 volts to it after about three mins the disc should close. When it’s fully open it allows more air to bypass the throttle butterflies and thus increase the revs, as it starts to close the revs should come back down.

      @Witty924  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks Chris that's great detail and supports my thinking. I have a spare which I will do that test on and clean up. Do you know if these things come apart as a serviceable item ?

    • @chrismadge7292
      @chrismadge7292 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Witty924 no they aren’t designed to come apart unfortunately, but with care you probably could get one apart by grinding off the ends of the pins that hold it together. Looks like you can get new ones for £140 on eBay :0. Ouch!

    • @chrismadge7292
      @chrismadge7292 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Witty924 watching your video at 4:12 your AAV looks like it’s stuck in the normal hot running position and not opening up when it’s cold. I’m guessing someone before you has squirted some oil in there to try and free it up, hence the oil seeping out of the bottom.

      @Witty924  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrismadge7292 ouch indeed on the price. I will have a look at the spare this week and see if that test works on it. If so will fit that one to the car. Will help to have one in working order on the car for winter 🤞

    At 8:12 what screw are you adjusting and what does that do? My 924 has a the screw removed and a crappy closed off hose in its place. Also is it just a generic screw I could buy at a hardware store to replace?

    • @Witty924
      @Witty924  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So this is the idle adjustment screw. If you are experiencing low revs or high revs once your engine is warm you can use this screw to adjust the idle rev speed on tick over. I set mine for 900 rpm so it sits between the 1000rpm and 800rpm. Hope that helps you out William 👍
