Your explanations and demonstrations of the 3:0, 3:1, and 4:1 were the eureka moments for me to learn them. Those ctrl walk steps in the 3:0 were especially helpful for me to stay in the 4t rhythm. I got a few deathless solo kc today thanks to your vid. Much appreciated!
I watched a lot of olm guides and this is one of the best ones. Very chill and and it brings up the mage step past tile in a great way which made it click for me. The mele hand is also covered well - I liked how you pointed out the missing attack to pay attention to without going into the semi complicated olm attack cycle. Will watch more vids from you for sure!
Ty for taking time to put this sort of video together , been struggling to solo , was trying to do 3:1 and 4:1 but never knew about 1:0 method. Will try this now and then off to 3:1 and so on !
Thanks for putting this together. Been raiding cox and decided to try solo. Was wondering why I was going through full invs of brews. Had mates explain at times, but this video covers it all well. Cheers
dude this was such a good in depth solo guide. you explain things very well.
Not really related to the Olm but I was vibing with the windwaker music throughout the video🤣 great guide this helped me a lot during trailblazer doing Olm for the first time I appreciate the time you took to make this video and I'm surprised you don't have more views on this for how much work was put into making it. Earned my like and sub. Thanks!
dude this is exactly what I was looking for!!! perfect explanation
I tried all the other youtube videos and they didnt click for me. Your video saved me, i've finally nailed it. Thanks
Thanks for the guide. I prefer these “watch the gameplay while I talk over it” as opposed to the high edited videos. Where it’s just a bunch of still photos and diagrams lol
Synq guide is really good but I think I caught on to how you explained it better Preciate the guide
Conveniently, I've wanted to start learning solo cox recently great video dude thank you subbed and liked
The full kill is really helpfull. I am doing better at olm already after just watching and listening to your commentary!
Nice explanations! Found out where I've been messing up:
- Running instead of walking to far right tile on 3:0
- Tanking two hits instead of one on 4:1/not side stepping when you out or cycle
26:40 has been by far the most helpful part for timing
I tried my first solo yesterday. 3/27/23 made it to olm, but I was so overwhelmed I forgot everything I learned from all the videos I've seen. I saw your whole video, and honestly, it's helped me a lot. I will be attempting my first kc EVER this evening! Wish me luck 👍🏽
Good luck, dude! It definitely takes time and my first kcs were rough but each one will get easier.
very good tips on setting the 4:1 on melee hand! thank you
Need to watch this again. First time through i could only vibe to the music 😄👌
thanks man, love the effort put in. Some people want shorter guides but I think this was as short as it could be while teaching perfectly
Very good explanations and easy to understand. This will help me alot!
Olm is hands down the most rage inducing thing I’ve tried to learn in this game. This guide is insanely well done and I actually feel like I understand it now. Definitely going to watch this before I solo olm again next off day I have.
I find verzik a lot more rage inducing than olm. Especially since no one wants to do TOB on eu worlds. Olm can be a pain in the ass when he wants to tho
@@quinnivia I've not even tried TOB yet because I was wanting to get good at cox before even attempting anything else
@@rocco_ow819 tob is easier to learn if you have a group that will run with you. The problem is that the tob community is so fucking elitist that unless ur 4K kc minimum ur not worth taking even in a learner raid
@@quinnivia nobody is talking about TOB teams, we are talking about solo olm.
As a dude who grinded learning solos it's not worth it. Just do duos and trios. Solo is bullshit.
Will I be able to use it for a year... no. Will I watch it anyway? yes 😂
Very well explained, and dkc music. Best video ever.
By far the best solo olm guide on yt
i know this is like 9 months later but im struggling hard on leagues so this is super helpful
Thank you for this!
Good video, thanks man.
Nice video!
Amazing video man, thank u. Subbed
Love the Wind waker music from zelda, but good guide explaining everything keep at it man
Thank you man
Very nice guide thank you
just got my first solo kc thanks to your guide :)
appreciate brodie
Did my first kill, messed up everything, but rewatching it now makes a lot more sense. I should do the p3 practice kills you mention
One thing: the Trident can't be on long range. I have it on long range by default, because there generally is no reason not to. So this confused my first attempt greatly, since my dude didn't do the same thing
Yep, definitely have to be off long range. I should have mentioned that. Gl with the learning!
I understood everything fairly well, and I’m sure I’ll forget the moment I get into olm lol
lmao i just did a 1.5 hour cox kc :') it felt like everything i learned watching this video completely went blank when i started, i consumed like 35 brews over 4-5 deaths god damn LOL
Yep, my first solo kc was similar so I remember how it is lol. If you keep practicing it should get a bit easier each time though
Finally a guide that explains the methods understandable without overcomplicating. I have been looking into solo CoX for a while (did 30 kc duo with a friend). Thanks to your guide tonight i finally did my first solo - died only once ;) Thanks
Damn following this long video with ADHD is not easy. By the time i reach the end of the video i forgot what you said at the first half of the video xD
thanks for guide. dropping a comment for the algo
If im trying to get into 4:1 and a spec happens same time as auto, how do i know which came first?
The spec will often happen at the same time as an attack and you just treat it as if a spec came out. So you'll want to attack the tick right after he does the spec, then attack 2 more times for a total of 3 before running to the left.
I cant figure out how to get the timing lined up, anyone got any tips
At 41:39 you talk about walking for the last 3 tiles which helps with your timing of mage hand running. How are you walking those 3 tiles? Your run is on and you aren't clicking each invidual tile so how are you making your character walk? Cheers mate
There's actually an option in the game's settings that lets you hold control to alternate whether you're running or walking, so I just hold ctrl when I click to walk.
@FCASandChill thanks mate. Got a fucking dex on my second ever solo! It was absolute chaos, forgot my staminas and everything but clutched it for the rigour on my iron which is so nice
You mentioned that in mage hand you need to step to 4th tile if you splash, but you usually just keep doing 1 2 3 tiles even if you splash. On what Tile you need to splash to know that you need to move to 4th tile?
How are you walking when you still have run activated? Are you holding a certain button with a runelite plugin for example?
It's actually in the main game settings, not Runelight. If you go to all settings and click the 'Controls' tab, there's an option called "Ctrl+click to invert run mode". If you put it on always then if you hold ctrl when you move, it'll do the opposite of whatever run/walk style you have selected.
For doing mage hand with a shadow and just doing 2 0 do I attack once per side and ignore the attack that would happen on the thumb tile ?
If i'm not comfortable with shift walking and would rather run to the right in 3:0 do I have to wait a tick on the thumb tile before attacking mage hand?
Yep, if you run to the right you'll have to wait a tick before attacking the mage hand. If you do it early you'll get hit.
Hey what plugin do you use to display not only your points and time but also unique percentage?
It's either the "Chambers of Xeric" or the "Raid Points Overlay" plugin. I have both turned on.
Did u get infernal cape before or after learning solo cox?
I actually got my first infernal cape on my main way before I ever did any solo CoX. The skill sets for inferno and CoX are pretty different so you definitely don't need to learn one before the other. FYI, I do eventually plan on making an inferno guide for beginners - hopefully soon after I get tbow on my ironman.
Someone please explain to me how to predict when head is about to turn :)
I don't understand why nobody (watched like 6 guides) speaks about what to do when you inevitably fuck up the cycle. I've done 1:0 succesfully for a while but only by accident, i don't understand how you are supposed enter the cycle/predict the head turning.
like say i'm at melee tile and olm is looking right at me, i then run to the tile below the head. how am i supposed to know when to attack the hand (1:0)? I'm supposed to click 1 tick before olm turns to me, right? how do i know when he is going to turn?
my guess is that i'm maybe supposed to wait 1 tick on the tile i ran to and then run? just to enter the cycle, once i'm in it i know to click as soon as my character is on the tile.
Thank you!
edit: like say i just got portaled to narnia, how do i get back in 1:0? what's my cue to start running back and forth
He explains that it's a 4 tick cycle. Count the tiles your character moves, your true tile is updated once per tick, and on the 4th tick his head should turn. If the head turns too early or too late, your timing is off and you should wait a little longer or move a little earlier. If the head turns to the middle when it's supposed to turn to the sides, you're in the wrong spot and need to stand further away.
Could you do one for shadow?
I’m struggling hard on 4:1 mele hand
Love the video but dear god I wish ur example wasn't instantly getting into 4:1 every time. Wanted to see you fix it because thats what I struggle with. Consider uploading a few more kill videos to capture those moments.
Sigh I suppose I should learn this
Just tried it, that was the worst experience i've had with any boss. You make this look so easy its not even funny
Yeah, olm is a big step up in difficulty from most of the other content in the game, but if you learn how to deal with his attacks, turning the head, and the mage/melee hands it becomes a lot more doable. I've spent hundreds of hours doing solo cox now and believe me, it was super rough in the beginning.
EZ subscribe
A couple inaccuracies (for example, melee hand can't go into healing phase after mage hand dies on 3rd phase, blue pools arent 1t unless it's the final tick) but great intro to the content otherwise
yellow.. ball?
thats green.
200 solo cawks
Are you aware that your 4:1 movement pattern makes it so a flame wall destroys the cycle?
Yep, this video is pretty old at this point and on my tbow grind I learned a lot more stuff about olm lol
best solo olm guide out there no doubt
I repeatedly died to the flame wall before ever even being close to in cycle and the final phase wasn't covered in any depth so I died 4x and lost any points I had left. Average.
Thank you for actually explaining the mechanics in a video isntead of just explaining the tiles to run on. Hol-ee. Duo guide at some point? :P
Very good
So refreshing. The first of many guides I've watched where the creator can actually form sentences and explain what's going on + replays clips. ty ty ty
Yeah people that are good at rs are often not too articulate lol
