AKAI MPC ONE | ONE MINUTE JAM #1

Just a short little clip from my Instagram jamming on a sample on the #mpcone. It's so fun to layer a sample with drums and base while trying to come up with a pattern that feels right.

Josh i am looking for a really good drum machine like the MPC one, do you think i could also hook up my Akai mini MK12 keyboard to it and play the bass sounds and some of the synth sounds. Or would you say its a bit of an overkill for a solo looper. I saw you use it in your video i chatted to you about the others day. 👌

Hey Wallace I remember our conversation. That’s a solid option. If drums are an important part of your set up it’s really worth investing in. That being said have you considered using an iPad as a sound module with your Akai mini? That’s another very good option and cheaper if you have an iPad.

How do u make your beats? I really don't like the drum kits and try to make the melody first then add the drums, hi hats etc. Also I have the MPC One what wires do I need to sample from the phone, tv, etc?

On the MPC One I make almost all sample based beats. I start with sample first then add drums. I have a lot of vinyl but also sample from movies, TH-cam and wherever. If you don’t like the stock drums you could sample and chop up breaks. I have a lot of drums I bought from mpcsamples.com. Dirty Drummer is a good one. I use a 1/8 inch stereo to two 1/4 mono cable.
