the essence of Metallica is their first album "kill em all" their best album unquestionably. It's the album I listened to almost 40 years ago and it's the one I've listened to the most in my life. Today I discovered a band "Lovebites" heavy, power, thrash, metal. An all-female band from the Japanese scene. And I must say that some of their titles have the color, Metallica. A band that deserves special attention for those who are open-minded. Search on you tube and listen to "break the wall", "The hammer of wrath", "Set the world on fire" (a killer), "thunder vengeance" (live) the opening of the concert.
This is Metallica's Magnum Opus; it's not my favorite song by them per se, but it's probably their best song. It's a culmination of everything you want from a metal song, like you said. Highly recommend you take a listen to The Four Horsemen by them as well. It's like the baby version of Master of Puppets in that it's fast paced and loud but has a melodic section right in the middle of it. Personally I prefer Four Horsemen but it's a tough call.
I always toss up between this and Holy Wars by Megadeth. Generally I do prefer Holy Wars more mainly just because of Dave Mustaine's insane solo near the end. But both bands are metal royalty and deserve all the respect
@@andjustjizzforall Fair enough! I'm not a fan of Mustaine's voice, generally speaking, but I do agree that _Holy Wars_ is a foundational and fundamentally important heavy metal song. 🤘😁
The slow part is after the drug takes effect. Then it slowly it wears off as the song builds again, leading to the one verse that's from the point of view of the junkie, where he accuses the drug of lies.
Let's see, Moscow 1991 enter sandman and creeping death! S&M no leaf clover, or any song from that show. Disposable heroes, dyers eve, blackened, through the never, the God that failed, ONE, they have so many epic songs with 🔥🔥🔥 lyrics and deep meaning
Please do: Metallica; -The Four Horsemen -Disposable Heroes -Welcome Home (Sanitarium) -Creeping Death -Orion (instrumental) W.A.S.P. - Wild Child The Last Command Cries in the Night Megadeth; My Last Words (you definitely need to pull up the words for this one) Ronnie James DIO; Holy Diver Rainbow in the Dark Children of the Sea Metal Church; Watch the Children Pray Gods of Wrath Burial at Sea Iron Maiden; Wasted Years Stranger in a Strange Land Run to the Hills Krokus; Screaming in the Night *Be sure to pull up the lyrics with each one. Metal is a form of lyrical art that is best appreciated when you analyze and understand the meaning of each song. IMO it’s best to start with studio versions, as some live versions are messed with by the bands and if you aren’t familiar with the song or it’s meaning, it can loose some of its ability to convey its true meaning/definition of the song when it’s done more casually in a live setting. Just a thought.. Best of luck in your metal journey!
It’s a song about drug addiction, the “Master” being the drugs controling you
Right on! So many people seem to miss the meaning of the song... It adds alot.
a tip: you can watch movies at Flixzone. Been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Dallas Mayson Yea, been watching on flixzone for months myself =)
Actual musicians playing real guitars and drums this is talent! With a message!

The Four Horsemen and Harvester of Sorrow are mine but it does change every few years.
Harvester, Fade, Master, and Horsemen are a 4 way tie.
I always say that I think _Master of Puppets_ is the best overall heavy metal song. 🤘😁
