Hey everyone! My apologies for the audio issues when the camera is facing away from me; I'm still working on my workflows with the front facing stereo microphones. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the outdoors with me.
Every time I watch you filter water I worry that you are applying a little too much pressure when you squeeze. It bothered me enough to go to Sawyers website , where I read that they do warn that too much pressure can damage or diminish the filtering capability. Obviously you've lived till this point but I wanted to say something anyway. Much respect for what you've accomplished and many thanks for putting it in such a watchable format.
That looked like a scarlet tanager on that branch. Very cool. Never seen one in the wild. Thanks for preaching on leashes. I met a mom with an autistic child who was terrified of dogs on trail. The kid panicked from 30 feet away when he saw my dogs. We were able to back up off the trail and let them pass. Can't imagine what would have happened if my goofy dog went up to him. Poor kid, glad we were leashed up.
Since I was out backpacking with my wife on the Loyalsock-Link Loop from Worlds End State Park the weekend that you were finishing the Loyalsock Trail thru-hike, we almost crossed paths with you. You did get my car in your video. Nice to see Gary on your hike. I enjoyed your hike in the Dolly Sods with him.
Hey Bill and Nancy! I meet you guys that weekend on my first solo backpacking trip, it was great meeting you guys and getting to chat. It was also great meeting you Jason and thanks for the picture and laughs. It was really neat running back into you two(Bill and Nancy) again and telling you how I met Frozen and got a pic. I love getting out on trail and meeting like minded people, and all you guys made for a great first solo and memories…
Wowwie wow the editing and visuals add ons, love it!! I hear ya there’s a trail I run that’s a “dog” trail and there’s always that one dog that comes at me and the owner is like “oh he/she won’t harm you!” Bad dog parents!
Frozen, I'm so glad you finally did the LT! I'm doing this as my first thru hike this fall! I first saw Backpacking Adventure's video on it and hopped over to your channel to see if you'd filmed it. Can't wait to watch this!
Another awesome video. As a former Pennsyltuckian from north central Pa. I can't get enough videos from my home state and I have seen most of yours. You even got me into a Darien so thanks!
Was up at Wayah Bald a couple of weeks ago. Perfect morning. Nobody there except me and my husband. Had one of those mornings of feeling amazingly insignificant. Thought about ya! Great video of your hike...again!
Great to see you out on the trail again and in a hammock! Thanks for the comments about dogs on leashs, I too am a dog lover, but can't stand to see them off leash especially in the woods too many tempations! Now 2 suggestions for your bidet, 1) one, add a separate bottle for bidet use, 2) Portawipes, compressed toweletts!
I agree 100% on the keep your dog on a leash statement. It seems like it’s getting bad in PA. You’re right, there is no argument. And awesome video! My hubby and I have been trying to visit every PA state park and can’t wait to do Worlds End.
If you need a shorter hike in the same area, the Loyalsock Link Loop is also and amazing hike. If you go when it's warm, make a detour to the Haystacks for some swimming and relaxation! Oh, and I loved that Chai Tea latte packet, but I love Dirty Chai already
It is awesome to see you shorts and miles to go back on the trail The loyalsock trail is definitely a very beautiful trail and it looks like you three are having a fantastic four day three night trip with rain Again excellent video keep up the great work
Thank you Frozen for giving me yet another hiking destination to do in Pennsylvania. You're the reason I drove from the state of Indiana to hike Minister Creek. Now, I think I'll just make the plans to return and do a portion of this trail! Keep the videos coming!
It’s been a while since a nice hour long video of yours! It’s nice to hear that classic Outdoor Adventures intro music! Great relaxing video for a Sunday morning, really enjoyed it! 👌🏼👍🏼🤘🏼
South Hills guy here, checking in. I did this in 3 nights last year right about the time you were on the OLP. It was Hot then too! Awesome tough trail. Could have done without the rattlesnakes.
Awesome video!! from rattlesnakes to wandering dogs you have it all here plus Shorts!! nice hiking and tons of great waterfalls and views thanks so much for taking us along!
Your videos have been a big inspiration for me to get out and plan a trip. Got out a couple weeks ago and hiked the dolly sods and had a great time. Keep doing what you do and inspiring people.
Dogs hike on leashes, Yes! My son nearly cracked his head open on a rock once when he was three. A big boxer pup knocked him over. It was rather traumatic as my husband had hiked ahead out of hearing range, my son was scared and crying but I couldn't pick him up because I had to hold the dog off of him for ten plus minutes until the owner finally showed up. You never know who you will encounter on the trail! Thanks for evoking other good memories though as we have visited World's End before. I was watching thinking that waterfall looks familiar, and then the fenced overlooks. It 's a really cool park!
I am happy you enjoyed the trail. It’s very near and dear to me. Also, thanks for giving it a chance with your AT (and then some) credentials. Happy trails.
Thanks for the tour. I'm a native from PA. now living in Oregon for the past 22 yrs. Really enjoyed seeing the Eastern woods again. That rattlesnake was a real hog. Fortunately in all my years hiking the only poisonous snake I came across was a 12" copperhead. I'm looking forward to checking out your other videos.
Very enjoyable! You looked like you had a lot of fun out there. I like the scenery but I enjoy watching the stuff you do in camp. I would have liked to scene the mini adjustments you made the first night on your hammock hang. And the bidet is interesting hmmm. Gonna have to look into that. So thanks for that video I really enjoyed it.
Great video Frozen. I knew you would love all the water features. And the look on your face when you drank the coffee was not quite as bad as when you tasted Tog's vegimite. Lol It was great to see Gary again. But it always seem to rain when you two hike together. 😁
Great video, thank you for sharing! That chai coffee didn't sound good at all and by your reaction, I'm guessing it wasn't very good. Again, thanks for sharing! -dave
Its easier to find a hammock spot than a tent site and i agree, the hammock is better in the rain. Tent is better in the wind. I have a nemo tendor and had a BA AXL. The AXL was better than my bed at home. The tensor is a little stiff for me. The AXL has leak issues. I hope they resolve it so i can trust one. Good video
Hey Frozen, it was awesome to run into you on the trail after watching so many of your videos. Thanks again for all of the great content you put out. I have used many of your videos to help plan some adventures of my own. I am also from Pittsburgh so I appreciate you shedding light on many of the amazing places in our backyard. My race didn't go as planned and I ended up dropping out at mile 36. It was a hot day and a brutal trail! Thanks again for all that you do, and I hope our paths will cross again.
My Buddies and I hiked the LT a couple of summers ago. Beautiful trail. Hated how the trail went straight up the hills. it also kinda kicked our ass. Currently doing a painting of the falls, by the ladder.
@@FrozensAdventures My mistake, I actually meant LoyalSock Trail, not long Trail. I really like the looks of the Loyalsock trail because it seems VERY few people hike it. Just a long drive for me from my home in Va.
I wonder if Darn Tough would sponsor you if you tattooed their logo on your foot? LOL! I don't know why I thought of it except for seeing you take your socks off to dry your feet.
I live in the same area as Jason and I always said we should run a pipeline to the drought areas. We get rain in Pa constantly. It's very beautiful and green though
Have to sympathize with the runner there, if I randomly saw you on the trail in the middle of a 100k, I would just assume I was hallucinating too. Great video!
Loved the video! I have the Alpine Club's trail guide, so I knew it's a little tough on the elevation in some parts, but actually seeing an experienced hiker's first hand take on it was so informative. I think I picked the right trail, can't wait to get out there!
Those taped markers are called “dragon tails”. The Loyalsock has several trail races that use part or most of course. The Eastern States 100 will be using it soon.
Great video as usual. Looking forward to hopefully doing this trail in the fall. That's some serious devotion to Leave No Trace scaling down that rock for the tried and true rocket pure! Glad you guys had a nice trip!
Everyone likes to see buddy on trail! That’ll make your day!😁 Some buddies of mine and I were camped at speck pond and up on the slope above speck pond was a barking dog that started barking around 830, after we had had a few cocktails. The three of them went hiking up the trail with headlamps yo see if they could find it but no luck. It was brutal listening to that that night. We woke ip the next morning and hiked the notch and back gor a second night and no dog so hopefully all was well. That’s one thing, besides bears at night, that terrifies me about possibly solo backpacking. You seem like alls good in the world. I prefer you use the hammock! 😃 Its hard for me to wrap my head around you with a tent, i gotta tell ya! Great watch man!
Awesome trip video!! Looks like you guys had a good time. So the bidet thing still has me intrigued, but I have no clue how to use them. I go hiking and camping with my family all the time! I would love to try hammock this summer! Let me know! Thanks for the dedication you put into all your videos !!!! Praises and keep on truckin !!!!!
It’s all good my brother. Just thought I ask I truly respect your decision and I definitely don’t blame you. That would be sweet idea to hang it like a memorabilia!!!
I have the exact opposite question. Lol or statement. I like that u switched to a tent sometimes because as I've mentioned before I follow you closely and have gained a lot of backpacking and hammock camping knowledge from your insight/videos. One of the main reasons I use a Hammock, besides the pure comfort of course, is I'm literally scared that I won't find flat or adequate ground space each night for my tent. Do you have any suggestions on how to get over that fear, and how do you plan differently when you backpack with a tent compared to your hammock, in terms of miles and camp location planning? Great video btw. This LT is going to be my first thru hike this spring.
I enjoy my time out adventuring much more if I don't plan so much. All of my recent trips have turn out perfect even with little planning. I give myself an extra half day to either get out early or make up for time when I didn't hike as far as I thought. I haven't had any instances where I couldn't find a flat spot to set up in. On the flip side I have a few friends that are afraid of not finding trees the right distance apart. From this video you know my thoughts on those worries. Same applies to a tent. If you can't find a flat spot, I guarantee a mile or so down the trail you'll find something. Hope that helps!
@@FrozensAdventures how cold have u taken your sleeping pad down too. I am hooked on the tensor and just wanna know it'll be pk for most of the year if not 4 season. I sleep warm.
I just got the insulated version. I was using the non insulated up to this point and it gets pretty cold below 40f. I'd assume the insulated ones goes down to about 15 or 20F
Jason, I noticed that Gary was looking at his phone that had your route on it and my question is do you know what app Gary is using for your hike. Like all your videos and keep up the good work

100% agree that dogs should be kept on a leash. As a dog person myself, agree with everything you said.
Sure it is. Fires are hard to make with wet tinder, even when you have birch bark.
I can't tell what kind of material is is over video, but Texas instrument makes decomposable flagging tape. Also, my dog is only about 80% knee height and super friendly...but...if she's on trail, she's also 100%on a leash!

@@FrozensAdventures that's what I was assuming. Awesome thanks man.
Should have stopped at Highland Lake and had a burger. Very good food there.
Isn't that members only? Highland manor
@@FrozensAdventures you are correct but I am not a member and have been in there before to just eat. They typically let non members to do that.
Jason,
I noticed that Gary was looking at his phone that had your route on it and my question is do you know what app Gary is using for your hike. Like all your videos and keep up the good work
View ranger. Look in the video info. Lots of details there along with the gps file.
Cool, thank you.
Jason, where can I find the mesh bag that you have for your rain fly? Thanks in advance!
Hi Blake. It's a hammock gear mesh tarp sleeve and can be found here:

Enjoy!
@@FrozensAdventures just found and purchased! Thanks man!
Try bringing a Ziploc of dryer lint doesn't weight anything and is amazing firestarter...
Yup I cover it in Vaseline too. Only use it when I can't start it with what's in the woods though.
@@FrozensAdventures I use a twig stove so I start it with lint
Hey great video. Question, what balm do you use for your feet? Thanks!!
Rocket Pure
So you'd recommend this trail to anyone visiting PA.?
I would describe this trail as, green hell.
If you are conditioned enough for it, yes.
I so need that portable butt squirter. For now I bring paper towels while hiking and some water set aside for toileting and cleaning house.
I’m still trying to figure out which oatmeal packets allow you to pour hot water into them without melting.
All of them that I've used so far. Great value and Quaker Oats
