    Stomach it?? Mate, I used to mine before void opals. I mined for fun(!) Sub-surface mining came later, but I love it. Mining is so zen, it's my favourite thing to do in space

    Had no clue about subsurface, seen it all over the hotspots but never knew how to get at em.
    Thanks for the update.
    👍🥃

      no problem - we both did not know that then

    I know about this but I only learned it within the last three days. I have been watching videos on mining as I am new to ED and am saving for my main mining ship. Right now I am laser mining and doing transports. I also am doing some other work that is very, very frowned upon by security and law enforcement. The risk is very high but it pays well. Good stuff, Ricardo!

    Yeah, I knew that since forever. I mine tritium from subsurface deposits for my carrier.

    Yes, displacement mining is pretty lucrative for certain commodities. Tritium is the best with LTDs right next to them, but much harder to find. When you encounter an LTD overlap hotspot, the chances of the the sub-surface deposits increases, making that my preferred commodity.
    I will usually come across one or two LTD sub-surface deposit while loading up on tritium. I always collect those and cash in of course!

    Mining in VR is one of the coolest things you can possibly do and when I just want to take it easy I find a nice hot spot, yell Ed copilot to play radio sidewinder and enjoy the backdrop. It beats courier missions for sure lol

    I didn't know that either! I've done a lot of mining and really enjoy it, but it's okay if those aspects of the game that I completely forget about unless i have a CG or something specifically passing me toward it. I should fix that.
    I did once spend an afternoon mining in VR with an extra window added to the cockpit so i could watch movies. It was a huge hassle to set up, but made for a fantastic time.

    Subsurface is my go to for Tritium mining for my carrier out in the black. It's much quicker than laser.

    Hitting that single bar when sub-surface mining is tricky indeed.
    Also, I never saw the integrity percentage. I didn't know that!

      its also tricky too - 'rock a rhyme that's right on time'

    Never used the sub surface missiles as didn't know how they work. Have them on my Corvette ⛏️ ship so will give it a try.

    I want to try to do a bit more mining now and then, but I’m absolutely aimless. Even with the pulse wave scanner and the seismic change detonator, I don’t know if I’ll be wasting a prospector on a useless asteroid, or even what kind of materials I should actually try mining for.
    (that’s actually what made me decide to play Elite in the first place. Who wouldn’t enjoy the feel of actually blowing up an asteroid?)

      I am not a fan myself of Mining - it is a necessary evil in some cases - but that is the beauty of ELite - you can do it or not do it

    I used to do a lot of mining years ago when it paid good, so this is old news to me.

    I've only done laser mining. The subsurface mining seemed like more work than i wanted to do

    Been so long since I did subsurface mining... I usually do deep core or surface.

    I go cold 🥶 on the thought of mining. However I can see the appeal, and for Tritium on long exploration runs a boon. Just not my jag.

    Can you point out where the "integrity indicator" is. I actually DO displacement mine, and I have never seen it.

      At 2:00 look at 83% right from the mini-game. Where you would see a targets hull health.

    If you don't mine very often, I'm not sure this helped much. Which 'bar' are you referring to? The one with the blue stripes, or the upper one?

    Titan subsurface mining was a thing, wasn't it? I never could get it to work or I had the wrong equipment .

    i wonder how minding is funny, if its fun i guess it is. I does it for the $$$, however i like to play the game in a way that im always on to a new project when i feel justified with my total credits. Explore, kill , harvest
    , engineer all ships and watch the beauty in the game! Also community goals etc. for me mining is a thing that belong in ED. its just not fun fore me, the result may be very fun with credits and stuff. i think itsd a wonderfulo way to not be pledge in my time sone, i am allied and can go ecverywhere and do well. pledge i will later. as i did power play before 2.0. i think engineer and then pledge. money now is pretty fast anyway vs 2013 and horizon 2015 until now..

  • @DvdV1337
    @DvdV1337 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Its just not as fast as core or laser mining.
    Sometimes need to prospect 10+ asteroids to find only 1 single subsurface deposit.

      The good news is you don't have to specifically go out to subsurface mine. On my T8 I have a bunch of mining lasers and then one hard point for a subsurface missle. If I happen to come across a valuable deposit it hit it with the drill. Everything else in you laser mining build works to collect the subsurface material

    • @mattutes
      @mattutes 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Subsurface is quicker, you can get 10-15 resources from subsurface deposits. Laser mining only gives you fragments, so you need to refine multiple to get each tonne. Best method I find is to pulse, find orange rocks (even dim orange) and prospect them, they generally have subsurface deposits.

    Cringed every time I heard the American pronunciation of "missile". Other than that, this video got me back into mining.
