Definitely agree that passengers should put their seats up during meal service. I have been in the same situation, but I contacted the crew and asked them to get the people in front to raise their seats; this was on QATAR.

@@christopherhill2786 Yeah generally I make eye contact and point… just didn’t really seem to be a matter on this flight. Rather odd to be honest!

since i always fly with japan airline and ANA which the crews always ask seatback hold straightly. as i occasionally take other carrier i really felt frustrated with this situation

Hey Luke.I hope you are doing fine mate. That was an interesting flight today.Sometimes high expectacions are more than what we get in real life.Emirates is a top airline but there are ups and downs too.I have flown only once with them on an A380 business class from Dubai to Brisbane and I have to say mostly that nice things happened but the food wasn't that great I thought it was going to be.Anyway that vomit incident of yours was worse but these things happen.Nice to see you again.Best wishes from Athens.

@@flyingdentist Hey Yannis, hope you are doing well! Yeah… just one of those flights really. Glad to hear your experience in business was a good one. I am going to try them in first class on my next flight. They have a fifth freedom flight between Sydney and Christchurch (New Zealand) with very low points required to give it a try.. it may only be 3 or so hours but very keen to give that a go… also on a380! Thanks for the comment Yannis! Have a great week!

Great video, Luke! Sorry your experience wasn't as good as you hoped. Fellow passengers can definitely be a major source of frustration, especially on longer flights. I agree about putting seat backs up during meals. With how tight pitch is on some aircraft these days, it's almost hard to get the tray table down with the seat in front of you fully reclined. I did enjoy the beautiful views of Western Australia, Looking forward to your next set of videos!

Gosh, such memories. I used to be such a regular on EK404. Prior to COVID, it was a red eye to Melbourne, and that horrible return to Singapore at a God forbid 3am. Pity they're axing this flight.
Most ME airlines have an almost 100% expat employees because the locals are very wealthy and won't be seen dead in the service industry. Most of them don't even need to work.

@@ryansofly Aside from the crazy return departure time, hopefully they are good memories. Just had a look and they actually have EK405 at 3:25am early tomorrow! 😆 I wouldn’t know whether to sleep first or try muscle through the night. I’ll be flying EK again in 3 weeks, looking forward to experiencing the A380!

Great review Luke. Pity the flight is going soon certainly a fun one to do with Qantas Points as you did too! Absolutely amazing making landfall into Australia over the Pilbara region! Unfortunately it was rather overcast the day I did but they were still some great views as we progressed a little deeper into the interior of the continent and pretty cool flying over Adelaide just before the descent into Melbourne. Sounds like some pretty inconsiderate passengers indeed though. Yes i agree i am not saying people shouldn’t recline as it’s a feature of the seat they pay for after all but common courtesy dictates when it should and shouldn’t be ok and proper etiquette when using it - meal time certainly isn’t one of them! As for the seat selection happening booked with Qantas i was re directed to Emirates website to make seperate payment for selection of a seat - couldn’t do it with Qantas itself. Interesting about the wifi i could barely seem to get it to work on my flight wasn;t interested in purchasing it but was keen to see what the ‘free content’ was like nonetheless but didn’t have much luck.
Look forward to the next review!

@@AussieJetSetter Hey mate, glad to hear your thoughts and thanks for watching! Yeah I was directing to the emirates site but it said I could only select the seat once I have checked in, hence calling them to secure a window just in case. My very first flight was on Emirates EK409 perhaps 10 - 12 years ago at the time as a fifth freedom flight from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur and I flown this route many times. That route flown by Emirates holds a lot of memories. Unfortunately, they ditched this route in 2016 after a partnership with Malaysia airlines and then the flight number flew from Melbourne to Dubai nonstop. Therefore, I would then fly on Emirates EK405 to Singapore and then connect onwards using Malaysia Airlines to Kuala Lumpur. EK405’s departure at 3am was roughly the same time EK409 departed to Kuala Lumpur back then and yes for most people it was a bloody and rough departure time but it holds a lot of memories of how I became an avgeek on EK409. Now, EK405 is ditched which is extremely frustrating but there has to be a reason why Emirates has done it and I really wish the airline the best on moving on after ditching this route.

    Great trip report. Enjoyed it.
Cabin crew should have told the passengers who reclined their seat to bring their seat into an upright position.
Singapore Airlines seems to be way more consistent in that an other regards.
